The Sabres can NOT go 0-4 to start this year, not even 1-3. The next 2 games need to be treated as some of the most important games in franchise history. If they drop both, they will lose a lot of fans, possibly for good
Dude wtf are you talking about? As soon as this franchise makes the playoffs, whether that is this year, or 5 years from now, everyone comes back. Don't be so dramatic. It's not manly.
@@JBT42884 nah, a lot of people are not going to come back. Unlike football theres no culture around being a Sabres fan. Hockey is just entertainment, its easily replaceable. The cost is already alienating fans.
The Sabres have had a top 10 draft pick in 10 of the last 12 drafts. One would think we wouldn’t have to settle for Greenway on the top line and Jokiharju on the top d-pair. 🤦♂️ What a mess.
@@drivingrc720Great? No. He had the best season of his career but he is what he is. He’s a 5 or 6 d-man on a good team.
One positive (and hope) after game one, was that as soon as Ruff went back to the locker room area was that he went right to Kevin Adams and told him that Levi wasn’t going anywhere! Which is why Reimer was placed on waivers the second they got home.
When do we start getting concerned that the young core is not as good as we initially thought?
Yeah halfway through last year. Guys got a paycheck and went on autopilot
Looking at an 0-5 start
I think Sabres fans are the only ones who think that Dillon hit should be a suspension but I won't pile on. On the Lindy point, the Devils were so bad for so long and finally went into last season having expectations. Yes goaltending was bad and injuries happened, but this is a man who buried Timo Meier next to Chris Tierney and random AHL call-up of the week. Then Timo broke out as soon as Lindy was fired. For a team that was within striking distance of the playoffs throughout the whole season, that kind of coaching decision is infuriating. There were so many poor coaching decisions and watching the first 2 games, I just can't help but notice how much this season's Sabres look like last season's Devils.
Sabres simply lack top end talent, Adams did not come through with the big trade, of course maybe that was impossible, then you check your nads and do an offer sheet.
The “Minor” penalty call and no suspension on the Peterka hit is garbage! Especially when it was less than a year ago when Conner Clifton was suspended to games for a nearly identical hit on (I believe Nico Hichier)!
People want to say that the league and the refs aren’t against the Sabres and we’re all just looking for excuses, when there are prime examples like this!
I would not be surprised to find out that all of this is because of how Bettmen want the Sabres to move out of Buffalo to move the Sabres to a larger market!
Def not identical hits. Clifton's hit clipped hischier and got pretty much all head. The dillon hit was straight on, if the puck was still there it's not even a 2 min penalty. Closest comparison is troubas hit on meier in 2022-2023 playoffs and that was no call, which was the correct call even the the head was primary contact point.
@@michaelmignone5869 so a 2 hits that were BOTH with the Head being the primary point of contact by the Shoulder isn’t the same thing because of the pucks location?! You may wanna watch that hit again! I already have.
If you look at it, Clifton already had that hit locked in as Hischer made contact with the puck and it was less than a second after the puck left his stick that the hit was made. And even the commentary of the his stated that had Hischer not rotated his body, it would have been Shoulder on Shoulder.
So yeah, maybe you are right. They were different. While BOTH players had recently made contact with the puck in accordance with NHL rules, Peterka never changed his body position, showing that Dillon was in fact targeting his head, and that Clifton was about to go Shoulder to Shoulder with Hischer, when Hischer changed his body position that made HIMSELF vulnerable.
Thank you very much for helping me prove my point. Much appreciated!
dillion is taller than Peterka. theres not "avoiding head contact" unless he goes against literally everything you're told to do when you hit someone in hockey. If Peterka was Tage Thompson or even Tuch we wouldn't be having this discussion rn. If he is standing up and does lift his shoulder up then it shouldn't be a call or else you're just telling tall players "you cant hit anyone shorter than you."
@@KOB2576 considering the fact that it was a hit that never should have happened, which is why he got called for an Interference making it an “Illegal” hit, then yes, following through and hitting the “shorter” players head was wrong and should have been a “hit to the head” penalty as well and been addressed by the league.
Since Dillon wasn’t legally in a situation to hit Peterka in the first place, JJ’s size is irrelevant.
@@KetoFitChef That’s not how that works. Nor is that what illegal hit to the head is constituted as under the NHL rules. Because if hes taller and his shoulder hit his chest it’s interference and if he had the puck it’s a clean hit. Go look up the rules.
Samuelsson is brutal. He doesn’t have the puck skills to play in this league.
Rule 48: illegal hit to the head.
- A hit resulting in contact with an
opponent’s head where the head was the main point of contact and
such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted.
(What constitutes unavoidable)
-Whether the player attempted to hit squarely through the
opponent’s body and the head was not "picked" as a result of poor
timing, poor angle of approach, or unnecessary extension of the
body upward or outward.
He didn't have bad timing, angle of approach was damn near 0, and there was no unnecessary extension. If Tuch put this hit on Marchand you'd be saying it shouldn't have been a suspension.
Appreciate the fairness👍 i like the sabres and i like lindy. Gl for the remaining season
Here we go again
same with the Bills
I'm detached emotionally at this point
THANK YOU! MAY I HAVE ANOTHER... WE! WANT! 14! :(
Don't like the hit on pterka? Better get an enforcer. Sabres are just as soft as last year. Another year of watching Dahlin getting abused, as well as anyone else the other team wants to abuse.
I've been saying that for 3 seasons. The players would feel 5 inches taller if they had a tough SOB watching their backs. Maybe Lindy now agrees with us.
To be fair, the Sabres have had the hardest strength of schedule in the league so far...
Yes, over a decade of very high draft picks and all those that leave the team end up winning a cup. That says it all. Coaching is everything. They need a seasoned cup winning coach. Now they will have to fire Ruff twice. Unbelievable!!!
I'd love to get some sort of emotion or comment by our no-show of an owner outside of his annual firing/hirings. You don't hear a whimper from him anytime outside of that. And at the pace he's been hemorrhaging money year after year, you'd think he'd have some balls to say something and get angry. Absolute joke of an owner.
I stopped watching last year just prior to Christmas, I decided to give them a chance but after the two games in Prague, I’m likely out again. Why bother wasting my time watching an organization that does not make progress.
Huge Sabres fan here, big Peterka fan, but Dillons hit was clean and textbook.
RE stats on chances in front of UPL / levi I am sure a bit part about that stat is scouting, other teams probably throw more pucks at the net for levi because hes a smaller more aggresive goalie who tends to get out of position a bit more. upl, is more stay at home style, makes sense theres a bit less chances in front of him. probably calms the game down a bit more
Look no further than Drury and LaFontaine how concussions can escalate...and cut a HOF career short
I hate the Devils
Get Trump to buy the team
I’m so not panicked about this team
I love Devon Levi very much besides that one really terrible goal where he had no reason to be doing what he was doing on the outside the net. He did great however, you cannot compare UPL to him when all three goals that went in on him were pretty much un savable it Was ridiculous. One was a screenshot that he couldn’t see the other one was top shelf right in the slot and forget what the last one was but he had no chance on that either
Looked at the Captains this coach picked, that will tell you everything about this core:
Samuelson: can't stay healthy, will be out for 4 months in a few games
Cozens: still counting his cash. Only good hockey he plays is when he is wearing a Canada sweater
Tuch: talks a big game, but was the ringleader of the F the fans movement last year when his feeling got hurt.
This is who you picked to lead this team. Nice work Lindy.
I havent heard anyone but sabres fans complain about that hit and your the only ones calling it a dirty hit and a major. Its pretty obvious it was only a hit to the head because he had his head down, he didnt target the head
According to reddit, you are not allowed to ensue that devils are a much better team. The Sabres have to beat everyone /s
Its ok... pretty sure the sabres will remember this... and especially Ruff...
Hang in there folks, they will be good... (ps. I love my team no matter what, see you all when the weather is fair)
The definition of fair weather fan is to suggest this team has been good at some point which is completely false. You love the team when they’re good but stop caring when they’re bad, problem is they’re always bad.
And did the devils have some sour grapes? .... and yes the Sabres are an easy mark...
"I dont get why Devils fans hate Lindy so much"
You will soon bud
We know what Ruff can do pal. I've been watching him since 1980. He's not the 5th winningest coach in NHL history because he wears nice shoes.
Welcome to the cut, yourrrr HOUSTONNNN SABRESSSS
At least we weren't shut out.....???
I wouldnt be suprised if the devils trolling the Sabres brings some bad karma their way.
Their team name is the Devils and they’ve won multiple Cups….dont think karma is affecting them.
cant judge devils fans for hating lindy after the decisions he made last season but you will learn that the hard way. also lindy had nothing to do with their success that one year it was all andrew brunette
You know theres nothing good to talk about when you spend that much time talking about beating the 'goals expected' ffs
Anyone feel for a young team starting the season 4000 miles away from home in a foreign speaking country???
You really need to work on pronunciation of player names (Noesen last time, Nemec now)

? Should I cancel msg after 20+years?
Don't pay a single dime until they earn your money back. They're just robbing you at the moment. And they've done nothing to gain your hard-earned money.
I hope they relocate soon it’s getting too old and a waste of time idk of any other team in history that’s signed their soft ass core to long term contracts yet havnt even made the playoffs
They can relocate, but you'll be watching AHL or ECHL hockey forevermore (or become a Leafs fan ;))
I don't hate Lindy but he did suck. Lindy was not the reason for their success in 22-23. There's a reason the literal only year the Devils had success under Lindy was also the year Brunette was behind the bench with him. Then Brunette leaves and Lindy guides them to a fucking mess of a season with a talented roster while Brunette goes and takes a mediocre Preds team and had them looking really good. The game has passed Lindy by. He sucks.
The Devils 100% make the playoffs last year if they promoted Brunette or say had Keefe instead of Lindy. They would've overcame the injury stuff and the goaltending issues would not have been as large of an issue as they were had the team in front of them not been a complete fucking disaster defensively.
Jack literally only had his rookie year before Lindy was there. He does not get to take credit for a 19/20 year old 1OA pick becoming a star.
Lindy wasnt the reason NJ missed the playoffs last season , it was because their dumbass GM let 2 of their best D men walk in free agency , they had terrible goaltending and lost Dougie Hamilton to a season ending injury early in the season.
As a devils fan. The 0-2 arena thing was just funny. But i agree on lindy. Lindy was not the mainissue. It was injuries and goaltending. I like lindy. Same thing goes on with keefe. Toronto fans talking shit about keefe. It is probably not a weird nj fan behaviour but a standard ex coach flaming behaviour...
The hit was late that's why he got 2min... they even reviewed it and they reduced it. So..Hope JJ get well soon but it was not a 10min.. dillon is a big boy. JJ is small and had the head done... keep the head up young blud.. maintarget was not the head at all. even lindy didnt say the hit was dirty... you can listen to his postgame interview..
Good job Adams! Adams woke up Sunday morning and said oh good Boston resigned Swayman now I can waive Reimer and he wont get claimed . WRONG , Shocking , Anahiem who lost their number 1 goalie, John Gibson to injury 10 days ago claimed Reimer !!
So now if UPL or Levi get hurt or shit the bed the goalies in Rochester to call up are Felix the Swedish Sieve Sandstrom or career minor leaguer Michael Houser ! 🤬🤬
Lots of goalkeepers at Reimer's talent level looking for pro work out there. They're probably younger too. No biggie.
Hey Joe, your owner is too involved with things outside of Kevin Adams drafting prospects his front office and his pro scouting is horrible. He has no balls with anything to in love with this prospects to move anybody the Savoie thing we’ll see how that works out.
When Pegula purchased the sabres he claimed he will get the best scouts, trainers, etc. since there is no cap on those people, to get what it takes to get the cup. 5 coaches later, I guess getting a good coach wasn't on that list
Two games into the season. What an unmanly whine is emanating from you. Sabres fans -- the best hockey fans in certain parts of Erie County.
@SneakyJoeSports ... its a new jersey and new york thing I think

Going into the year with $7M in cap space, no big splash addition or trade and they look exactly the same as last year. This franchise and owner are not serious about winning so why should I invest my time and money into this bs?
That's why I watch from home yes I buy some gear hats shirts whatever it's my team but it is pathetic. There is no star players on offense. Just players we are trying to turn into stars.
@@jobojangles1332 I feel the pain... I was born here, so my teams are my teams. The money doesn't bother me, it is my soul that's taking the hits. This club will be a playoff team, this season...I'm tired of being negative 😔
