    Im REALLY liking the look of this small build, nice and clean and minimalist from the outside. Obviously people will be commenting about the front panel being solid etc but as youve proven before it sometimes doesnt affect the thermals that much depending on the components used. The lack of RGB appeals to me (of course).....it could easily be mistaken for a NAS drive this one. Thanks for the in depth video Mike and Kath 🙂

      Glad you like it! it is a nice little case, doesn't take up a lot of more and doesn't toast your components, sounds like a good deal to me and £30 cheaper than the jonsbo D30 that shares a similar chassis

    This is a good chimney case. If this is for mid level rig, use back exhaust for 120 ail for CPU and use it for intake. You'll blow air over what needs it around the CPU. With how the PSU is a 3rd exhaust you'll enjoy a nice chimney effect with maximum use.
    Thin non ARGB fans below and dust filter on 120 aio. Efficiently cooled mid-grade build.
    I would enjoy a stealth/no RGB build with this. Possibly add custom length cable for better wire management. Maybe ITX short cables?

    Seems like a decent case but the price and the solid front panel make this a pass from me, also it doesn't come with any case fans which is a big drawback for me.

  • @leightaylor8069
    @leightaylor8069 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks, Mike, this is a really helpful review. I have to fit my gaming PC under the TV so a height restriction of 400mm and width restriction of 250 mm. This case would work really well because it doesn't have a PSU basement so is short (not tall) and the connectors and power switch are on the front panel not the top.
    The tempered glass both sides should help reduce noise because of their weight. It does look like a really nice case especially for the price.
    I have a mini ITX motherboard, a Ryzen 5 5700G and a Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080 Ti which is a bit wider than 2 slots and does produce a fair bit of heat. This all squeezes into the portable Lian Li TU150WA Aluminium Mini-ITX Case but it is a bit ventilation constrained when the GPU is working hard. Also since the panels are not screwed on, the cabling tends to push them off.
    I could fit two intake fans at the bottom in this case because the mini ITX motherboard only has the one PCIe slot so the graphics card would be a little higher than yours. I'd reorient the Nocua U12S to move air upwards not rearwards. All very doable.
    This would be a positive pressure system which would help with keeping dust out (remember there is still the unfiltered passive ventilation at the back). With the fans on the bottom and the tempered glass it could be a quiet system too.
    So this case certainly does look interesting, and this is a very helpful review. Thanks again.

  • @the-patient-987
    @the-patient-987 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That mini GPU is one particularly easy to cool. But you can put something bigger if you're willing to try your hand at deshrouding and adding a little tape or 3D printed thingy to direct the airflow from bottom fans straight through the GPU cooler. After seeing the temps the NR200 can get get I fell in love with vertical airflow cases. I'm definitely interested in the ATX model. I hope they have a version with a side bracket to mount fans just like the NR200. Also I wish the feet were a little bit taller.

    Love the Gamemax Spark case aesthetic 🥰🤯🤤🫠! As an itx builder for many years, I’m used to these “convection” cooling design layouts and they can be very effective at case cooling when done right!. I would love to do a build in this case …. You’re lucky Mike 💪🤤🤯🫠🥰. I wish I had an unlimited budget and unlimited space to buy a number of cases on my Wishlist like this one and actually have room to store it 😓. Great video, have subscribed as a result! UK too, bonus! :)
    I recently got this case - long mATX builder - started with the Prodigy, then the M, then a few unbranded cases until I got to this recently.
    It's very neat, however I had a PSU cabling problem with the IEC extension fitting the other way round (Corsair PSU), so have had to order a different mains cable.
    I had the same issue with the Prodigy, ten years ago!
    One can't turn the PSU around, I did think to use longer screws to drop the PSU down a bit and create that space for the right angled IEC cable to fit.
    Just a consideration before getting this case - although with a bit of modding or rewiring, easy enough to sort.
    I really like that Gamemax combined the USB C and A ports onto the one standard motherboard header, that is some good engineering! :)
    Had a previous IONZ KZ17 case that gave me the Type E connector, and that is a long story - didn't work too well...

    hey mike, i'm looking at either this case or the new gamemax m60 which seems like it just barely was released. I like the concept of this case a lot more since the m60 is just your standard mAtx case which means my card would be really close to the psu shroud and restrict airflow. the only concern for the gamemax to me is space inside, how's the cable management on this spark?

    • @musek5048
      @musek5048 ปีที่แล้ว

      actually answered my own question watching the video again lol im leaning towards the m60 now since i have the same steel legend board and use a pulse 5600xt which will definitely be closer to those bottom fan mounts so adding bottom fans could be an issue more than a benefit. plus the m60 is a bit smaller in size which is what i'm going for. great video as always!

    I installed an artic p12 pwm intake fan on the bottom of the case, and second p12 pwm exaust on the rear side - at the same level with cpu cooler. Didnt had time to test it, cause Ive done it fast, for my parents pc. But now I'm wondering, if the bottom fan will not affect gpu temps (cause half of it blows directly at gpu causing positive airflow, and half of it goes up between cpu and psu), and overal airflow (maybe it was better to install it like an exaust also on upper side of the case)???

    Looks a quality well built case hence the higher pricing and like the idea of hiding the psu! Looks as good as any expensive cases out there! My queries would regard fitting a tower cooler, as they are designed with front intake rear exhaust. Would this benefit from smaller itx mb so room for fans at bottom? Surely having panels in place and lower fans would converge airflow over mb heatsinks/cpu hence cooler temps? Interesting review and the case build look great! Thanks Mike, Kath and gamemax👍

    couldn't find GameMax spark mini at where I am (only full size ATX cases), so ended up with a slightly more expensive Jonsbo D30 instead ($60 vs $90). Wouldn't pay the extra if I had a choice, but Jonsbo seems to have thicker metal, so the price probably is justified. Also Jonsbo has a metal back lid, which I frankly like more.
    In the first approach I put 2 120 intake fans at the bottom to blow at GPU, but the temperatures were skyrocketing, so I moved the fans to the top making them to exhaust air, and added one more next to the CPU. as the result temperatures were slashed by at least 10°C, so don't repeat my mistake and put top exhaust fans first, there are no other holes, so the air is sucked from the bottom mesh anyway

    Right off the back i can tell you that taking air from the bottom and pushing it out through the top will hinder your airflow because you know there is something thats usually between the bottom and top of the case and will impede your airflow. That's right. A hugggeee gpu. The gpu will work as a wall between the top and bottom

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  ปีที่แล้ว

      doesn't seem to effect it much as you would think and also it keeps the gpu cooler and therefore can squeeze a bit more out of it, or enjoy the quieter fans, you should try one

    • @optimumpcyt
      @optimumpcyt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikesunboxing i hear you but my brain just does not accept it. A large gpu is like installing a new wall between 2 rooms and leaving only a doorway open. I just know it should affect airflow significantly. Unless a cpu stress test is done with a large gpu and then again without the large GPU but instead using an onboard gpu we will have the exact numbers
