Yeah, but Cory has to come with it! I actually stopped this and went to get my headphones when I found it. Couldn’t believe what the low end added to the song - and was BLOWN away to realize that was Cory’s foot pedal work. That he can realize all that top end right hand filigree AND keep the bass time so locked is a crazy level of musicianship! 3 of the worlds finest musicians at work here. And it’s a freakin’ privilege to be able to hear them play!
This sent me on a deep dive rabbit hole spiral about a horse from 1752. Leadbelly and Guthrie sang this together, about the horse that never lost. Peter Paul and Mary’s adaptation is about wishing they bet on this particular horse. Damn, would’ve been a good bet - so I’ll give em that. Plastic Ono Band took their adaptation and formed the melody in question into Happy Xmas(War is Over) possibly one of the greatest Christmas time songs ever, we all know it dearly… but did we know it came from a horse? Incredible feats this horse Skewbald ran through to get John fucking Lennon to change it up for Christmas. Rabbit hole turned into a Horse hole for me. Seriously thanks for this upload. These guys absolutely KILLED this song. What a phenomenal performance from Cory and Thile, with Strings voice it’s so complete. This is amazing.
Musical worlds collide. Been following Chris Thile's career for a long time and came across Cory Henry with Snarky Puppy. I guess this is Chris's first rodeo with a jazz keyboardist though. The album with Brad Mehldau is excellent.
Cory Henry popped off his show to play the bass pedals, Chris and Billy followed suit. This was late in the show, and the boys were having a goofy fun time
Every bluegrass trio needs a Hammond organ!
You gonna carry it? ;)

my thoughts 'zacly!
No.
Billy and Chris both removed one shoe in support of Cory - removing his shoe to play the pedals on the Hammond B-3. Amazing show!! All legends!
Kinda surprised the stage didn't break under the weight of that talent.
Likely three most talented musicians of the century thus far. Off the charts....
Whenever I frett the future of MUSIC some talents come along and reinvigorate my hope the future will be just fine.
#1 son and I flew from CA to NY to experience this first hand. Worth every mile.
You've got to bring the #2 son next time too
Not supposed to rank them but we all have our favorite
Pause
I’m super jealous! Probably not as jealous as your lesser ranked sons tho. Hope it was fun!
ya done good
Cory holding down the bass with his feet while tearing it up with his hands. 🔥
Billy’s come a long way from a quiet room at a loud party… to Lincoln Center
We need a album for these guys!!!!
This is next level musicianship across the board

That's an insane amount of musical talent in a trio right there.

Funny that you used the word rodeo. Know what I am referring to?
The most awesome sound I've ever heard labeled bluegrass!
Words are inadequate. The future is here. And the present is better because of it. Wow.
Jaw dropped rn… what the fuck! This is insane actually hahahah.. wow. Thanks for this upload. So glad I clicked on this. Incredible music here.
tears in my eyes by the end....GLORY!
Cory Henry is a beast.
Thank you TH-cam for offering this to me!!!
Hot damn, this was awesome. Congrats to all involved attending
Yes, these are in fact the best.
Oh my, yes. Please continue!
Jesus Christ ! That was awesome.
3 geniuses having a blast it looks like, how much fun for the audience. I'm super jealous! (Not really, just want my turn to see this brilliance).
Based on ticket prices I saw I’m enjoying the recording.
Wow. Just wow. This should have 1M views.
So great!!❤❤❤
Amazing!!
Fusion album please. Blugrass/soul/jazz I’m in for it.
Excellent...
I knew this would be mind blowed
perfect.
Bless, bless TH-cam!!!
Woah
Would love to hear y'all doing Wings of a dove! Loved I'll fly away. Stellar ❤
You gotta love the BLUEgrass Hammond B-3 and especially Cory's bass turnarounds at 3:52 and 4:24 rollin through an awesome grove
A good name for this trio....bet on Stewball and you might win...
Bucketlist
Wish I had been there!
A B3 with Leslie. very cool.
Never seen a b3 without a Leslie....
I feel like I just bet on Stewball and won.
Wow
dang
Does Billy only have one shoe on? Fabulous gentlemen!
Love this. Listen to Stewball by Mason Proffit. Connected or no????? Hmmmmmm?????
Is this written by Willie Watson? This particular arrangement. I know there's a lot songs about this specific horse lol
Was Billy about to change a string there at the end?
Moving his capo
100 o/oo alive!
Why didn’t Cory Henry join the boys on TV on the weekend?
Billy one shoe???
Brought half his shine box
Maybe poor old Billy can eventually buy himself the other boot.
Lol.. I noticed that. Graham Nash brings his own rug when he's on the road, because he only performs barefoot 😉
Thile is doing the same thing!
Cory took one of his shoes off to play the bass on the organ, so Billy & Chris took one of their shoes off, too.
Why is li'l buddy ½ shoeless?
Keeping the dead alive in the 21st
is billy playing with one shoe? ha

Billy lost a shoe.
