That is my plan just not needed that much room yet..I’m only doing 2-4 shoeboxes at a time and 2-4 plates at a time.. I have studied the idea of mounting it on top of one but maybe too top heavy

Seem kinda pointless other than a weird novelty idem but i would love to see the lighter test as well as a particle gun. And it wouldnt be a flow hood even it did. It would be an FFU. Only reason to step to an FFU/Hepa Flow hood would really be to increase workflow and make things easier. This doesnt seem to achieve either if those and my still air box cost me 12.99 + 2.99 for a big can of coffee to use to punch the holes. Been using it with damn near perfeft results for 2.5 years.
I do a lot of plate work in front of it and only use 70% iso to clean with in front of it. I have plants and a outside door to this room, and I’ve not had any issues so far.
@@johncollierjr21You would have more luck with a SAB, if you are having any contamination when going to bulk you are just missing it on the agar, there are lots of white molds and some trich varieties will remain white and fluffy/stringy (similar to mycelium)

@@WhiteBeardHashtag1205Nah, this is a stupid idea, you would likely have more luck with open air inoculation of grain from a trusted spore vendor using your own SHIP (self healing injection port) in properly sterilized grain, with a piping red hot needle. Or just using a SAB, plenty of TEKs to follow.

I beg to differ. So far Ive done quite a few plates with no contam and transferred agar to grain many times already without issue. Im sure it will degrade with age of filter ect... but with the little I use it; it should last years..Plus a Hell of a lot better than a still air box.... Ohh wAIT YOU MOVED.... No more Still air in that box.....LOL
@@WhiteBeardHashtag1205Lamar flow is what you need to remain contamination resistant, if you were to have a laser particle reader in that thing it would be reading anywhere from 50-500 which is not ideal, it is better than open air, if you are quick theoretically it could work a little worse than a SAB but better than open air.
@@johncollierjr21I’ve done open pour agar plates to see what would happen before, nothing grew but I wouldn’t trust those plates for bulk… Could be your Agar, what nutrient are you using and are you possibly boiling for too long, this is a shitty Schmuv box your contam rates are 30-10% if your seeing zero something is wrong!!! Even with a laminar flow hood contam rates will not be zero

I'll DEFINITELY keep this in mind. Over building a whole HEPA circus. Hopefully it will run off solar with an inverter.

yes but since it has such a small area its easier to stay inside the outflow using the box so it doesn't entice outside air in with it.

Turbulent flow. You will be much better of using a still air box. Learn what laminar flow is and why it is important.

@@Rock-Licker not had very much only after the first flush I have seen 2 out of about 10 get trich but after the 1st or 2nd flush.

the answer is no. However, it is good filtered air, and thats really all you really need
