Also very interested in your review of controllers, the one you showed looked real interesting and I'd like to see Dr. Zzz's controllers in the review as well. Between you and Dr. Zzz's, I've become obsessed with LED lighting. Drives my wife nuts until she sees the results, LOL.

That perforated matrix is exactly what I’m looking for to do timers and whatnot, instead of trying to glue a normal matrix to something flat.

Hey Aaron - thanks for another great (inspiring) video! I’ve been re-printing my matrix enclosures after upgrading my Ender 3 to an X1C - and rebuilding the 2x2 “big a** matrix” had me thinking… “How can I get MOAR LEDs?!?” 4x4 of the 16x16 panels? You mentioned building a 2x5 array of these panels: I wanna see that build! Plus any enclosures / diffusers for the higher resolution / smaller pitch matrices (22x22 or 64x64). Keep the inspiration coming!

On the triangle matrices, you can do what I did with my DIY hexes. Each set becomes a segment and then you assign effects to each segment.
That's a good idea. Sometimes I forget about segments, but they are super useful in WLED. I'll have to share on discord if I do some more playing

I would love to use the hex LEDs with WLED running on an ESP8266. Are the WLED settings for your trusty controller going to be the same for an ESP8266? And what type of LEDs are the hex lights (ie WS281x, etc.)? Thanks for the great video.
Love that small 12 volt power supply. Looks like it would fit easily into an ammo can. I use those as control boxes in my Christmas light display. I have a mix of 5 and 12 volt WS2811, total of about 1400 this year, along with 3,000 old school lights. Hoping to push to about 2500 pixels this year and retire a few more of the old lights.

Another super useful video thanks! The 10 channel controller looked neat, ooh din rail for example. Then I saw the price and at a smidgen under £1k it's a big nooope. 🤣 I'll stick to a QuinLED Dig 8 for rather less money if needing that many ports.
Price was $175 a day or two ago. I think the price is wrong on Ali. Sent a message to the seller. I'm gonna test that

Yeah, I’ve been trying to adapt WLED to Govee hex panels. Despite being able to address each side of a hex, it’s really lacking in the ability to remap LEDs, especially if you want to have effects travel horizontally across the array.

Do you know if Nanoleaf hexs can be connected to a WLED controller just like the hexs you are showing on this video? Have you tried it?
I have some but the controlling unit is faulty, Nanoleaf support has sent me a replacement twice already, I was thinking maybe I can just connect them to an ESP32 for example.

So I have a few WLED projects in my house I’ve built but I keep running into an issue where every once in awhile the esp32 is shown as “(offline)” and I cannot get it to connect to my phone. I know there’s someway to set it with a specific IP address in your router but TBH I have yet to learn how to do it myself. Would be a good video tutorial maybe?
Yeah, I would be good, but unfortunately routers are all very different so you really have to find out how to do it on your own router. I have a Google Nest WiFi and it's totally different from my old TP-Link.
It fairly easy I think, first look up your device's IP, then just look for DHCP IP Reservation as an option on your router, and reserve that IP for that device.
Yes, please the large Led Matrix. Also those 16x32 Perforated LED Matrix panels are pricy! Do you think cost will come down as they become more popular?

Are you thinking PIR sensors hooked to the WLED controller or connect to HA?
@3:27 If you have only ONE power injection point (other than the start of the string), Do Not use it in the middle of the string. Put it at the other end.
For the triangle panels and matrix effects:
Afaik it is possible to provide a map of led locations to wledthen wled should compensate for the missing ones

@@makeitworktech the search term is "mapping" which allows to reorder the led order in your strip, combined with "virtual" LEDs* you should be able to make something work.
*Virtual LEDs: LEDs that are configured in WLED and are also computed but are not physically attached to the controller. For your usecase you can create a rectangle matrix where all LEDs of your triangle align with the LEDs of the rectangle, now you replace all pixels in the rectangular matrix that are not present in the triangle with virtual LEDs.

I'm getting a not available in your location error. Which is annoying as they're the most exciting one to me. I can see them being using within acoustic treatment panels for expansion displays in home cinemas driven by HyperHDR or Madrix/LED Strip Studio software.
