Ridiculous to make it this tedious to take a battery out of a phone! My other ones..you pop them open and just lift the battery out with your fingernail..This is absurd

Thanks I'm definitely considering doing this, I love this phone as it's been a flagship experience without the flagship cost (and I'm so glad the screen is flat and not curved ugh) I don't know that the battery is quite to the point of needing replaced, but after 3 years I definitely noticed it drains much faster now. It still makes it through the day with heavy use, but I used to be able to almost 2 days until I needed to charge and now barely goes one day, so yah I guess the efficiently is down by almost half. So I will probably muster up the nerve to try this before giving in to getting an a54 or maybe checking out the a7x series to see if it's worth the bit of extra cost or not. Anyhow thanks for sharing, this allows me to me make an educated decision going forward, especially being I'm really not wanting to upgrade other than battery life at this point...

Many thanks for this video, very easy guide and swap over was relatively painless as a result (I have done a few phones previously though). Important to make sure you have all the tools to hand - small screwdriver most important, can use guitar picks/library card in place of plastic pry tool, and a hairdryer instead of heat gun.
Back cover came off relatively easily after hairdryer use and managing to get in the opening with a thin enough guitar pick.
Didn't quite appreciate how to get phone frame off but easy once I figured out what I was doing wrong. Battery had a LOT of adhesive on the back, was tricky to prise it out and it was already bulging (Yikes!). Probably worth replacing the battery every 3 years on these regardless as a proactive measure if you can (mine was 4 years old and was getting very hot/stopped charging at all).
Used clear tape rather than glue to secure everything back together, in case new battery is rubbish/defective and I have to take it all apart again soon - phone in a fully enclosed case anyway so nothing going anywhere. Powered back up and everything back up and running faultlessly! Many thanks once again!!! 🙂

I got my new battery in and getting the back off the phone was tedious to say the least. It did require some careful heating and patience. Next after taking the sim card out first and getting then the screws out of the frame I used a piece of milk carton I cut out of a milk jug to release the frame from the phone. Go back and watch the video on how he did this. I had to go back in my phone twice. Apparently I did not have one of the ribbon cables fully pushed in. I did not apply any glue/adhesives to the back of my phone case lastly. I just re heated the existing tacky stuff the factory used and the back went back on nicely. GO SLOW on this project and do this when your rested and and not in a hurry. It took me almost 3 hours but I had to do this twice. My phone is like brand new again. Good luck folks.

Hahahha! Getting a phone from another brand - same as I thought!
Man. Removing a battery in the smartphones, it seems, could be as easy as in the times of the minimalistic cellphones.
The risk and difficulty of using heaters and glues, and the lack of a native, complete backup tool... they induce us to wait too much with a swelling battery, a smartphone with a "mouth".
Now I understand how the services fix it.
An official repairing service shop was asking me factory reset and a 7 days deadline.
