Awesome video! Just subscribed. Could you do a short vid on how you assembled that amazind bridge with the dual star cases and giant crew space underneath? Thanks
Dude. Why is it 1234. And not planet names. I changed video to find someone that will actually let me know without watching a 15 minute video. I'm on new Atlantis and was looking for that specific ship part dealer. 1234 does not tell me where
I wish you could test drive your ship before you buy. Go into a simulation thing with a stationary target. Fly around to see if you like the feel of it, can attack the target dummy to see damage, and walk around your ship to see the inside.
Especially since it's only a matter of confirming the build to immediately have the ship behind you ready to use. Doubt it'd be too difficult to implement.
Plus the ability to see the interior of the ship. I’ve spent way too much time building the ship, having to confirm then run over to the ship to inspect the interior, and repeat until I found the final product that I’m happy with.
@@thysquid2157 this is what I've started doing but man is it tedious compared to how they can make. Really hoping they make the process more seamless because ship building is incredibly fun.
I'd like a way to see the interior layout before buying. My ship is perfect on the outside, but turned into a friggin maze on the inside. I have a mudule with all the crafting stations, but I can't even find it once I'm inside lol
check your activities when it says " speak to walter " you get a free ship from doing this activity called the kelper but you get an option to build one of the R&D teams ideas
Tip about capturing ships on the ground. They always have a few guards patrolling around the ship when they land. Ignore the guards. If you engage the ship may take off before you can get on board. Instead ignore the guards completely and get in the ship. Your task is to kill everyone in the ship. And once you have captured it, you can then go outside and finish off the guards if you chose. But I'll be honest, ship capturing can be a bit fun but it really isn't profitable. You might get around 2500 credits from the sale and there may be some contraband on the ship that might net your another 2500. Class A ships have such small cargo holds that they really aren't worth taking. I haven't seen any Class B or C ships land on planets and be available for capture yet.
it's also important to note that some parts are locked behind you having the starship designer perk/trait and the various levels of it, additionally some parts are locked by faction specific membership (for example on new atlantis once your a member of their vanguard you find their parts) I found the vanguard had a 1450 level shield which has been the strongest shield i've found so far.
Point well made. And yes, you do need to watch whether the parts are for Class A, B, or C. One thing I have begun to believe to be true is that one of the things people suggest is that you take an old ship delete (sell) all the parts and then build from scratch. I suspect this may cause a problem though. Especially if the ship is a Class A. All three ships classes do have a size restriction and even if you can build a Class C ship, I suspect that the game assumes the classification from the original ship sets the tone. So if you strip down a Class A, you basically limited to a large fighter no matter what you build or what parts you put on it. But yes, there are skill trees you need to have developed in order to make full use of all the parts. Further, a suggestion when building ships. If you have multiple floors, the placement of ladders can get a little wonky. My suggestion is to put in companionways. Although not stated, it does seem like the game tries to put ladder wells in companionways when available or practical.
The question people should be asking is, are there unique parts for some in game ship designs. I haven't been in the game long enough to confirm this, but I'm starting to lean in that direction. The ship you get from the Mantis mission has a high level engine I haven't seen at a vendor yet but to be fair it may be skill locked and I haven't unlocked it yet. The main compartment of the frontier I have heard people on TH-cam say is unique to that class. And the Ranger ship ... it has things on it I haven't seen on vendors yet. As for ships I have captured, they have all be basically lego sets. Nothing on a single one has been worthy of keeping.
I’ve switched things out on the Mantis ship and built another one and honestly, the interior of the frontier is still my favorite. It’s much more “lived in” and it makes sense. Big open spaces on a spaceship make zero sense to me.
@GangstarComputerGod I like the Star Eagle for that lived in factor, but it's a pain to get around. I know I can just fast travel from the pause menu, but I like to use the Nav Station, and for whatever reason it's tucked away on the top floor. Would make more sense if it was in or close to the cockpit. Gonna have to make my own ship I guess
I have noticed that certain setups are seemingly impossible to reproduce. I stole a Va'ruun Hymn (basically a pimped up Galileo) and the way the cockpit is placed above the braking engine is not possible, since the attach doesn't match. I wanted to upgrade the cockpit, but as soon as you move it, you can't put it back on, and have to move a few thing over for it to work properly.
Do i have to go to these vendors to use their parts every time or is there a way i can access all parts from anywhere after just the first time meeting them
Once you have found them use the landing pad, you have access to 99% of the stuff you have discovered. Just not the big cockpits and a few other stuff I can't remember. I think maybe one of the big wepens and maybe one of the reactors don't show up on mine. But that's not too big a deal to have to go buy. And I think they are all c class but like I said I can't remember for sure.
The Crimson Fleet also sells Shielded Cargo and Scan Jammers as well. And as long as you progress their questline, some exclusive equipment for your ship (that's free) that provides buffs. They also sell a little bit of everything from all the ship companies, very fitting for pirates.
I'm up around lvl 50. The old guy, straud (?) at the lodge has a nice quest. You have to go to his company and make these npc's work together to build a new ship to market. Awards, you get thus hulking beast of a ship, if you choose the kitchen sink option. I plan on upgrading it but is awesome as is
Really useful video, many thanks. I’m a big fan of the Samurai/Daimyo cockpit - it has the best animation (and sound) when you get in/out of the pilots seat 😊
You can also get Shielded Cargo from the Crimson Pirates' base, "The Key" ... once you can infiltrate them, and provided you don't destroy them as a faction. :) Also, they have better / bigger shielded cargo modules, AND, a better scan-jammer as well.
I used Hopetech parts to build a massive freighter. The frontal docking port help a lot to build ship so high as you want without issues, and the Overlord cockpit gives the perfect "space truck" look that i wanted.
Nice. That big Cabot cockpit is my favorite cockpit. It looks nice plus you have 6 connections to add 2 stories of various habs if desired, which allows a large ship to be more compact and wide, instead of long. 2nd favorite cockpit is the Stroud-ecklund viking cockpit since it has 4 crew stations and looks nice. Building your ship out of your own landing pad is a great option-Plus that makes at least 2 shielded cargo modules available (not sure what level is required).
Deimos is the biggest cockpit lol but that view of yours is better haha, great coverage! You should do a video on each of the manufacturers inside look of there style of habs!

The only thing about ship building is the maximum length and height! I get it obviously if it’s too big it’s not going to fit on landing pads but they could scrap the limit so you could build a giant battle ship that could hold like a smaller shuttle ship that has a maximum length so it fits on landing pads that you use to land on planets it would mean you could literally build anything

Most of the parts, aside from the exclusive parts, (like the big cockpits, 2x* and 3x* habitat rooms) are available at an outpost using the Landing Pad with Ship Builder. Even shielded cargo holds can be built at an outpost. Some parts in the game are seemingly level restricted too though, they won't show up for sale until your level is high enough. pretty sure none of the cowling is exclusive to a specific vendor. I think UC space has half of it, Freestar space has the other half. Your own platforms having all cowling (and illegal stuff like shielded cargo, jammers, ect)
To be honest, I haven't even gotten into the base building in this game. I've probably got more hours in this game since early release than I do at work. And the bulk of it has been playing around with R&D and ship building. I think I can honestly say that half my game play has been tweeking ship designs. That and running back and fourth between vendors because nobody has enough credits to pay me for all the weapons, armor, and aid items I'll pick up on a single mission in this game. When the average vendor at New Atlantis has only 5k on them, it takes multiple trips just to sale it all off.
Do you get unique parts there too? Didn't even know different vendors have different parts, I've been modding it in new atlantis the whole time even though I have a pad on my outpost lol
probably deimos, ngl the ship I made has now become a heavy assault fighter that rips enemies and has automated guns to shoot the shit out of anything around it
I don't get this game. Piloting is rank b. Star ship design is is rank 2. And I couldn't see no storage at red to buy. Is it down to stats or something I'm doing wrong? When u open up ship builder. Mine doesn't show like that

i have question. can you buy all parts, so you have it and then just put your ship together at any place?
Nope, but mods can allow this.
hold on isn't the 200cm ballast shielded cargo better it holds 190 compared to 170
How do u get that menu when entering vendors? I never get those options.😢
pretty sure none of the cowling is exclusive to a specific vendor. I think UC space has half of it, Freestar space has the other half. Your own platforms having all cowling (and illegal stuff like shielded cargo, jammers, ect)
Commenting to say thank you for pronouncing Deimos properly. So many American TH-camrs saying "day-mos" hurts my soul
The crimson fleet has a pretty decent one with most of these
What's the name of ur cockpit bc I can't find it or I did but s different version of it
You missed the unique landing gear on titan with a thrust of 4 that csn be placed UNDER your ships like a classic nose gear for a jet.
I'm kind of surprised you didn't mention the Vanguard ship Shields and guns
The Vanguard items do seem to be at multiple vendors. It is just a matter of unlocking them with the quest.
Is it cheaper to build your own ship than buying one?
I'm missing one other cockpit type, the wide tractor style from straud eklund!
How much does it cost to build your own ship building base?
We’re can I get the Nova Cowling 2L-BA i neeeeeed it pls ?
Really wish you could buy contracts from the manufacturers to unlock the parts for your own base.
Can you not access all parts from the outpost ship builder?
You can't access any of the big or unique pieces from an outpost
Not sure why but it seems on Xbox outpost shipbuilder dont work or maybe iam having glicht with it
I’ve watched so many videos like this and no one else has mentioned using your own shipyard, which I’ve been using for a while.
I watched a “best build” video an hour ago, and he was using better components I do not have available on my outpost builder pad.
Do you get unique parts there too? Didn't even know different vendors have different parts, I've been modding it in new atlantis the whole time even though I have a pad on my outpost lol
hi if you sleep or sit down on a bench for 24 hours (in game 1 minutes) the vender resets. theres usaly a bench next to them.@@superdave8248
probably deimos, ngl the ship I made has now become a heavy assault fighter that rips enemies and has automated guns to shoot the shit out of anything around it
Buy Shielded Cargo Hold < Jump to Wolf System
I know this has nothing to do with ship building but can anyone tell me why the value of loot shows way higher than when you go to sale it?
You got the commerce skill upgraded?
Because the vendor has to make a profit buying low and selling high
I don't get this game. Piloting is rank b. Star ship design is is rank 2. And I couldn't see no storage at red to buy. Is it down to stats or something I'm doing wrong? When u open up ship builder. Mine doesn't show like that
You forgot the nova galactic exclusive landing gear in New Homestead too
Still looking for an actual list of best in class parts & location, search goes on!
Is a part specificly labeled as "unique"?
Is there a mod that allows any vender to sell anything
What am I doing wrong? I did not see any of these options when I went to Red Mile
Who had the double decker?
I'm sorry did u say something about th nasal parts from hope whatever? I couldn't hear u over all th Jet engines XP
