The only thing that would suck for a casual tournament is what cards to ban because it’s almost impossible to make every thing perfect in a game that adds so many cards that go infinite with each other but that not also including the problem with what people will be playing because if your gonna win something at the end do you want to play your jank deck or do you want to win with power 8 deck
The problem with Thoracle isn't that it wins by drawing your whole deck, it's that it does it on etb and for 2 mana. Labman and Jace are fine as wincons in casual because they give you an opportunity to remove them before ending the game or require a boardstate to be protected wins. The only time that you can stop a Thoracle win is while it's on the stack and not every color has access to that as an option. The "run more removal" argument only works if the thing winning the game can be removed. Thoracle feels like a card designed entirely for people that want nothing other than to win. You can protect a Labman win in blue, you often don't have to protect a Thoracle win. The only thing that Thoracle even benefits from having on board when it's cast is something to make it uncounterable and in casual, it often doesn't even need that. I play 5+ counterspells (sometimes as high as 8) in every deck and even I find playing against someone with a Thoracle in their deck to be miserable. If there's even a chance that they have a combo in their deck, from turn 3 onwards I have to keep a counterspell/stifle in hand and mana open at all times. Thoracle doesn't even have to be cast to make the game worse for the other players.
@@thewheelsman29 that’s a very good point about thoracle! You’re right about many other cards that do have a similar thing but are easier to interact with. There would still be plenty of options for drawing your whole deck as a win con while having thassa’s oracle be banned in a commander tournament.
Also you guys should do a a video on the recent bans would be interesting to see your opinions on something sense the one ring wasn’t on there is there anything else worth banning you think?
