Wow! Never thought I would see this on our beloved Amiga. One of my favourite doom clones back in the day. Awesome job!!!🙏🙏🙏

This is incredibly smooth even for an AGA 060 Amiga.

I always liked this game. One of the better Star Wars games.
Nice to see a port for the Amiga.

Impresionante. Sin palabras. Vaya suavidad y gráficos. Tengo que mirar los requisitos técnicos pero supongo que serán máximos en el querido Amiga.

Steep system requirements, but looks great. Would only run on a piStorm for me.

are we seeing an AGA screen here?

Surprisingly high hardware requirements. While Dark Forces targeted 486 CPUs and had high 8 MB of RAM requirement it run really well on 386 systems. Much faster than DOOM. It is definitely playable on 386SX 25 MHz in a smaller window, while 386DX should deliver near fullscreen experience. All without FPU. So at the lowest settings it should work on stock Amiga 1200, while being somewhat playable on 68030 machines.

A stock A1200 is roughly the equivalent of a 286 machine with slower memory, think of running code from the VGA VRAM. A 386DX would be closer to a similarly clocked 68030 accelerator with fast RAM.

@@BSzili 386SX is comparable to 286 with the same clock. 386SX was designed to be an affordable option and 16-bit 286 motherboards required minimal redesign to work with 386SX. However 386SX clock range was between 16 and 40 MHz, while 286 was 8-25 MHz only. The biggest advantage 386SX had was ability to run 32-bit code.
This is why I compared A1200 to 386SX. Its lower CPU clock can be mitigated with Amiga's custom hardware. 386SX has to draw graphics and mix audio samples in software. Although in 3D 386SX could be faster.
Anyway I've just pointed out that it should be possible for Dark Forces to run on a stock A1200 (with Fast RAM) and have playable experience on 68030 machine. Yet I understand why such port targeted 68040 and 68060 machines.
On PC side of things we now have awesome Fast DOOM port, that allows to achieve 20+ FPS on 386SX system with new ultra-low graphics settings.
Nostalgia can be weird. Why we want to play games on such underpowered hardware, while we can play these games at 4K 120 FPS on our modern platforms.

@@Leeki85 The in-house developed Mac version needed a 68040 (not an LC) as a minimum, and running in 640x480 wasn't the only reason.

A1200's CPU's performance is held back by a shared memory bus while 386SX-16Mhz with fast VGA has two discrete memory buses.
VGA's chunky pixel format has an advantage.
