Amazing tutorial, I'm confident to assume you watched a whole lot of bad tutorials in the past so you know how to make a good one! Very simple, concise and short!
Thank you so much! This was actually so helpful and just what I was looking for, you explained everything very well. Turns out I was saving all my sprites with the wrong bit depth 😅
@@catinsured im a bit late but how do you change sprites of characters [so isaac has cheese on his forehead on spawn] i tried the same way hut it isnt working.
Amazing how easy it is to make sprite replacements, really love how indie games just give us those tools with the game. Made a little troll bomb replacer mod in like 10 minutes
If I'll make myself to actually sit still and not drop my project and it'll actually start to be official I want to thank you for being my guider in this dark journey.
I enjoy so very much that very single video about nodding shows the same thing as if no one else may be to that step and might be looking for the one's to get there
I created an item sprite with all the requirements you said (32 bit depth, right directories, etc.) but when I load into the game, my sprite is completely empty.
I've checked countless of tutorials but I keep coming across a similar problem... One tutorial tells me I need to place my mods in the 'Documents > My Games' folder of Isaac, but that folder simply doesn't appear to me. And although I can find the Isaac folder in 'steamapps > common' I can't find the mods folder there either, like it says in this video.
Many options available. GIMP, a very popular one. Krita, the one I’m using, pretty good photoshop replacer. even MS paint is a viable option believe it or not!
Could you make a tutorial on the creation of the sprite? it isn't working for me, and I THINK it's either because the files are not representing the base game files correctly (ex. monsters not counting as monsters) or i didn't format it correctly. If the only way to stop correct formatting is with the 32 bit stuff, I can figure it out. Btw, this was a great, straightforward tutorial
Thank you so much for the tutorial, so I have the problem before like "uninstalling this mod" description right after open the game file and after I do this 1:05 (ResourceExtractor) the problem is solve and I can Extract the MOD to the file Mods OR maybe just change the MOD name without number in it
Great video, but for some reason the items textures seem to be stuck on afterbirth+, are the repentance ones located in another folder or did I do something wrong?
shoot, sorry i missed this message! the mod uploader in the "tools" folder in the game's directory allows you to add a thumbnail. you can also just add it after you've uploaded the mod.
@@catinsured there are some items I want to find like Guppy's Eye Collar but even in the same collectibles folder I cant seem to find it since its a repentance only item

Isaac expects your items to be in very specific directories. You can view my mod by following the github link in the description and compare the file path to the sprite with yours.
Sorry to interrupt you, but I wanted to make a lil goofy resprite of the D6 and then replace it with the face of one of my friends, but I tried and did every step by step like you did, and it just doesn't work. I scaled his face in 3D Paint because I thought it was the easiest way to do it by just scaling his face around 21×22 pixels like the D6 and then all of a sudden I looked into the folder for the normal D6 sprite, and it wasn't there 💀 but then I opened the game and the normal sprite is still there, but my mine isn't pls help.
Ive followed everything exactly and it doesnt change the sprite it only shows up with the base D6 (i even got asesprite just for it :( ) so do u know why its happening? EDIT: I put .png in the file name lol

Will you one day make a tutorial on how to create a new playable character?
yay now I can add a new color to the Item charge bar
Yes I plan to make tutorials for most things in Isaac. New tutorial will be releasing in less than an hour.

what should i do if some of folders are .xml?? help pls😭😭
has this method changed ever since repentogon came out?
no, repentogon is a script extender, meaning it only adds on or makes fixes to the existing lua API. it does not change how a mod is made

i tried the tutorial but the sprites wouldn't work

what program did you used to make sprite
I used Aseprite. You can buy it on Steam or you can go through the somewhat complicated process of compiling it yourself.

yes, any sprite

if im going to change a familiar's sprites i would have to put both the "familars" and the "items" folder in the resources folder right?
Check out where the sprites are located in the game's resources folder, then replicate that. So you'd need to do both of that, yes.
