Greetings from Finland and wellcome to Scandinavia. As a tip for birds, it is worth offering nuts and peeled sunflower seeds on cold winter days. These are so that the birds' energy is not expended in opening the shells but can use all their energy to stay warm. Grease sticks can also be found in local shops. After the nuts, the squirrels are happy to visit the bird boards in the winter. 21.12 is winter solstice when is the shortest day of the year. After that, we are on our way to the light again.

I have to say that you're living the life I'm dreaming of. I'm a little bit jealous, but I love your videos, your pictures, your squirrels and your voice, too. Please enjoy every little moment in this awesome nature of Sweden, it's so unbelievably beautiful. And please, please never stop to make this videos, that gives a really sweet joy to my life! Thank you so very much for being the young woman you are! I'm impressed 🤗

When you start to live in the cold snow, it is not only the cold and new sights but also sounds and or lack of sound. The silence in the woods, almost comforting or the creaking of the snow under your boots and the singing of the ice.

I see squirrels every day, they live just a few meters away in the trees :) They are shy but if I want to interact with squirrels I go to the cemetery where they are used to people who feed them. They are very tame and come up close this time of year. Thank you, Dani for these wonderful beautiful videos. You are so talented.

Love your videos! The music is a perfect compliment and I enjoy watching how you are filmed, living as wild life photographer. I'm an artist and all artists often get to begin their training by taking basic photography classes. I'm an old timer,.....and we began our training with actual "film" cameras,....& the most primitive models. The point was to learn how to pick the best shots, and knowing you only had 12 chances to capture the best shots, you crop and edit in the viewfinder. It is a great exercise to learn patience and how to really "see". Your videos bring a wonderful sense of calm with them. I enjoy seeing how you capture the elements,.....the snow, the wind, and all the nature. Hats off to the cinematographer who is filming you.

Just caught your vid. I too live in the wilds of Sweden, When I grew up , Ospreys were rare and protected. I was rowing across a not very big lake, near Gavle and there were 2 osprey nests in trees on small islands. The place is rotten with relatively rare ( in UK) wildlife. 3 years ago, we had a hard winter. Thee wolves came down from the mountains. quite a lot of dogs went missing overnight. There was the remains of a deer in the field next to where I have my house. Hang peanuts. you will get more woodpeckers. Nice video.

Gosh, that video does bring back memories of visiting my sister in Winter in upstate New York. With nothing better to do by day, when everyone else was working, I pointed my camera out of the back window and got not many (but some) great shots of garden birds. That was nearly 20 years, when we were all still using slide film and scanning the result into a computer. I've still got all the processing equipment. I was even using the same 1970s Leica-Novoflex lens that I saw in book by one of my favourite-of-all-time nature photographers - a Dutchman named Fred Hazelhoff.
The book was an old one, presumably published in his early days, back in 1982: "Four Seasons of Nature Photography". I thought his images had a soft subtlety, even for the days of Kodachrome, and a reality that no-one else could ever quite capture! I was ever so pleased when my pictures in the snow got anywhere near the quality of his images. I think you're getting pretty close, too - although no-one can ever be as good as the old masters!
Thanks for posting the blogs for all to see - I'm really enjoying them. It's an amazing thing to be doing. Good luck!

I live in the Pacific Northwest in WA State, Fircrest, WA specifically. For some reason I have always found that wildlife has never feared me. In fact, squirrels even on first meeting, seem to know me before we even meet. Its not uncommon that a squirrel will come up to me and take a peanut out of my hand even at first meeting. I am fascinated by them. I have an office that has steps leading up to my office entrance that I call out periodically for squirrels and presently have 4 that engage me every day. The Thread Wallet commercial was so interesting and entertaining that I watched the whole thing. :)) And your eyes are so beautiful that I always watch your videos. You are just getting started with your TH-cam productions and they are good and I'm sure they will grow in excellence as you gain experience. Photographing feeder birds is a good way to start but as the seasons change and the birds migrate you will want to change environments and pick up a greater variety. You will get tired of photographing the same birds all the time. I know I did. I still feed them and love to watch them but I widened my horizons to wetland birds, waterfowl, herons and all the migrating warblers that come through our area in the spring. Looking forward to your next production.

In the really cold weather i feed Sunflower hearts mixed with porridge oats. Put it in a saucepan and melt in a 1/3rd of a block of lard. Put it out on a plate. You won't be short of birds and they can get food without wasting energy taking the husks off the seed.
Tip for keeping warm at -20, Buy a Bigger Hat.

I think the new squirrel's name should be "Tula" which is what my half Swedish mother would call me. She said it meant "dear little one". Would be a perfect name for this little fellow. Thank you for your videos. They bring me back to my own forest of squirrels when I can't be there with them. Thank you. And I would love to see your kitchen in your cabin. I live to cook in my own cabin in the woods so I'd love to see yours.

Lovely stuff. And since the new squirrel seems to be flipping us off I might suggest the name Winston, since Winston Churchill also flipped off some reporters at the time, while not intended, as does this cheeky new squirrel.

Your videos remind me of nature programs on TV when I was a kid. Well produced amazing photography, informative and entertaining. The later years such TV productions have become either over dramatic or much too lecturing. Glad to see someone willing to produce content which leaves me feeling happy with the world instead.

Thank you! We’re actually on a tourist visa at the moment so we have to leave after three months. But we’ve applied for a residency.

It is probably more difficult now we have left the EU, but I worked here, decided to stay and no problem.. Pay taxes and contribute, it is easy. May be worth reading THE LOCAL SE, and seeing what you need. Lots of questions and answers, which may help you. Swedish news in English.
