Thank you for addressing the negativity around Vidbir. It was really frustrating to see all those comments because, honestly, I don’t think this year’s selection is bad at all. There are some really nice songs, and we all know that with the right staging, they’ll shine even more. It’s not about wanting my country to be on top all the time-I just want people to appreciate our music and recognize the talented Ukrainian artists who continue to create beautiful songs despite the war.
I love these songs, the combination of unique sounds and strong beautiful lyrics!
тим паче пісні де-яких країн, що завжди попадають в фінал євробачення, інколи набагато нудніші та прісніші ніж в учасників відбору!
As a Ukrainian I really loved your comment about the whole “non political rule” in Eurovision. Yes our everyday experience is war and we simply cannot send a silly song without mentioning the war at least in some way. That would just feel very wrong. Thank you so much for pointing it out🙏🙏🙏🙏
Listening to "Salt" makes me feel deeply Eastern European xD It's hard to explain, but there's something about this genre, mixed with the visuals in the video, and the Ukrainian language that speaks to my soul. It just perfectly fits the vibe of out part of the world, somehow.
I feel your words too. "Salt" speaks to how how feel deep in my heart too (in these tender and dangerous times).
It's the depression and ruin 😆 soviet and post-soviet survival ahahha
@@insenkiv4619 Well... To be fair, my actual first thought was that it sounds like I'm in 1980s Poland running home during a dark December evening to get off the street before the martial law curfew starts. But I had to make that imagery more palatable for TH-cam comments xD
@PersonaNG-oo7ku this describes the experience perfectly 😅😁
There's also translation of the words under the video. Just in case
thank you for being so kind here! i am so sick of the eurovision fandom this season. they want us to not qualify so bad. and this vidbir is literally so good... ziferblat stole my heart and dk energetyk is amazing too.
Hey Maxxy, thanks for the reaction. It is a random running order, participants were pulling cards with numbers from a pot, this is what they do every year in Vidbir. Totally agree with you about the negativity online, but speaking specifically of Vidbir, for me it looks like Ukraine is at this point in their eurovision history where people just simply want to see them fail just because. This is a small minority of people of course, but they are just waiting for Ukraine to do bad, that`s why we keep getting comments like 'this will be their first nq' etc
Hi from Ukraine and thank you so much for such a great heartwarming reaction, wish you all the best! 💫☺
I was really looking forward to your reaction. Since you liked DK Energetik, you might want to listen to more from this genre (by the way, it’s post-punk). So, I recommend you Sadsvit (his first album is more melancholic, but overall, he’s not as gloomy as DK Energetik), Анастимоза (post-punk, in general, has very few women, so a female voice in this genre sounds unique) and Sudno(they are more similar to DK Energetik). All of these artists had songs featured in the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which gave them a surge in popularity some time ago.
Finally someone appreciates DK ❤
It’s SO good!
I like this selection because of its diversity, and I like it so much, even though many reviewers did not like this selection of songs. But for me, as a Ukrainian, it is very important because of the different choices, it is a reflection of our preferences in music. The kind of lyrics it is full of, its sound. Honestly, I often cry listening to some of the songs from the selection
Sorry for this being so late you guys!! I’m in Finland right now for UMK so I have so so much going on but I’m having the time of my life vlogging everything for you guys to see later!!
omg, she be cooking some content for us 💜
Hi Maxxy! 💙💛 I was waiting for your reaction. Thank you very much for your support, your thoughts and perspective shared. I completely agree on the toxicity of the ESC fandom that has become really unpleasant and over the top in the past few years. We definitely need more positivity and effort not to plunge into the negativity especially now in these dark days.
Warmest regards and best wishes from 🇺🇦!
Thank you for your disclaimer about war in the everyday live of people. Any form of art reflects events, emotions, or pain points of people who live in that society. It would be strange if people who feel anxiety, fear, and pain would be singing about pink ponies. Everyone have someone who died, lost home, civilians who didn't die from missile attacks but "suffered" could lose their limbs or be the only survival from their family. All this songs about war even if you couldn't see it at first.
Abie song is manifest against women abuse. She was volunteering and helping women from occupied territories.
Molodi doesn't resonate with the majority of international viewers but it definitely will be a hit in Ukraine. They are from Mariupol on the sea that was destroyed and they literally sing about their sea and home that they lost literally.
You are so eloquent and explained how war and politics bleed into music so beautifully x
Amazing reaction
What a great understanding of our Ukrainian reality , your comments are so wise and deep
Sending love ❤
I love "Sil" - one of my two favorite songs of the Eurovision Nation Final Season. The lyrics are excellent (possibly the best lyrics of the year).
Thank you for this reaction, it was very fun to watch! Also, love your look and your takes on the songs. Sending good vibes from Ukraine 💙💛
Thank you for your reaction. Thank you for highlighting excessive negativity around vidbir from international fans. I was really frustrated and upset. For be this year is the strongest national selection. I added almost all songs to my playlist
Hey Maxxy, thanks for the review. I was waiting on it.
Hello from Ukraine🤗
Thank you for your reaction❤ with love and big hugs from Ukraine🥰
Couldn't wait for your reaction 💗
The producer of the show changed and this year and it's Tina Karol who's in charge :) that's why Vidbir feels different from the last few years.
Many people are surprised to see a post-punk band like DK Enerhetyk in selection, but they were included primarily because this music genre is on a huge rise in Ukraine among youth and armed forces, and I can't blame Tina for wanting to include their music tastes as a part of the music representation of our country.
Overall, good selection of songs. As Ukrainian, I don't feel offended or underrepresented by any of them.
And great reaction, thanks a lot 💕
I enjoyed your reaction! And thank you so much for your remarks that during the war it is difficult to sing and present something cheerful and carefree. Thank you for your understanding!
Love your reactions.
MOLODI - My sea is a song about displaced people due to war. Guys are from the 450,000 population city of Mariupol, destroyed in 2022 by Russia. The song starts with words:
"Do you remember the last time you slept at home?
Your pillow is made of stone" - it means that once they got ousted from their city, they can't really find a new place which would feel themselves at home, and every place is strange, no matter where they go. The chorus in ukrainian means: "No matter how many new worlds I have seen, in my heart there will always be my sea, and nobody can take it from me my memories". This makes many ukrainians cry, because the song actually very precisely transmits the feelings. Sure one of the main favorites and I will vote for them too.
Other favorites are Khayat (because he is the strongest performer, and the song is nice too, with very big potential for staging), FIINKA (super charismatic girl, singing in Hutsul dialect and music style of people living in Carpathian mountains, combining it with modern pop and rap), Ziferblat (nice band, very good and respectful personalities in all interviews, with good, sophisticated song and vocals)
Many foreigners root for Masha, but I don't think it's the best choice, her vocal is not very strong live, however the staging may be stunning. So we'll see.
You are so funny 😀, you probably haven't heard Fiinka, Tsiferblat sing live, it's impossible to listen to, only backing vocals can pull them out. I listened to Maria on The Voice of Ukraine, from a live video on Tik Ok, so no need to tell me who can't sing live.
@Truth-x3m yes, but FIINKA is more about stage performance, fun, unique style. The vocal is not the main thing in her entry, it will be completely OK with a nice back vocalist. Ziferblat sing quite good, and they also have nice music and different style.
While Masha has a typical eurovision friendly pop song, relied on stage and vocals. She can sing, sure, but her singing is not enough for high places Ukraine got used to have. Her performance of 'Someone you loved' on Voice Ukraine was very weak. Come on, in Basel there will be singers with super vocal like Loreen and Nemo. Masha can't compete with them at all. She can sing nice, but that's not enough. While Khayat's vocal can compete with anybody, and MOLODI have nice competitive vocal too.
українці навіть не розуміють, наскільки усі претенденти є унікальними талановитими та сильними артистами! Я пишаюсь усіма! 😽💙💛🔱🇺🇦🙌
Thank you for your great reaction! You’re so nice and cozy, im gonna follow you 💛💙
Have been waiting for your reaction to Vidbir 2025 - and you didn't disappoint! You got it - the complexity of the songs, the darkness, but ultimately how good most of them are. ❤
Thanks for your reaction! I finally enjoyed how someone analyzes the selection process and its participants. I fully support the calls for positivity and an optimistic outlook on life!
oh I love love love how gracefully you call out these toxic fandoms. You found the right words. Legend
Thank you for this reaction❤
I'm really pleased to see for your reaction and hear your opinion about the Ukrainian selection
About esc twitter, this is absolutely true. I have been at a crossroads for several months now. I like to read opinions and share my own. But to see a lot of negativity from fans is terrible. People, if you don't like every thing you see, just rethink your life 🙏🏻
Drink every time Maxxy says it's her favorite song 😅😅 Thank you for the most honest review! You're fabulous as usual ⭐
💯
Thank you for this reaction ❤
So lovely to hear your positive and wise thoughts on Eurovision and all the stress around selections ☺️
Thank you for sincere review 😍 I like your reaction 👍
Yes thank you! Always going to Love Eurovision! As an American , I found Cd's through Greek friends in 2003 and only since the App and You tube and people like you have I been completely immersed in it. I love seeing all the countries and their contributions and the ridiculousness and the rawness, and the plain party of it all. Music is therapy and pleasure to me, and I love this as such a huge supply every year of both !
Finally, I’ve been waiting for your reaction! Thank you for the review of all the songs from Vidbir. Masha Kondratenko and Ziferblat are favorites among Ukrainians, so one of them will be heading to Basel this year. And I would also like to thank you for understanding the situation and the state we, Ukrainians, are in right now, and for your kind words of support!🙏🏻💙💛 This means a great deal to us. Sincere greetings from Ukraine!💋
Thank you for your reaction ❤
Дякую за реакції і підтримку України ❤️
Thank you for nice review, and songs were actually fine 🤝👌🏾
Максі, мені подобається Твій лук! Ти добра людина, дякую за чуттєву реакцію😽❤️👌
Appreciate your support and words about our everyday reality🙏🏼
Thank you for this reaction) we have a lot of songs, we love this activity))) but for your words about war... I want to say a big thank you ❤🩹
For the third year in a row, many in Europe are still trying to distance themselves from this topic. But the truth is that more countries are already feeling that there is a risk to their peace. Well, I hope peace will come soon and no one will have to go through such an experience.
the instrument plays in the song "home" ("dim") is called drymba
27:18 AMEN
Thank you so much for your reaction! It’s always a joy to see your enthusiasm and deep appreciation for the artists. Can’t wait to see more of your reactions! 💙💛

@MaxxyRainbowESC and the most entertaining one too! I don't comment often but I've been watching your content for years. I love both your sense of humour and your humanity :) I haven't watched the Eurovision last year, and I'll skip this year too (it feels a little uncanny rn). But I'll keep watching your videos!
🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
🎶 An incredible instrument in the second performance - Abiye!
This is a traditional Ukrainian musical instrument from the western part of Ukraine, particularly from the Hutsul region. It is called the drymba.
🎶 The drymba is an ancient jaw harp belonging to the group of self-sounding instruments (idiophones). It consists of a metal frame and a flexible tongue (reed) attached in the center. The sound is produced by vibrating the reed, while the performer’s mouth acts as a resonator, changing the timbre and volume.
⚒️ Traditionally, the drymba was handcrafted by blacksmiths and artisans. It was mainly made from iron, and sometimes from brass or other metal alloys. There is a theory that some craftsmen in the past may have repurposed spring mechanisms from old mechanical clocks, but this is not considered a classical manufacturing technique.
🌍 Today, the drymba remains a popular ethnic instrument among musicians performing traditional and experimental music. It is widely used in folk ensembles and modern ethno-jazz or fusion arrangements. 🎵✨
TNX for ur review❤ those 5 songs r deserve to enter in any playlists
thank you sm for ur reactions, i love ur videos sm! sending love from Ukraine💕
Thank you for your reflections. I appreciate them. I need and love music, and I love the countries that participate in Eurovision (even if I don't love the songs they choose some years).
Appreciate your reaction, it was enjoyable to watch.
I love your energy, Maxxy! And that wiiig, girl!
I have to agree. Ukraine it's been my favourite country in Eurovision for many years.
дякую за теплі слова💛💙😽🫶
Thank you for your words and support! It flatters when a foreigner understands what we are going through. Unfortunately...
Btw like your pronunciation of ukrainian names, sounds really like native 🤗
You are so eloquent in your reviews, I believe I saw it last year as well. I wish you could do more reviews for example the Grammys performances. In regards to Ukraine I preferred Masha and Ziferbla
cool didnt know you knew someone from drag race , being in love with esc and drag race is such a blessing ^^
Thank you so much, your reaction is so nice, it gives me such joy to see the songs of my country presented by you.
I think this year is very strong, full of very nice singers and bands, so good luck to our country in Euro 2025❤
Yes the order of performances is random chosen by artists through draw
Dk Energhetyk being the closing act kinda fits because they have been really viral in Ukraine recently and i think they are more for the promotion here rather than actually going to the eurovision
You say we put the best songs at the end, but in reality the contestants pull out the performance numbers randomly.
my fav reaction so far, you're great
Ziferblat is a winner in Ukraine! 👌😊🔥
Krylata's entry was even better when performed live. You should totally watch it !❤
thank you for this reaction, Maxxy! the warmest hug from Kyiv ✨
Aaaaaah finally! You’ve done this 💅
pure love, ty
Hi Maxxy! Kindness will save the world❤️ love from Ukraine
You are a QUeen which we all adore✨✨ so excited to spend this Eurovision season with you☺️
A lot of cool songs this year!
Yes, the participants randomly drew the numbers of the performances in a lottery. Therefore, the order of the performances does not have any producer's vision.
Finally 🥰🥰,thank you for your reaction ❤️❤️❤️
24:53 Ziferblat won and would go to the Eurovision
“Stay true” gave me chills, my new favorite
(gives Nemo and Victoria vibes for me)
Have fun at UMK!1
Finally! I was waiting for your reaction, thank you from Ukraine
Ziferblat is stunning 😍
I love your makeup. 🤩
In the video you asked so much about songs being in this order. So, the order of the songs is made, depending on the number on the cards they have randomly got. I think somewhere there should be the video, how the cards were drawn by the participants. Anyway, thanks for the video!
24:13 this band became hugely popular because of the game Chernobyl. This is the sound of the game
Diva thx for video 😭💜
I always love your outfits and reactions ❤
hello from Ukraine, thanks for reacting
the look!!! 🩵🩵🩵
I love your reactions ♥️🇺🇦🏳️🌈
Hello from Ukraine!) Thank you for support!)
Finally some appreciation for Krylata! It’s one of my favourites this year but I see like no hype for it
Thank you for these words at the end of the video. You are right! Ukrainians perceive the national selection for Eurovision too personally and too negatively. It is probably in our culture.
Why were the Cossack chieftains successful voivodes?! Because if this chieftain does not lead to victory, they will remove him.
Thank you for your reaction and love ❤
Krylata, Fiïnka, Masha, and Ziferblat are all great choices I think!
6:36 - I highly recommend you watch a life performance of Molody on this year vidbir - they are much better, the drama is filling very emotional . For the information: the song is about theirs home in Mariupol city, which is occupied and totally ruined by russians. Guys were in Kyiv on 24 of Fabruary in 2022, so they stay alive, but Kyryll's (the guy who sing this song) father is missing in Mariupol, almost three years nobody knows where he is.
Thank you for attention to Ukraine.
💙💛
❤❤❤
My top
1. Abie
2. Molodi
3. Masha
4. Ziferblat
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
krylata❤️
The best reaction I've seen for Vidbir. FiЇnka, well... What you read as Ukrainian traditional way of singing ("Stephania", Ruslana and a lot of other singers on Vidbir) is based on folk traditions of Western Ukrainians, who also well known for being right orientated in politics and traditionalists with all that comes along (you guess what, darling). And the lyrics celebrate this identity. Ukraine is diverse enough in folk traditions as well and we've seen a bit too much of Western Ukrainian representatives for last years. Not everyone will be happy with what I tell you, but you got to know. About Khayat, I read his song as a story of some personal relationship drama as well. I loved the studio version, but I didn't like the live performance at all. I woted for Ziferblat. ДК Енергетик are 100% mine faves, so true and real but not for Eurovision. I'm subscribed 🤩😘
Thanks a lot from the invictus Ukraine 🇺🇦 !
❤
We 😍 u
