The lead single to the best album of any genre from any culture of any time. A "requiem" is a song of death, a funeral song. Jaz Coleman is also a celebrated classical music composer and conductor.
The musicians/members in this greatest of bands is second to none. Big Paul is one of the greatest drummers of all time. Just imagine playing a KJ gig from start to finish. Youth or Raven on bass to complete the rhythm section. Second to none. Driving primal rhythms. Geordie is unique and amazing on guitar. Jazz. Say no more. Still gathering. Thank God.
I messaged Youth the original bassist of Killing Joke in 2020 and he replied! he told me he had worked with Paul McCartney on the album The Fireman and was very easy to chat with. I eventually got the debut album by Killing Joke signed by Youth! was hard work though! patience and good manners pays off in the end! Requiem is a classic choice. C_r¡5 2022
I've been a big fan of this band since the early 80s. If you want to react to another song by them, I'd recommend "Follow the leader" or "Turn to red".
Back on track with some more Killing Joke, 30 years on from their debut album and still intense listen to 'The Great Cull' it's like a battle cry. Can you listen to 'The Fall-Container drivers' it's been awhile since you last listened to them and you did get alot of views last time.
No one can claim after hearing this that KJ are predictable or formulaic… When you hear a song from a lot of A list bands for the first time you’ve already got a handle on what you can expect, NOT from these guys and that’s why to this day they are held in such high regard for pure musicianship and craft . 👍🏴
Hi dude, I recently chatted to a bloke last week who actually knows Jaz Coleman! this blew me away, so I enquired further.. he grew up with him! Jaz was born in Cheltenham. I always thought he was born in London myself! I started chatting with him about Jaz and Killing Joke, I then said I was after Jaz's autograph, he said if you come to me on the weekend (Sunday) I will introduce you to him!! I was MINDBLOWN as you can imagine! sadly it wasn't to be though, as it is too far to get there, was at least 50 miles away! but there you go. K.J. forever R.I.P. They had a couple singles, Nervous System, Turn to Red I think but I believe this was the first single ahead of their first album. I picked up the single of all places at Ace's Records in Flint, MI. I was in high school. I think it was 79? The single had no label just black vinyl. I think the backside was War Dance? People correct me if I'm wrong. This band changed my life. Check the documentary on Prime "The Death and Resurrection Show." It's over three hours long and it may take a few sessions but damn. This is not your ordinary band or singer!
The Killing Joke was a photo of Pope Pious xii giving a nazi salute to a Nazi soldiers. He remains a controvertial figure with dubious connections and that was the joke that killed. This is probably the best album they made, Psyche is a brilliant track, as is Turn to Red, Follow The Leader and What's This For.
Hi - stumbled across your review of Song to the Siren and checked out some of your other reviews. In listening to killing Joke, I think you’d really enjoy The Associates - “Party Fears Two”. And since you like Britpop, you should really check out a group known as Suede in the UK or London Suede in the US ( as there was already another band called Suede in the States). I love their songs “Trash”, “Film Star”, “Animal Nitrate”, “Beautiful Ones” and “She’s In Fashion”. They had a tonne more hits and in 1992, Suede were dubbed "The Best New Band in Britain” by Melody Maker. Up there with Blur, Oasis and Pulp.
I seem to be going backwards through Nick’s reactions and was a little disappointed that he listened to Love Like Blood first but great to see him going back to the first album. No idea what he should listen to next…. How about Psyche off the live Ha album (I was at that concert in Toronto) or maybe Exit off What’s This For?
This is from the Killing joke album 'Pandemonium' which was a bit of a departure... this is Millennium from it. th-cam.com/video/Tpiqap0JRIA/w-d-xo.html
With the soccer World Cup (as well as Canada's participation) just a few weeks away, what about some reactions to World Cup songs? There have certainly been some interesting anthems over the years!
Awesome song. I'm guessing this is a later remix as mine is different. That guitar riff comes in before the vocals and the whole song is much heavier on the earlier version. I need to remind you again, Wet Leg - Chaise Lounge. You'll love it. 😊

This album is the soundtrack to my youth. It holds a special place in my soul.

Give us MORE Killing Joke 🙌
The wait is a brilliant song on that L.P. I actually still have it on vinyl 👍
Instantly upon hearing this LP back in the day it became one of my all time favorite records. I still listen all the time.
Great taste in music, dude! Thanks, I love KJ
Killing Joke - holding up a mirror so we can all have a good look at the darkness within. Chilling.
This is the first KJ song I heard in my life ... live in Oakville Ontario Canada on August 9th, 1981 .... life changed forever ...

War Dance is KJ at their most intense, this was music for post apocalypse. Songs for when nucs are fired.

Follow the Leaders is quality!! Wardance and Pssyche would be good choices too.
Great track. They used to play that at the Camden Palace as a dance track back in the day.
They are one best sounding group they play like they sound great live living in the 1980 great music saw. Them live great music

Ironic that he cleared his throat as the song ended and the next cut Wardance starts with a 'clearing throat'.
A different mix than the original. But still good. They have have tons of good tunes.
