- John Mayall, the linchpin of the British blues scene who gave a platform to some of the 20th century’s greatest rock musicians including Eric Clapton and members of Fleetwood Mac, has died aged 90.
A statement on Mayall’s Instagram page announced his death, saying the musician died on Monday at his home in California. “Health issues that forced John to end his epic touring career have finally led to peace for one of this world’s greatest road warriors,” the post said.
Rest well king

What a legend John Mayall rest in peace !
So bad
Saw him immediately pre-covid in Melb, Australia & he was ready to tour for years yet.Seems his lungs etc got really knocked around during the covid period. One hell of a strong, artistically gifted guy- hugely pragmatic & practical.Talking about why he worked on decorating & customizing his guitars like that he said:'That was to try to distract from the fact that I couldn't play'.Gotta love it!
We loved him. Always will.
I loved his music
Thank you Bluesmaster John Mayall..thank you for the music and all the rest, all your creations ❤. Thank you!

RIP, King John. Greetings from Indonesia.
I knew John, ( Slightly) Manchester, England, UK ( 1961 ) I went to John's, house a few times in that year with some of his Manchester, Friends, listening some of his imported Jazz albums. John was a fan of U.S.A. Hard Bop Jazz.
Anyway, Peace to all !!
So sad
Sorely missed 😢. First I was a fan, and later on a friend. Crushing news . . .
Superb musician launched so many musicians
An icon. Back in the mid 60’s I lived near the Bromley Court Hotel, Bromley, Kent. U.K. and it was one small club on the circuit where bands/group of perhaps the best days toured. I enjoyed John Mayall & the Blue Breakers many times, ( post Clapton ) but still as good with Pete Green. John with his Hammond M102, his 9 strings guitar and custom box of ( A-G keys ) of harmonicas. He apparently was a Commercial Artist ( like me ) before he turned a Pro Musician. ( see how well his name was hand painted on the front of his Hammond. In the 70’s I saw that Hammond for sale in St.Giles Organ Centre quite near Denmark St. London. Thanks for sharing your amazing life John. R.I.P.
May he rest in peace
