When I first bought my horse I could also feel that connection, 2 1/5 years later I still feel that connection/bond she is going to be such a good one!!
Awww 😍! She is so cute and you definitely are a true horse girl, looking for the best in the horse and taking time to decide. I hope the upcoming years are filled with joy with your new pal ❤
E velyn, You made a great choice in this yearling filly . Over the 40 years I owned rode and drove horses . I raised several Percheron /Thoroughbred Cross Horses who turned out to be outstanding riding and driving horses. One great horse named Shaker I raised turned out to be a decent hunter and I also as part of his training I taught him to drive and he was driven in a high wheeled cross country cart and a Mennonite 2 seater bobsled sleigh in winter.
Steve Young is a very good trainer with a soft hand. He lives in Wales (UK) but sometimes travels to America.Watch his videos. So much to learn from him.
Congratulations Evelyn. You have a new horse now and a great responsibility to build a new relationship. I think you made a wonderful choice. God bless you and your family. Peter the Pilgrim.
FIRST VID I WATCHED OF YOURS AND ALREADY LOVE YOUR CHANNEL. YOU SEEM SO SWEET AND KIND AND PATIENT… ❤❤❤ YOU JUST EARNED A NEW SUBSCRIBER!!! ❤❤❤❤ also I know for a fact I will binge watch your videos all day 😂
Woohoo, what a BEAUTY - she is gorgeous!!! Congratulations!!! 🥰 She came to the perfect person and home! I'm so thrilled for you!!!! And as sad as it was to see Spots go, she's still with family, not too far away and in such good company with Danny. 😊
Congratulations! She is so gorgeous! QH and Percheron are two of the BEST breeds you can get. I know retiring Spots was very bittersweet, 🥲 but I can’t wait to watch this little filly learn and grow!❤
you made the right choice, spot is happy, and you are too! this little mare looks so pretty, we’ll all miss spot so much but she’ll be able to be happy when she’ll. settle and get along. edit: sorry for grammar im french
Your channel was suggested so I watched you and your new horse. I have a young Morab so I will be watching and learning as well. Congratulations on your new filly!
She's absolutely gorgeous, I'm so happy for you Evelyn! She looks like she has a lovely temperament and her breeding is so amazing too! You guys will be awesome together and I can tell that you will be able to develop a great bond. I think spending loads of time with her is key, both training wise and also just hang out time. But of course you know this ❤ HUGE congratulations!!! 🐴🎉🎉
I looked at like 8 horses and never really understood having a connection until I found mine and I instantly loved him. And I felt like he instantly liked me to!
Hi Evelyn, I bet it was difficult to keep your eyes on God throughout theq service, knowing you were about to pick up your new horse! Thanks for another lovely video, Dave UK
Well I'm glad you can see the draft in her. I don't see it at all.😮 She has a "fineness" about her that no draft has. They do have great calm personalities, so good luck!!!.
Hi, new here. Beautiful horse. I think eating down low also helps prevent colic. Not an expert tho. Based on your training interests you may want to check out Free Spirit Equestrian if you haven’t already. Best to you!
@@EvelynsFarmDiaries oh I’m so glad! You can follow along with her foal training! Just thought of another one - Kory O’Connor of Horse Plus Humane Society. They probably have a playlist of his training videos. They don’t make as many training videos now, but the many they have made are so good.
In Oregon we NEVER leave halters on so horses don't rub and get -dont want to say .I just saved a draft cross from the kill pen in Bowie-I am waiting for her to come.
We feed no grain to draft crosses -maybe a ration balancer low sugar-the draft cross can get sugar Insulin Resistance -ggod grass hay and a small amount of green grass
I sure hope you saw how she moved, really examined her legs, feet, palpated her back, examined her teeth and mouth. I'm sure you'll have a vet check too.
Congratulations! Shes gorgeous! I have a qh gelding! Percherons are so pretty! And I get what you mean about McDonald's 😂 I havent ate there since December! Yuck 😂
she is a solid cross breed, fantastic mix imo. however she took on the shorter side of the mix because percherons tend to be on the larger taller side in fact i was blessed to have a friend who was into riding like i was but she was a bit more advanced than me at the time, but her riding instructor would love us to always take the time to visit her and hang out and the rider instructor had a gorgeous percheron mare she cross bred with a thoroughbred stallion as we got to see a year later the offspring foal and he was to die for. I never seen such a beaut in my life for a newborn foal and they say all foals are all legs but he was more leg than i have ever seen to this day years later and tragically he was romping around fell and broke his leg when he was only 3 weeks old so for the next two months he hopped along with a cast on his leg but as he got older he recovered so well that it was as if it never happened but he was a giant like well over 17 hands and swift like the wind. I am sure he has passed away by now since that was back in the early 90's. I got side tracked here, congratz to a great purchase!
What a beauty 😍 love to see you both grow and bond together. Your future plans made me think of free spirit equestrian youtube channel. Maybe check her out if not already. I think you could learn alot from her. ❤
Calling a yearling a project is kinda far fetched. Most people who breed on a large scale don’t teach their babies much until they’re yearlings anyway.
Yearlings are a huge project. They are babies and therefore have so much to learn and a huge future ahead of them! Everything they learn at this age will add up to what they will become when they are older and will influence their manners, temperament and how easy it will be to ride/train them in the future. They are also young, with no experience and it can be frustrating and difficult working with young horses. So much hard work goes into it :)
This will be like a 6 year project for me. I can’t just hop on her tomorrow because she isn’t physically or mentally ready. She’s also the first horse I’ve ever trained to this is very much a project for me. I didn’t say she was a problem horse. I said she was a project.
She wasn't to sure at first but i think your little filly ended up making a good choice.. You do know it wasn't your choice right? Much love and Thanks so much for Sharing
My Yearling is 13.1hh at a year old, im predicting she's gonna be around 16hh and im so excited😂. Good luck with your filly!🤍 My filly was an un touched yearling, and when we went to get her, so she was terrified of people. And when we got there, some men man handled her, flipped her over onto her head SO many times, ect... so now she HATES men.. and sadly there was nothing i could do but watch in Horror. Not to mention, they rode a 2 hear old that had only been backed for 2 weeks to come rope her when she got to strong for them..🙄🥺 It has taken some time, but she trusts me... just not the rest of my family 😅 And... she kicked our farrier in the elbow. But hes ok luckily!🤍
Wow! First of all, It's terrible that she had to go through that!! poor girl! I'm so glad you were able to build up trust with her 😊 I'm so excited to see how big Maggie gets! Do you have any guesses at your filly's breed? Also, the reason the audio is TERRIBLE on this video is because I got copyrighted for some soundtrack and I tried to take it out through TH-cam but now it sounds TERRIBLE 😭 So that's why lol.
@EvelynsFarmDiaries I thought the audio was ok lol, i have had the same thing happen to me🤦♀️ And we have her mom, too, so her previous owner said that her mom (Sierra) is a quarter horse/draft cross. She's 15.2hh And my filly is supposed to be Quarter horse/Draft/ and then her sire is gaited, so she moves VERY smoothly, but she's not gaited!🤍 And her sire is 17hh, apparently. 🤷♀️
@EvelynsFarmDiaries Me too! she has tried to jump our fence 4 times, so i plan to do some jumping with her when she's older. She also jumps logs that are in our field. lol, it's so funny to watch
If this is her first time away from home, she was very level-headed. I think you've made a great choice.
She did amazing! I’m so proud of her!!
Your dad was right, she's a prize. Calm ,inquisitive a real beauty. What a wonderful future for you both. 🐎😊
