    I was about to buy a sheet mask the other day, and my boyfriend was with me who knows absolutely nothing about skincare and he asked me what does it do for your skin..I told him it "hydrates" the face...and he simply with a blank face asked me...why don't you just drink water then. And I could not respond to that what so ever 😂

    • @rifatyaseen8207
      @rifatyaseen8207 4 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      water doesn't hydrate the skin dear, it doesn't even reach your face :)

    • @dataexpunged6969
      @dataexpunged6969 4 ปีที่แล้ว +215

      @@rifatyaseen8207 umm... It does? It DOES hydrate the face and also, it DOES reach the face :/ And what even do you think sweat is made of????

    • @dr.alkaverma9455
      @dr.alkaverma9455 4 ปีที่แล้ว +61

      Yup, drinking lots of water helps.... I used to use sheet masks, but stopped using it one day out of lazyness. Glad to know that it's useless 😊✌️

    • @rifatyaseen8207
      @rifatyaseen8207 4 ปีที่แล้ว +73

      @@dataexpunged6969 it doesn't. When u drink water it reached the internal organs and when those organs work fine it shows up on ur face too. So if you take very less water then it shows up on the face. However if you're taking enough (2-3litres per day) it doesn't necessarily mean your skin will be moisturised too. And even if you increase it to 5 litre then also there wouldn't be anh difference on your face. Dryness on skin depends on stratum corner, the outer layer of the skin which is responsible for locking hydration. So if that layer is screwed then no amount of water intake will help. This is where sheetmasks help, they provide hydration and form an occlusive layer so there's no trans epidermal water loss and your skin is hydrated. However, these sheetmasks are wasteful so your best bet is hyaluronic acid serum on a damp face followed by a thick moisturiser that can form an occlusive layer, basically lock the hydration.

Eyecream... same reason as you said 3. Highlight...I use champagne eyeshadow instead 4. Thanks for crediting Whitney Hedrick. That woman has saved my wallet and I've been wanting to see Indian TH-camrs talk bout it. Thanks to you and Shweta Vijay for talking bout this!!
    People, you need to watch these three women's content, they are bomb and informative!!
    That being said, I agree with everything that you've said and would like to add liquid highlighters? Ugh. Don't need that. Can I also add those glitter filled peel off masks? Not going to name the brand but I feel like they're gimmicky and those chunky af glitters only clog our drains and cause harm to marine life!
    You can also mix an active+ your regular moisturiser to make a custom eye cream!
    Also, lip products can be used on the cheek but for my oily acne prone skin beauties, be a lil careful as it **might** cause acne. An ingredient check on cosdna will be helpful! Thanks! Much love ❤️

The color bar under eye serum is AMAZINGGGG and really brightens the under eye area along with lightening the dark circles. I need my blusher blended in a very specific way and for that I NEED a powder one as a lipstick won't do it. Each to their own, I guess.

    Dr dray mentioned in one of her videos that eye creams and neck creams even are actually a gimmick and a hyped up marketing product. Your normal moisturiser will do the same job as that product.
    Also we need to stop buying:
    1. Blackhead removing strips and peel off masks because they do more harm than good to the skin and don’t really pull out the back head. What you actually see is sebum which will form within 2- 3 hours again.
    2. Regular Hyaluronic acid serums because they don’t really hydrate the skin as much as it’s shown by the brands. Just use a good moisturiser like Etude House Soon Jung or Avene Hydra cleanance.
    3. We need to stop buying a lipstick in every color possible. Instead mix your lipsticks and make the shade you desire and SAVE MONEY because cmon, it’s going to expire before you can completely use it.
    Can’t think of more at the moment.
    And also it’s called milia. Pretty sure others have already mentioned it in the comments below.

I have never used shampoos like I use now when I was in school but my hair was so good.. no oiliness and perfect straight.. also the shampoo bottles are too much in my home right now.. thinking about good diy hair cleansers..

      You do need a good hair cleanser made by a reputed brand. I’m currently loving wella’s volume boost for the oily scalp days and coco soul’s hair cleanser for a mild moisturising wash. DIYs are not a great idea for a hair cleanser because PH of a product matters and you won’t be able to test and perfect it at home unless you are a pharmacist/ chemistry student. Just use a mild cleansing shampoo. Also everyone’s hair texture changes over the years due to aging hormones etc. this is normal. Don’t worry. You may want to reduce heating products/ hair coloring etc and use a good conditioner with amodemithicone after shampoo. You may also want to read about hair porosity and choose your conditioner accordingly.

    • @addaptinginthedark
      @addaptinginthedark 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I only shampoo once or twice a month. I have to disagree with the other commenter and say that DIY stuff can be incredible. I do most of my hair washing with powdered herbs, and it works beautifully. That won't be the case with everyone's skin or hair, of course, so your milage may very. But there's no harm in experimenting. Also, unless you're using a shampoo with sulfates in it, which is generally really drying, you should not be using a conditioner with amidimethicone... that will build up over time and cause you problems.

    I tried cleansing balms and cleansing oils but they were awful for my skin and made me break out and compromised my skin barrier alot. The Garnier miceller water is a very good one for sensitive skin because it's free of alot of bad things like PEGs and harsh surfactants and fragrance, it uses poloxamer which is a mild surfactant, what I do is to mix a fragrance free hydrating toner (which has some slight viscosity to it, this gives it slip and moisture on my face) and a small amount of the Garnier micellar and this is how I remove my makeup it has helped alot. A first cleanse is only suppose to remove the topical layer of makeup the second cleanse is to remove anything more, so u can't expect much more from a micellar water. I then go on with a slightly acidic cleanser as a second step and then follow with a moisturiser. Oil cleansing doesn't work for everyone and often do have strong emulsifiers in them to make the oil wash off the skin cleanly. Just be mindful

I think the Huda Beauty highlighter palette is absolutely amazing and I got it in my Ipsy bag. I seriously carry that around because I have different shades in it and it’s pretty compact.

    some issues:
    1) sheet masks are different than serums, the stuff inside isn’t an actual serum, or else that’d be bad for your skin, serums are supposed to be used in small amounts. serums are highly concentrated and to much is bad. so no one go buy a serum and use it as a mask please lol.
    2) some lipsticks can be used as some blush, but they won’t perform or last as well. and metallic and liquid lipstick that dry matte are definitely not good idea at all, they won’t blend or look good in general. some regular bullet lipsticks are also too waxy and don’t blend.
    3) eye creams are actually important, not all are the same. regular moisturizers and lotions aren’t ideal for the under eye. that area of skin is VERY sensitive. some are crappy some are great. i genetically have under eye bags and i have dry under eyes. i use the tatcha eye cream, and it was great for me.
    4) primers are essentials for some people. for normal skin/ clear skin people typically don’t need it. but for someone like myself, i have dry and acne prone skin, i absolutely need it and the foundation/ concealer/ powder won’t look good will look incredibly dry and it clogs my popes then.
    5) you can you concealer as an eye primer. never use both. but eyeprimers are better, they help the shadow blend and perform better, and unlike concealer it prevents your eyelids from being stained. you should at least use something though if you want nice eyeshadow.
    6) micellar water isn’t a cleaner. it’s a toner or a way to remove makeup. in a skin care routine there should be:
    makeup removal
    cleanser
    (abt 2 times a week at most) exfoliating
    toner
    serum
    eye cream
    moisturizer

    The Garnier under eye roll on made a difference to my skin over a period of time....lil lightening and tightening of skin... though it reverts back to whatever it was before once I stop....but yes otherwise it works for me( to be honest even I was very sceptical about using it ,but yes now I really see some difference)

    You can even use an eyeshadow as a powder blush as they are essentially the same thing as you can even use powder blush as eyeshadow and one thing people need to stop stocking up on is highlighter as you only need 1 that matches or close matches your skin tone

    So glad I found you as a scientist in beauty I teach a lot of this on my channel especially about women using I creams and thinking that it’s the next best thing to change wrinkles etc. on the face the moment you stop using it your skin goes right back to what it was. Eye creams are cosmetics they’re not drugs anything that alters an individual physically must be approved by the FDA as a drug which cosmetics are not. Really great video

    I agree with entire list except for the primer... It can be skipped by those who have flawless skin, but usually primer if applied before foundation helps with open pore proB and longer makeup stay.. Concealer can be replaced with two shade lighter foundation but again these products are not required of someone have flawless skin.
