I cheered every time a handle came out as you pulled in the beginning. I have a handle tool, but the metal part is not tipped. I didnt have a lot of success when I tried mine, and put it aside. I though didn't dip it in water first, and I also went faster on pulling it through before I got more experience. You more skillfully pulled the handle trimmer through the clay. I sure appreciate you making this video and will use your techniques. Thank you Vaughan!
Thanks, I muzzled a yippee each time they came out with the tool. I may try rolling a slab next time, the thickness of the tool, as someone suggested, though more wedging that way.
My son bought my some extruders for Christmas. I have made 12 mugs and used the extruders to make my handles. The handles turned out so pretty, and I can make them so fast. I sure can't throw as many mugs as you in a day or even come close.
Very cool tools! Thanks for the time trials 😉. I can see the benefit, for me, of not having to wait for my hand pulled handles to set up a bit before attaching.
Nice tools! Love the way you made them come right out of the block. I agree with your assessment as well; the middle one is the one... Thanks for the great demo. jw
Love all your video's! I am trying to throw pottery and today for the first day everything falls together! Thanks for all your inspiring videos en lessons, when I got stuck it helpt me to get further. I do not know how to send a picture of what I made, but I even made 2 indentical bowls!🎉 Greetings ellen from Holland
You make these pulled handles look so easy! Maybe it is the tools, maybe it is the skill & patience! I have tried with similar but different handle makers with very messy results. On the weather front - I heard the thunder and wonder h ow you made out in the big rain event yesterday. So much rain in your area, I hope you are alright. We are still sweltering and tinder dry here and would love to have a moderate amount of rain.
The T&L lasted 30 hours, thousands of strikes across the province, so glad we had rain too. The coming week is sunny and hot, go Zucchinis. I wish you a wet summer.
Just a suggestion: If you start with a straight line then wiggle it just a little, then finish with a straight line, it will make an interesting handle that is a bit wonky but nice.
I LOVE Bill's chattering tools too!!!
Great video. Interesting how the "feel " of the piece changes with the different handles.
Your such a good teacher and so calming . And great content .
Thank you

So very very interesting and helpful information!
I could watch this all day!!
Fantastic to watch!!!!
As usual, a great video! Hope you are not affected by the flooding in Nova Scotia.
We are fine. Having a house on a hill is a good move.
Sure wish artisan pottery tools handles came individually
Ask Bill he seems like a nice guy.

You’re such an amazing teacher Vaughn!!
I keep buying new handle making tools and they are good, but I always go back to my Kemper handle making tool or pulling my handles.

Thank You!
Diamond Core Tools just had a buy one get one free sale. I got 6 handle tools for the price of 3. Haven’t had a chance to play with them yet.
That is great, well done.

Thanks Ellen, glad to hear you are developing your skill level.
Very cool tool! I love it!❤😊
What if you take the handles out backwards to leave that little edge of clay on the handle?
whatever works.

I found rolling a slab to the thickness of the tool opening works for me.
I let the tool slide against my wedging table
I will try that next time, I hate wedging the waste clay but now I have a Peter pugger, no problem. Thanks for the tip.
Gostei muito dos Tecks!
ONDE POSSO ADQUIRIR UM CONJUNTO DESSES TECKS.

That sounds worth investigating. I can see using a wiggle wire on it too. Thanks
@@Vsmithpots I use that method when I'm doing handles on spoons and scoops.
