    I still have the lash adjustment tool with the screwdriver built in from my 73.

    Good video mate and good methodical investigation, look forward to seeing final outcome ! Thanks for taking the time to post, always appreciated !

      Thanks Tom, I'm trying to be very careful with this one as the engine has clearly been apart recently, I'd hate to miss something that ends up being terminal. I'm not wondering if I was a bit keen on starting it up! 😅

      Well we are all a bit too eager to hear things run asap as thats the joy of what we do, get things running after many years of being dormant.
      I have a set of Henry Abe 900cc pistons and a period oil cooler if interested for this project !

      @@tommac9119 Absolutely, it's extremely satisfying!
      Thats interesting, I wasn't really planning to go the big bore route to be honest, but if that changes, 900cc sounds pretty awesome. Cheers 😁

    Another great video. Possible seepage from just not being torqued down tight enough? Hmm.

      Thanks! I've got my fingers crossed that you're correct on that one, but I fear I might find a bit more with this engine. Hopefully nothing too crazy... 😅

      Cheers Alan, I can foresee a lot more to come on this engine, although hopefully it turns out to be better than I think.

      Cheers Mark, I'll be delving a bit deeper into this engine. There's something fishy about it to say the least. Hopefully not too many unpleasant surprises within though. 🤞

    The head definitely hasn't been re tensioned after the last build.

    When loosening the head bolts should you not start with the outside i.e. last bolt on tightening and work inwards? Great video, I just need same high standard instructional for Kat 1000!

      Ahh great point, I should definitely have followed it in the reverse sequence. I'm pretty confident that it'll be okay as I've still followed a pattern that should have released the pressure from the head evenly. Well spotted sir!

    You should have powdered the engine to find the exact location of oil leaks. A can of penetrant testing powder will point right to the leak.

      Could see it dripping :) Once I opended it up I found a few things that were causing the leak(s) hopefully I will cure them with the rebuild.

    Can you share the brand and type perhaps of hat engine holder? I just removed my engine and need to work on it .. pretty heavy stuff actually.

    Looks like they bored for 85mm pistons and used 84mm pistons.

    • @SPANNERRASH
      @SPANNERRASH  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Turned out the are 64.5mm giving 823cc despite being marked 812. Seems Yoshi did a few of these.

    Cb 750's ONLY leak oil IF they are NOT built properly !!!

    • @SPANNERRASH
      @SPANNERRASH  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha, but it could be said about any bike! Honda made a lot of changes to stop leaks over the production of the SOHC so somebody mustn't have been building them properly in the factory. I am just making the decision to ignore one of their changes when building this engine back up, the episode will be out in a few weeks :) it should be easy to guess what, but as a clue it involves sixteen parts.
