I remember watching a Greyhound bus do 360"s on the Interstate, winter around 1970"s

I remember the old days before they lowered the speed limit on the trains passing through Flagstaff. It was absolutely breath taking to stand outside the Flagstaff Terminal and watch as these trains would fly by within inches of you doing well over 70 miles and hour. The ground shook and the sound was deafening. It made you know you were alive.

what’s the speed limit there now?

@@brassmonkeyheheha I think it's been reduced to 40, too many serious accidents at railroad crossings

I love Flagstaff!!! My wife and I have visited many times and the town never loses it's charm. I also love Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona.

Some changes. Lower speed and no "Quiet Zone". Piggyback ramp track is gone. I love the old videos.

It’s awesome to see old power leading on the main around flagstaff. Sadly everything’s GE and EMD widecabs anymore, Nothing is standard cab, except locals and shortlines.

The only time I have ever been able to visit Flagstaff was during the summer of 2007. It's a really neat town! This video brings back a lot of great train watching memories from the trip. Thanks for sharing!

I lived in Flag for five years, early 2000. No matter where you live in the city, you will always hear the train and curse at 3pm for 15 min everyday because of the trains passing through during rush hour.

Not all hotshot intermodal trains go out east to Chicago on BNSF's former Santa Fe in Flagstaff. Some go out to Clovis and Belen, NM, some go to Fort Worth and Houston in Texas; some go out to Oklahoma City and Tulsa in Oklahoma; and some go out to New Orleans and Memphis.

I was there in October 2009 and I stood right there by the Purina plant myself. I'm from Maine and I was in Maine at Parks. Excellent video. Thank you very much.

Ahh the oldendaze, when SantaFe/BNSF used to store a helper engine on the siding and Flagstaff was NOT a "quiet zone"... Used to visit Flagstaff a lot back around 2005-2007... Can't do it anymore as my wife has COPD and she cant take the 7,000 foot elevation .

It's so amazing how times have changed no longer do we see as many of the boxcars that hobos used to climb into and ride in.... nowadays you see more container boxes being transported by the trains...
I sure do enjoy these videos thank you for posting them ... 👍👍🌟🌟🌠🌠

@Gary Daniel Good. Quiet zones are a hazard. Only whiney, ignorant pussies who aren't native to said areas complain about loud noises.
