I was a student at Worsley Mesnes Primary and finished in 2018. I came back in July 2022 for my work experience and was in the year 5 classroom with the children. This is amazing! Well done.
I teach in FE but I feel strongly that the same ideas can be applied to 16+ students and adults. A couple of the adults I teach when first entering the classroom I've been 'modifying' said "it feels like a primary school classroom" I said good, that's not too far from what I am aiming for.
I completely agree! All educational settings need to change. Its crazy that we are still creating environments that were made for a totally different era. We must move on!
Hey Lucy! Much of the design and ethos would stay the same for years 1-2 - a calm area/ soft lighting / photo wall/ plants and homely furniture. The only consideration is furniture size. We are currently looking at different options for lower years to make sure its accessible and functional but still in line with our Therapeutic classroom approach. 😊 Once we have a plan, we will create an episode on it!
