Lovely to hear your thoughts on Void Stranger again. This ending is very special to me... So special that it's made its own space in my head for the last two years. This game is very good at telling you how it should be played, and then rewarding you for trusting its unconventional design choices. This "bad ending" being so beautiful is a perfect example of that. Cheers!

Unfortunately, the gameplay looks like it would make my smash my head through a wall, but the sequence itself and the story behind it I fuck with HARD. Your video did a great job of conveying how heavy it is. Always love your vids Yacc.
I played void stranger because of your indie games video and I'm so happy I did, such a beautiful and unique experience! The dev message at the end genuinely made me cry and has inspired me in my creative endeavors ever since.

NO VOID STRANGER, EVERYONE ALWAYS PULL ME BACK IN
You know. I ended up bouncing off of Void Stranger back in the initial outpouring of love for it, not for any true fault of the game itself (at least, nothing intentional), but because I’d been, quite ironically, poisoned by knowing the orange leads to the “bad ending”. I went farther than I should have, drank deep of the spoilers, and after successfully beating the game without getting voided and then burning myself out trying to reach everything, the fire inside me to keep going died out, then the embers, and then the faintly glowing coals. The blackened remains of Void Stranger sat there, dormant in the Steam Library, until my laptop breathed its last.
It’s a new day, a new rig, and a greater love of life. Thank you for lighting the coals. Onward and downward, to actually rediscovering everything I looked up before.

Watched your indie game recommendations and had this on my wishlist for quite a while before taking the plunge a few weeks ago. I went in blind and while not being a game I'd typically play, it has consumed my brain. I have a notepad dedicated to the game, I'm taking screenshots, and I picked up Zeroranger because I want more from this developer. Insane experience, thanks for putting it on my radar!

I initially refunded Void Stranger due to my frustrations with sokoban (?) puzzles as this was my first experience with them, but having learned of the rabbit hole that is this game…I think I’m gonna dive back in

I intentionally avoided eating the fruit for so long because I knew it was a trap, and because I thought that I would be able to put in the very same brand that you see in the video at the start of the game because you see it on an early floor. If you put it in early though, it just doesn't allow you too.

Damn I finished the game and never knew about this. I got the wings and on B235 went down and got sent back to the beginning. Wish I saw this in game.

You showed Baba at the beginning of the video as a comparison for the redo. Is this game as hard as Baba? Because that game broke my brain and I did not have the patience to continue 10 hours into it. Are those games comparable enough or do I just need to try Void Strangers
Void Stranger is definitely tough on the first playthrough, but the VOID state means you can technically make infinite mistakes, and then the game gets both easier and harder as you move forward. It requires some out of the box thinking at certain points and I got stumped for hours / days at a time but it was very satisfying beating it over the course of a month or so (did a lot of theorizing with friends who were also playing it). If we're purely talking about the sokoban puzzles, though, I think Baba is You is a lot harder.

Does anyone have a good explanation video because this game is SO interesting to me but i can't play it myself and the streamer i watched was just in it for the puzzles so story was an after afterthought

Disgaea 2 has the best bad ending ever. Fe Engage has a really good one too, the type that gives you goosebumps.
how am i this early
I know I'm not to much of a 'puzzle' guy in my games, so actively playing this game is something that had zero interest to me. But even saying that, I can't say anything other than how much of a masterpiece it is. It's kinda incredible how much depth this game has, all the different cool things you can do, and how all the story beats spiral and spiral and spiral together.
For anyone like me who wants to at least get 'a pretty good taste' of this game but knows they would NOT have the patience for it, I suggest a video by CDawgVA (ConnerDawg). It is quite literally hours long, detailing his 'decent' into this game rather masterfully (along with the challenges that went into creating such a video for such an insane game), and even with that I'm not sure if it touches on EVERYThing you can possibly do within it.

Though that being said, if you do think you'd even have a little bit of stamina for this game, from all I can see buy it/give it a shot. If the gameplay itself doesn't turn you away from it, you WILL get into the game, and lose grand swaths of your life to it's secrets. I can very much tell that much, if this fantastic video (the one above not the one linked, though that one too XD) isn't enough of an indication of that already.
