What exactly is Paul Shaffer trying to do here? Great performance based solely on who was present, would have been greater if they were allowed to really break loose and tear it up.

Gotta love Johnny. He had a raw edge and authenticity to his voice that was like no one else. IMHO he's the greatest Country performer ever.
