    Honestly, I think it's really cool that Drake actually sounded great and like his normal performances on the Lauten Audio LS-208. What are your thoughts?

    • @jas_bataille
      @jas_bataille ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Microphone is important but an artist at this level is going sound like themselves no matter what they use. Having said that, I think it's a great microphone! I need t to point something out tho : 135dBs SPL is a whole lot more than any snare drum's max level. The max SPL handling is a technical *physical* spec, meaning it's the max the capsule can tolerate before physically breaking!! BTW 135dBs is a shotgun at 3-5 feet!!! Keeping in mind that the SPL level double every 10dBs and that 120 is the treshold of pain, 135dBs rupture you ear drum pretty much on the spot! There is absolutely no sound that could ever be produced in a studio... unless your artist is a little bit too gangsta xD

    I have a slate digital ml1 with a kaotica. I want something i can get on the Road with and record in untreated Spaces. The kaotica makes my vocal takes shit cause i have a deep voice. Would you sell the ml-1 and get this or keep the ml1?

    • @WIIMTheMusician
      @WIIMTheMusician ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Buy it and try it, and if u like it then sell the ML1. I personally think the Kaotica or any of those foam shields don’t work well at all. Nothing beats a treated room (or even a closet with dense clothing LOL). And since this Lauten mic is detailed like condensers, but has noise rejection like a dynamic…. I’m sold. Just ordered mine and I already have a TLM 103 and Lauten Atlantis.

    My issue with Lauten mics is that it doesn't sit in a mix well without alot of EQ and compressors and their mics are prone to plosives. I'm not sure how Neumann does it, but Neumann U87 AI is quite plosive resistant, I'm not sure if it's their capsule or the way they make the grille, but it works.

    • @jas_bataille
      @jas_bataille ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The U87 is plosive resistant... really? I mean I have never heard the AI model live. But how can a side-address microphone reputed for a large frequency response and hi-fi qualities could be more plosive resistant than a front address, dark condenser designed for modern vocals and hip-hop? I'm at a bit of a loss tbh. The U87 is a lot less boomier than most microphones, meaning it doesn't have any weird resonance from plosives, which a microphone like the AT2020 would have (it's driving me NUTS lol) or other cheaper mics. But it's more more resistant to plosives, at least I don't see how... besides you can just put a pop filter. I don't get why this is even a concern... because if "plosive resistance" is paramount without filter then I dunno get a SM57?! LMAO

  • @itsnatesmith
    @itsnatesmith ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Mine came in the mail a couple days before this freestyle dropped and when I saw it I thought what good timing lol. For anyone interested in getting this, I 100% recommend it. They call it the SM7b killer and for good reason. Yes it’s more expensive than the SM7b but when you consider the fact you’d be spending money for both the Shure and possibly a cloud lifter, they’re roughly the same price.
    It has the rejection of a dynamic mic but the clarity of a condenser. Since I’ve got it, I’ve mainly been using it to track guitars (which sound incredible), but the small sample I’ve done on vocals was super impressive. I also own a Lauten Clarion and these 2 have become my favorite mics. I really think this mic is going to be the new classic.

      Just wondering can you actually confirm that this is the mic used for the audio we are hearing… I only asked bc a few things… the audio is off with the video (its pretty bad) also right before he starts his “freestyle” you hear some metal sounding object ( personally sounds like a chain to me, meaning the mic is picking up stuff near his chest area) but you don’t hear anything else… drake is damn near a rubber bag should be noise from that jacket as well ( i understand what noise gates are too ) im just wondering if the audio we are hearing was recorded separate… for some reason this just didn’t come off genuine to me… hope this doesn’t come off as hate

    • @LautenAudio
      @LautenAudio ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@username4755 Yes, it's the 208. Devvon would need to comment on the processing, but I believe it was run through the HMD Rosetta EQ and a good bit of compression. The metal sound in the intro is the chains on their neck. You can hear much more of it at the end. Regarding sync, the video is simply one or two frames off, which is easy to miss in an edit you're trying to get out fast. Listen to all the chain and clothing noises starting at 4:35 for further examples. Hope this helps
