Blimey ! I was at this gig - The first time I saw Lou Martin playing with the band - Yes, it was recorded for the local Birmingham radio station - I wasn't living in Birmingham - travelled down from Manchester by train then caught a bus to Sutton Coldfield to get there . . .
George Best was hardly on the train to the gig as well lol. Glad you enjoyed it!!
@@RoryGallagherRarities- No Georgie boy - No !! But funnily enough my girlfriend & I talked to the drummer of Slade (Don Powell) on the train - that was just before he had his really bad car accident in early 1973 - told him that we were off to see Rory & he said he wanted to go too !! (didn't see him there though) . . .
I'm still hoping that a recording of Rory @ The Lyceum Ballroom on St Patrick's night (17th March)1980 will surface at some point . . . That was an amazing gig with Al Kooper joining the band on stage - backstage birthday cake party, followed by a jam session at The Venue afterwards . . . Happy daze indeed !! ; ))
Thanks for putting out all this good stuff (whatever the quality - it's all invaluable history)
@@picknick3591 Wow, those were the days in the 70s, a different time, some night for ye. Yea that paddy's day gig surely is amazing I too wish it was released. 1980 is my favourite year too, Reading 1980 absolute perfection, such energy he had in that era.
@@RoryGallagherRarities - The late '60's - early '70's were a totally different time !
In those days you could see a good band any night of the week, playing in a small venue, pretty much anywhere - My venue of choice was the old Marquee Club in Wardour Street, London - which was of course responsible for the Reading Festivals . . . I think Rory headlined (or at least played there) more than anyone else. Taste @ The Marquee was something else too . . .
@@RoryGallagherRarities This is so good to hear. I was at this gig with a couple of friends. One of them had a old VW Beatle and that was the only way we got there. I was a massive Rory fan and I still am. They agreed with me after this gig that he was something else. This was a road test for Blueprint and the line up. The album being released the following February. Shout out to Hughie & Dave if you ever come across this gem. Great night!!!
I almost couldn't believe my eyes (and ears) when I saw this . The Belfry gig had always been a fond and fading memory. Who needs a memory now we have this to replenish the gaps in the diminishing brain cells. Yes I was there but I couldn't tell you what songs were played apart from perhaps some of the regulars, and then Seventh son of a Seventh son, Bankers Blues on Mandolin ! Obviously road testing the Blueprint stuff, an early rendering of Walk on hot coals.....When they came on I remember discussing with friends , "he's got a keyboard player. . . . what's that about?" Oh boy did we find out over the next six years, and still today my favourite period and line up. Thank you, thank you, thankyou. In fact thanks a million.
You're very welcome Martin, glad it brought back some good memories.
Super Sound... Hey, It's Rory and his great band... Thanks A Million
You're welcome Bill 🙂
Thank you.
I'm the person who asked for this and it was definitely broadcast on a local Birmingham radio station at the time (live I think) but from memory it would have been on medium wave as our radio never had FM in those days.
Thanks for that info Nick, glad you enjoyed it ;-)
This takes me way back , thank you so much 💕🎶💕🎶💕
You're welcome Mary!
Wow totally cool, thank you so much !
You're welcome 👍
Wauw a gem❤
In Your Town is always some kind of adventure. Seek them out like The Grateful Dead's Dark Stars
Just like the dead he rarely played it after '74!
Ha ha same here- best version is Waterloo, Ontario 1974. Check it out if you haven't already.
Where did this beauty come from?
Sounds a bit like FM recording to me, but is shared as an audience recording.
Hello...do you have the concert from rory 1978 in Zwolle...Netherlands?
Sorry, no I don't think I've any Dutch concerts from that year will check though
Is this the concert used for the Wolverhampton bootleg album?
Which album is that, do you have a link or name?
I have seen it somewhere I will have to search around my backup HD and get back to you. I think I downloaded some of it from limewire back in the day.
Ok I'm sorry it taken such a long time but I've found the mp3s i have and they are:
I wonder who
Moonchild
I ain't no Saint
Don't start me talking
Shin kicker
They are all live and good quality recordings and have an album art picture attached which has a photo of Rory and is titled
Rory Gallagher: live at Civic Hall
Wolverhampton England 11.19.88
I checked the gig database and that concert is on it.
I am happy to send them to you if you don't already have them, but how can I do this?
