      I think its awesome. Great range, looks good, great build quality, great engineering and the badge. Easily the most desirable EV SUV

    I test drove the Macan Electric and the BMW iX, and ended up picking the BMW. I really like the design of the Macan, but the iX is a smoother ride, has more features included as standard, way more room for rear passengers, much larger trunk, and the lease deals are significantly better than Porsche's. In the USA, you can get a fully loaded iX xdrive50 for around $800/month plus tax with 12k miles per year and $0 down, whereas a lease for a Macan with a similar MSRP would be around $1500/month.
    I'd always lease an EV. The technology is moving so quickly that a good EV today may be significantly outdated or lost a lot of its value in three years.

      I did the same. I leased an iX for my wife, bought myself an i4. But I’ll revisit the Macan in a few years.

      I am debating about ix vs macan. Agree, current deal on ix is good compared to macan. In test drive, road noises is more pronounced than ix. It may be has to do with road i drove. Any thoughts

      @@Fa-kf9ws I did a custom order of a BMW iX so I don't have it yet. It's been built, but it's still in Germany waiting for a boat to ship it to the USA. I've done a few test drives though, and it seems like a great car.

    I own a cayenne diesel and a q7 diesel and my brother replaced his v8 Touareg with a cayenne diesel so I have had a lot of seat time in 3 of what should be the same exact suvs but the first time I drove a cayenne it was completely different driving feel vs the Audi or the VW and I was sold. You can’t compare the fit and finish of the Tesla or other brands to the Porsche. Mine is still rock solid after 10 years of service. Electric is not for everyone and many people shouldn’t own one, but as I can charge in my garage, and drive less than 200 miles a day this is looking like a good fit for me. I will still keep my cayenne and convert it into an overlander to use recreationally and for the handful of trips I make per year between north Idaho to Seattle until the day I feel confident in the charging network. My brother however is a real estate photographer who covers 3 states, so the math is much harder. Maybe 7 days a month he would need more range round trip so an ev works for most of his needs but not all. He will most likely keep his cayenne diesel and its ball park 25 mpg but will keep an eye out for a CPO macan 4 ev with the remainder of the factory 4 year warranty and the 2 or 3 year unlimited mileage cpo warrenty when some descent buys show up in the dealer network. If you want a super high tech car buy a Tesla, if you want your ev to benefit from decades of chassis refinement and handling balance buy the Porsche. The fact that the Tesla’s plaids had near hyper car exceleration but were criminally under braked did not give me much enjoyment after the gimmick wore off, it’s just not how I drive. Horses for courses so chose the right tool for you daily needs and test drive everything before you spend your hard earned cash. For me, Porsche, there is no substitute (TM)

    The electric stuff is good on paper and some cities with the infrastructure to support it but overall id rather see Porsche invest in hybrid technology and keep what made Porsche great and that’s the ICE.

      I've driven both. Bmw is comfortable. Porsche is smaller and slightly more sporty. Let me know of you have specific questions

  • @bneyarb5037
    @bneyarb5037 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You didn’t touch much on suspension comfort and NVH. I know you did briefly but this is going to be the decider for me. I know I’m crazy cause Porsche is all about sporty driving, but I just like the look and the interior fit and finish.
    How would you rate suspension comfort in general and vs rivals? Does it feel luxury or stiff/sporty in ‘normal’?
    And NVH generally and vs its rivals? Is it quiet enough for the asking price?

    • @DriveSteady
      @DriveSteady  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Suspension in comfort, which Porsche calls Normal, is great. Similar to rivals. It does feel luxurious, but keep in mind it's still a Porsche, so there is definitely a sporty feel. In sport plus, it's not stiff to a point of being unbearable, but you can feel the difference between Normal.
      NVH is interesting because as I mentioned in the video there is a decent amount of battery noise (artificially pumped in) even with sport sound off. I guess that's expected in an EV car. I will say that above 30 or 40 mph it's whisper quite with sport sound off. Let me know if you have any more questions while the car is still fresh in my mind.

      @@DriveSteady appreciate the detailed response! That electric-y noise you hear at low speeds is regulatory and (I believe) relates to the car being observable to vision impaired people and like, people in parking garages and stuff. Different to actual electric motor whine. Unless this has a particularly whiney motor which I’d be shocked to hear, and would be disappointing. Unlikely given it’s low-speed specific.
      Thanks again love your work keep it up.

    No one pedal driving? Deal breaker. It’s one of the best features of my Model S. Why wouldn’t they make it an option and let the consumer decide. By the way, 0-60 in 3.1 seconds, 400 mile range and the supercharger network, all for $75,000.

    The Macan EV looks like the love child of a Tesla Y and an Audi Q5. The rear end is way too busy.

    It's more like a high-priced fashion item rather than focusing on performance and quality. The fact that Porsche can fool people using just its name, without any groundbreaking technology, as we transition into the electric car era, shows how gullible consumers can be. The **Hyundai Ioniq 5N** seems like a better choice.

    • @MadMonkMan
      @MadMonkMan หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      What groundbreaking technology are you looking for? Also, to say that Porsche does not focus on performance and quality is a bit off don't you think?
      The Macan has standard Air suspension (2 valve dampers) provides a ride comfort unmatched that can be used to dynamically raise and lower while you drive! (now that is cool). The 18 way seats are the best you can get in any car (EV or ICE), the 800 volt architecture allows you to charge in less than 18 mins, the rear axle steering provides you with a turning radius under 11 feet, and highway stability far better than any other car, and acoustic sound damping thermal glass. You can even get torque vectoring on the Turbo trim. There is simply no other car (EV or ICE) that handles like a Porsche and has these features. The car, as a whole, is exceptionally innovative and ground breaking in being able to bring the Porsche driving dynamic into the SUV EV world.
      I did look at the Ioniq 5N. Not a fan of the angular exterior design or the rectangular gauge cluster as it looks like a large touch screen stuck on the dash (like the Tesla only longer...lol) Too much plastic everywhere you look for my taste. But, more importantly, the car has none of the aforementioned features that I was looking for so not a better choice on that front.
      The only true groundbreaker for me in the EV world that is not here yet is solid state batteries that will allow charging to 400 plus miles range in under 10 mins. Such batteries would be safer for all EVs as well. You will likely see that very soon on all EVs. That alone, however, would not convince me if it left out ride comfort and performance (range, speed, charging and exceptional handling) all of which Porsche already has produced at an exceptional level in the Macan.
      Don't get me wrong, I am sure the Ioniq 5N is a good car in many respects but that is why we have many models to choose from.

    • @MadMonkMan
      @MadMonkMan หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Well...Tesla is not selling more because the Technology is better. They sell more because they are cheaper. Pretty sure if you had both cars at the same prices Porsche would be hard pressed to fill all the orders. I owned a Model 3 and Model Y and now a Macan 4 EV. The Macan is by far the better car but you do pay the price of course.
