    I hear the thing about non-venomous snakes compared to water moccasins is that water moccasins are more shy from humans than the non-venomous snakes so typically when you're in a pond the non-venomous snakes go towards you and the venomous snakes they try to get away from you

    I bought a Marlin 357 because of exactly the things you're saying here. It's extremely versatile and just about anyone can use it. It's a perfect teaching tool for new shooters and I've never known anyone who didn't have fun running a lever gun. Like driving a manual transmission, you feel directly connected to the machine in a way automatics just can't replicate.

      Nice, I've been torn on a grip on the front. I like using the HopticUSA quiver as a pinky rest and it seems to work fine so far. Thanks for watching!

    I love how compact this gun is even at 16" but still performs at the rounds maximum barrel velocity. .357 in 16" is perfect IMO. You can get more rounds with longer barrels but the power and velocity is too deminishing.

    Great build of a real fun gun! Glad to see a legacy being being created right before our eyes! Your son is being invited to participate in an epic story which is being written by you and his his grandfather - he has no idea how fortunate and rare this is nowadays. Good job men!
    Ps Highly recommend you two read some of the writings by an author named John Eldredge - his works on the masculine journey are unparalleled.

    Very cool guys! Im warming up to the red dot idea. Have a Jm Gs 45-70 guide gun. Came with scope rail and lock tight on there without a scope. So I have been running just the buckhorn and bead. IT's at 7 pounds and I have been resisting optics to keep the weight down for handling.
    If I went to the red dot think I could keep a decent check weld on it . Use is primarily deer hunting -dawn and dusk in Ohio woods. Or would I be better off with a low power illuminated scope?
    Thanks

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!! It's tough to say. I love the quick & handy nature of the red dot, but for hunting I use a low power scope to assure the most precision possible in low light.

    This build series is what motivated me to pick up an 1894cst. I've done everything you've done but the mid west industry rail. Im still on the fence about that. Probably gonna go with a holosun red dot too.
    If you ever get a suppressor for it, I Highly recommend the dead air wolfman. It's hollywood quiet in both long and short configuration.

    • @buildhuntxplore

      Awesome! Thanks for letting me know, really appreciate it. I like the rail because I can add things like the HopticUSA quiver and/or a light easily. I'll definitely check into those suppressors, thanks!

      Best wishes.

    Hello great Marlin rifle and vid! I have a quick question I might be buying this one soon in .357 Ideal for a Black Tail Deer gun and for Hogs and out to what yardage? Also best hunting ammo for it? Thanks!!

      @buildhuntxplore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Howdy! Thanks! I’m not sure on ideal yardage for them as I haven’t hunted with it myself, yet. I really like the 158gr hollow-points from Underwood Ammo.

      @@thirdeyespirit7530 hey was curious, have you used your rifle yet for hog/deer hunting and if so how did it perform? I have a Marlin csbl in 357, I'm using the federal power shok and Underwood hard cast both in 180gr, both hit close to POA but have taken a deer yet with either, even though I have been hunting a few times with it and have had a couple opportunities to take a deer.

    • @thirdeyespirit7530
      @thirdeyespirit7530 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@richardguajardo2393 hello, glad you got a Marlin now they are under Remington. Not on Hogs, for Black Tail it's great even w/ lighter hunting loads. The ones you have and that weight should do it even on White Tail. Hogs w/ a good shot placement. I got myself a Marlin 3030 for em tho, will try w/ a legit .357 hunting load on em too I hope.

    • @richardguajardo2393

      @@thirdeyespirit7530 hey thanks for the quick response. I'm very happy with my Marlin in 357, I even have a Marlin 336 30-30 in stainless steel. Which are both made by Remington, I shot my biggest buck this past season with the 30-30, That shot was taken at a little over 85yrds. I was trying to use the 357 at my buddies place where the shots don't exceed about 45yrds or so but haven't taken a deer with it yet, can't wait till next year when I can hopefully be able to take one with it and see how the 180gr ammo perform.
