Credit the Oilers for playing better "desperation" hockey than the canucks, and pulling off the upset, but baring serious injuries, the canucks should have learned their lesson and be able to eliminate them next time, if they happen to meet.
I'm not sure. Dallas is still deadly, kings have their number and Nashville is way better then last year.

I think the flames will be worse then you think. They finished 9th last with a roster that had all those guys that they traded (Zadorov, Lindholm, Tanev, Hanifin, Markstrom, Mangiapane). I think they’ll be bad, that defence they have is horrendous outside of Weegar and Andersson

Worth noting for the Ducks is that their special teams are not good. Both PP and PK rank in the bottom 3, and taking a league-leading amount of PIM really was the nail in the coffin. If the Ducks can have just the 10th worst in PP, PK and PIM they could be in the wildcard hunt. A lot will depend on how they overhaul their special teams this season.
Thankfully management fired the assistant coach in charge of special teams over the summer. Maybe the box will be less busy in Honda Center this year

Dont like your Jets take. We had Lambert, Heinola and Chibrikov wasting away on the Moose because there were vets in the way. They should make the team this year and the old core can shelter them. With the cap savings we get by playing the kids we can go shopping to replace captain chaos and get a 2nd pairing RHD so Samburg doesnt have to spend entire games bailing out his partner. Iafallo and Appleton can be sold off.

Don't agree with the Flames take. They have those few vets around but dumped basically everyone else. Their prospect pool is growing and I think us flames fans are FINALLY expecting a bottom 5 finish. All the young guys will be fun to watch but I'd say this is definitely a legit rebuild
Hellebuyck is a regular season star and a post season bust it has happened every time the jets make the playoffs ... I hope for the guy to have one good post season so he can get to the greatness that most people tout him with. Until that happens he will be old Bob (before all the playoff success)

This could be the beginning of the LA Kings tanking for the draft lottery, the Pacific is just too good. With Kopitar and Doughty on the backend of their careers there isnt enough improvement to get past any of the top teams.

Some things about some teams:
Hawks: They will be better, but the central is though, and i don`t know what a 33 year old Hall can still bring. The D is still in a bad shape, and though they look better it might not be enough.
Stars: The offense looks fantastic, they have an elite goalie, but i doubt their D is much better.
Avs: Lot of question marks here, how`s Landeskog after 2 years of no hockey, what about Nishuskin, and what about Georgiev?
Preds: They added a lot, and it should make them a very dangerous team in short term.
Wild: Need another year, when the dead cap is gone they can move on.
Flames: Outdated hockey in a pretty empty team. Feels like everyone left, i wouldn`t be surprised if they end up bottom of the league. Hubi isn`t a fit at all, and Kadri can`t solve it all. They still might be too good for the last spot, but loosing Markstrom and having Wolf / Vladar in goal should cost points.
Ducks, Sharks: Not yet, still in rebuild.
Oilers: Perfect offseason, till they lost Holloway and Broberg for kinda nothing. The also traded McLeod, who had tons of speed. Everyone young and fast is gone while they still have a hole on 2nd RD. They need to fill that, then they are a contender.
LAK & Seattle: LA got Dubois out quiet cheap, but overall it`s still a disaster. They traded a lot away for him and got Kuemper back, who`s at this point of his career not even a solid starter anymore. Seattle gave horrible contracts to Stephenson and Montour, but they will help short term. I think Seattle should be ahead of LA now.
VGK: Cap hell, they lost some key players but still should be locked for a top 3 spot in the pacific. I expect Oil, Nucks and VGK to battle it out.
As a former goalie I'd love to have the old Ducks colors to design the equipment to match
The Vegas LTIRs will have karma coming soon. Hawks will (unfortunately) have at least one more season of the Chicago Bedard’s. Sharks may not be nearly as terrible this year but it still won’t be pretty. The blues, wild, and predators will stay in no-man’s land for a hot second. The avs are good if they can get landeskog back, don’t have to deal with Nichuskin’s BS again, and can have a solid goalie. The stars can go die, sorry. Oilers are going to be good again. Coconuts glow to my adopted team. Utah will have an interesting year and I’m excited.
