Grandma and I did not follow the recipe in the video exactly the way it is. I have tried different recipes myself (yes, I am a guac enthusiast lol) and I have my own recipe. So, I used some garlic and jalapeno, which was not included in the recipe video we watched. Sorry for the confusion😅

I'm korean myself and I also have a grandma, but I haven't seen her in years and I don't really have a relationship with her like other people do with their grandma's cause I don't see her often. So seeing grandma OK makes me happy🥺❤

My Korean grandmother died when I was very young and I never got to meet her. I like to think that if I had met her, and my grandmother lived, that we would have a fun relationship like Zoey and Grandma OK.

You cook to your own likes and dislikes. They probably don't like spicy food so didn't add the chile. I love spicy food so I do add the jalapeño and garlic. They are showing you the basics and from there you cater to your own taste.

The way Grandma hated on the dullness of that knife and the way she held it while chopping, leads me to believe that she has worked in or owned a restaurant at some point. She uses it like a legit pro. I love her sooooo much..💜💜💜

The first mistake everyone uses when cutting an avacado is using a dull knife. The duller the knife, the HARDER you have to stab it to get the pit out. The sharper the knife, the easier it is. I always sharpen the knives until they can split an atom. Then I just tap the pit, and it goes right on in. Twist, and out out comes. No slapping, stabbing, or forcing. A slight tap of the sharp edge.
Sharp knives are important.
this is why i use a spoon to get the pit out 😓🤚🏼

I sometimes just squeeze avocado a bit and it comes out easily, or then I just dig it out.

Zoey, I love that you're so sweet and kind to your granny, and are doing this project together. I miss my granny so much - the stress of September 11, 2001 gave her a couple heart attacks and she didn't survive the second one. Watching the two of you makes me remember happy memories with my own granny.

Grandma Ok: Does it look good kids?
Me: YES
Oooo I got a dish you might love it’s a Minnesotan classic here in Minnesota it’s called Tator Tot Hotdish. So you need hamburger (meat), Cream of Mushroom soup (roughly 2 cans), corn, shredded cheese, and tator tots. You Cook your hamburger, cook enough to feed however many people, you then pour in the cream of mushroom soup and mix it in with the hamburger in a pot (or bowl) with the burners off, you then pour it into a casserole dish and add the corn, you spread it on top so it’s covering the meat, then you add the shredded cheese the same way, lastly you add the tator tots in an even row from end to end with no gaps (you can google pictures or a recipe if you want), you cook it in the oven for an hour or longer. Once it’s done, eat it! (Personally I really really like this a lot, maybe it’s just the Minnesotan in me)

When you do the knife on the pit thing, trust me and place the avocado down. You will eventually miss the pit and slice through the avocado and into your skin. Trust me on this one.
