Thank you for featuring Ms Lea Salonga. She is an icon in Philippine entertainment industry and is an inspiration to many Filipino artists today. Kindly check out other more of her performances. She is an amazing and incredible performer..❤🇵🇭
I love that you appreciated her talent, understood the song and emotions in it, and that the beauty of her performance truly affected you from the heart. Your reaction was complete with details as to why you liked/loved it. Thank you for your sincere reaction!❤
Lea Salonga is Mulan as well as Jasmine from Aladdin. As I'm sure others have mentioned, this is from the 10th anniversary concert of Les Misérables. It's not the full-on musical, although played out from start to finish with all of the performers totally in character and in costume. Lea Salonga has played the role of Fauntine before, but I really didn't like it as much as her Éponine. She is the best at this part. Ruthie Henshall, who plays Fauntine in this version, is absolutely the best for her part, as well, and is one of my favorite voices of all time. What she is able to do with her voice is amazing. Also, Judy Kuhn, who plays the grown Cosette in this show, is the singing voice of Pocahontas. th-cam.com/video/wcTZN5QslH8/w-d-xo.html Here is an AI upscaled version of the full show: th-cam.com/video/_bGIaYDLftU/w-d-xo.html
That was a Masterclass delivered by legendary Lea. I am so happy that you appreciated and understood the performance so well. Even Lea would have been impressed by your reaction.
Lea Salonga (pronounced LAY-ah Sah-LONG-gah) is a performer from the Philippines. She was 24 in this video and it 52 years old now. Lea has been performing since age 7 doing theater, albums, concerts, film and TV. This performance is part of the 10th anniversary concert of LES MISERABLES (1995) - and it's called the "Dream Cast" because they selected performers from productions of LES MIZ around the world to be in the concert. Most of the major roles were played by performers who originated the roles in their respective countries (the UK, USA, Australia), but Lea was a replacement in the Broadway production - and the first Asian/non-white actress to play that part. Most people consider Lea's performance of this song to be the definitive version. (29 million views and counting!) I've watched this video hundreds of times. It never gets old! I hope you will check out more of Lea!
Maybe the most perfect vocal performance I have ever heard. She was dressed as the character she played in Les Mis, and she stays in character during the entire song. Lea is just flawless. The only ones I would consider equal are Bridge Over Troubled by Sohyang, Over the Rainbow by Jona, O Holy Night by David Phelps, and Bring Him Home by Alfie Bowe (also from Les Mis, but from the 25th Anniversary show).
I love this one. If you really want to cry, later in the play she saves the man she loves by jumping in front of a bullet meant for him. He holds her and they sing "A Little Fall Of Rain" th-cam.com/video/IyPy2Iqq-NM/w-d-xo.html
That Les Miserables production was named The dream cast because it really is and Lea is still the best Eponine and she still sings that song till now in concerts with power. She is currently on Broadway's Here Lies Love as an actor and producer, will do a westend Sondheim show soon and still a part of HBO Max Pretty Little liars also a 2x Disney Princess (Jasmine and Mulan)
Hello Sarah, this was gorgeous indeed. Thanks for sharing. Do you know the musical “notre dame de Paris”? The first recorded Esmeralda to promote the musical to come was a singer named Noah. Try listening to her if you can some day.😊 It ll be in French but it s not her native language, yet I m sure you ll find the lyrics somewhere translated to help you understand her.

That entire concert is legendary.
This is just one of a number of incredible songs from Les Miserables...... Arguably the finest Musical ever written.
lea salonga may be the greatest female singer ever. this performance makes me cry every time i cant control it
10th anniversary concert, even better than the live concert I saw. Éponine is my favorite character, so tragic.
An amazing performance by Lea Salonga! Love your reaction! Thank you!
Let's not forget Miss Saigon - she had the lead in that in London and was only 18 years old!
