Space Engine is without a doubt one of the more important software projects being pursued right now. It allows for anyone to explore and understand the vastness of our universe and gain perspective and humility. And with hope, some of them will become scientists. If you have kids, make sure they interact with this program at least once. Preferably often. It's a powerful educational tool that harbors a yearning for exploration and observation.
+Matt Laskowski (fox-orian) Not only that; It sets a precedence for procedural generation in space games as well. So it's great from both an educational and entertainment standpoint.
ALLenROOK I only found this by accident, this deserves everyones support. I never seen anything that comes close to this, spread the word everyone more people need to see this.
This engine is absolute genius. I've been diving in and out of this simulation for a few years now and I can't wait until the new version. And this could most definitely be adapted to a space based MMO. It needs to happen.. I envision the being able to choose a race (from maybe hundreds) that all originate from habitable planets in different corners of a galaxy. Each race will work to colonize their corner of the galaxy by mining resources from planets, moons, comets, and asteroids, and advancing in technology along the way. They would have to build their ships using modules. Think of it as a real time "Master's of Orion" simulation in a 3d MMO...
Feint Nope. There is no seamless transition from space to planet. Nor can you exit your ship and walk around.. Download this free engine and you will understand..
Livinghighandwise I already have a video of SpaceEngine posted on my channel. LOL And those features you mentioned are planned for Elite: Dangerous though not available yet.
Feint Agreed. The looked into it more and ended up preordering ED yesterday. I'm hoping they can deliver on what they have promised because it does sound fantastic!
Peter Clarke I was finding alternatives to KSP and found this. I've also discovered Orbiter, but it is only for Windows. Will try it as soon as I bring my PC to where I'm living now. KSP isn't realistic, just cool sandbox for kids.
This doesn't even need to be a game to be awesome: It's basically a huge visual encyclopedia of the cosmos. This can be a very enjoyable way to teach kids about the solar system while offering a suggestive sight of the planets, and the satellites. It's almost too good to be true, something that wasn't even possible to accomplish 10 years ago with such fine detail. Keep up the awesome job, I donated and I hope a lot of other people will keep supporting the project. New planets and stars are discovered every day, this needs to be up do date!
For those who likes space and still doesn't have it - donload it with no questions. This sim is fantastic. If not to count a huge number of real objects there are BILLIONS of procedural galaxies and TRILLIONS of procedural stars and almost each star has planets around. The entire space of the sim is FUCKING HUGE and looks beautiful! I had no words when launched it.
The amazing level of either how hard or rather how complicated programming it must have been, this engine is just revolutionary, innovative and awesome. good job Dev :)
After this virus blows over I'm buying you dinner. I'm in Australia but feck it, if you're down I'm down. I'll fly out. This Heinali tune is such an amazing choice!
This is pure, unrefined, concentrated genius. For those of us not working in a space program, what better way to really appreciate the intricate beauty and mysteries of space than through this exceptionally made simulation. Btw, if you like Mass Effect watch this with "Vigil" the extended version playing in the background and you won't be disappointed ;) The engine itself controls well, looks visually stunning and really evokes an almost childlike sense of awe and wonder. I only wish i had this at the age of ten. The music playing in the background is fitting and really accentuates the feeling. This, i feel, deserves money and the second i have some to spare i will gladly contribute.
Woah, what a coincidence, I was just using SE for the first time in a very long time after finding the Nvidia fix. 0.972 looks seriously amazing, can't wait!
+Kwstakhs Mane 9.8.0 is bigger. They added more stars then mo mans sky recently. Hey added planemos and carbon stars. They redesigned the gas giants and they look cooler now. They added the accretion disks on black holes and they made then make light. This update was also big
This is not Interesting 0.9.8.1 is big also. They've added beautiful nebulas, different categorized planets, live supernovas that expand as time passes, tiny ghostly rings on procedural planets like Saturn which makes it even more beautiful, they made the galaxies more beautiful, they added more information on the tab, and a slide for some of the information like the semi-major axis. Overall 0.9.8.1 makes the game way more beautiful! And more understandable.
I know it's sort of annoying to say things like "Vinesauce brought me here" but I'm really glad I came across this. This game really puts me in awe and I can't be more pleased to see it get more recognition. I actually want to know a lot more about space now. I'm just left speechless.
This is one of the best space simulation engines available. The creator even made it 100% free, there's no demo. The entire engine cost you nothing, but you are very welcome to donate to him so he can continue to put out new versions. This is what everyone should have if you have that itch to explore the universe but know in your lifetime we will never make it out of our own solar system. (I'm talking about manned missions not probes) This engine is a 10x10Gpc cube (that was the size of 9.7.1, if it changed please correct me). It's filled with galaxies. Each containing black holes, stars, planets, moons, comets, asteroids, nebula, clusters and even generates planets with life. (Not life as in trees and beings, that would be to much). It renders as you go, so when you fly into a galaxy it will generate the stars and systems as you go. You can fly up to any star, most will have planets. You can land on any planet, each has its own mountains, valleys, rivers, desserts, and now volcanoes. There are several types of worlds, gas giants, Terra's, even moons with life. He did his best to include most cataloged stars and stellar objects. You can find the horse head nebula, crab nebula, Orion nebula, and more. Most known galaxies and stars are here. The real beauty is whats not cataloged. The procedural galaxies and planets. You could spend your life exploring this simulator and never run out of new things to find. There's always another galaxy, star, planet, moon, nebula, black hole, and much more. Its just amazing. There's also a lot of mods people have made, star ships you can pilot, and so on. You can create your own galaxy (if you know how do mod). There are limitations but with each release he adds more and more. What started as something amazing only grew to be so much more.
This is amazing, I can't wait to see this in true vr. I want to see space more than anything, to be able to fly over amazing vistas and bolt off at light speed to the next. I see now I'm really close to living that dream, please work as hard as you can for me and the others that are going to live out their greatest fantasy through this game and games like it. Thank you so much you have a beautiful mind to have come up with something like this, I can't wait to see where this goes thank you thank you thank you.
"What star you want to go to?" "How" -Zooms all the way to reveal a tiny speck was actually a freaking huge solar system with huge planets you can explore on- Gg. Few of my brain cells were destroyed in the process, I'm speechless.
This is super-super cool. I'm playing KSP, but it has lack of realism. As a child I was writing program, which find programs for transfering between orbits of planets using simple differential equations that solves 3-body problem (finding algorithm was genetical programming). But if I can simulate space like this... That would be very cool. Really unmanned vehicles in real space (in simulator of course). Sounds like a dream (for a nerd like me). I'll be waiting for the SDK.
Its humbling, that you could sit in front of your PC every day for the rest of your life and you will never see all of it. Amazing there is a piece of software capable of this. Imagine in 25 years........
SpaceEngineer did show a WIP of accretion disks around black holes in the dev thread on the forum. White dwarfs also sometimes have disks of matter that comes from the WD accreting matter off of a binary companion. I was already aware of gravitational lensing around black holes, white dwarfs, and neutron stars.
Guys what if the Universe we're living in right now is just like this program, but really advanced requiring the most powerful quantum super computer ever. The Simulation Theory...
I would be really interested in something similar to this at the scale of a single terrestrial planet. For a long time, I've wanted to be able to define basic tectonic plate shapes and some basic parameters (mass, composition, atmospheric ratios, axis, angular momentum, AU, star class, etc.), and have something model the formation of planetary features on geologic time scales. From there, you can simulate ocean currents, jet streams and, ultimately weather and climate (which is the "real goal" to my mind).
Solaris, can I please use your trailers to talk about space Engine on a video/ podcast show of mine? I would of course link you in the description and with an annotation onscreen. Thanks in advanced

***** This program should be showed in schools for educational purposes.
Illumenatye ㅤ Damn I'm so agree!
+Illumenatye ㅤ My school just recently shown it off, encouraging us all to go download it.
TheOnlyOwensey that's very cool!
+Matt Laskowski (fox-orian) Not only that; It sets a precedence for procedural generation in space games as well. So it's great from both an educational and entertainment standpoint.
This actually exists? This is a masterpiece of modern software, and not a soul knows about it?!
Pretty much, been in the works for nine years with only $21,000 donated.
And is being developed by ONE person.
A shame isn't it. A whole universe of pure beauty and wonder lost in the vastness of the virtual world only to be seen by those who seek it.
ALLenROOK I only found this by accident, this deserves everyones support. I never seen anything that comes close to this, spread the word everyone more people need to see this.
si... .yo lo tengo en mi pc

The game you describe is called Elite: Dangerous. :)
Feint Nope. There is no seamless transition from space to planet. Nor can you exit your ship and walk around.. Download this free engine and you will understand..

No Man's Sky will (maybe, let's hope) be what you're looking for
No kidding, i never heard of this until 5 minutes ago.
Now i'm sure not HOW i never heard of this.
Amazing ?!

this game should get on kickstarter to get more attention and money
Nah. That's the idea. SpaceEngineer is probably scared to be forced to making all those mind blowing features, which he listed.
the game already has them...

It'd be a fantastic learning tool, I totally agree.
UNDER RATED!!!!!
Needs way more downloads than this
+GhostOfWar y?
I like it this way

Thanks space engine! :')

Can't stop watching it over and over again.
As soon as I heard about this program I knew it was something I've always wanted. It's amazing.
alcubierre drive's gravitational lensing was a nice touch :D
This is just pure, liquid genius!
Cannot wait for this version to come out. 0971 is brilliant, but 0972 looks awesome. Love the new star lens flares.
One of the best and most beautiful things that I ever put on my hdd, poetry
Amazing work to you all, I truly hope more funding comes your way because something like this cannot be passed off.

An absolute videoludic masterpiece.
Infinite thanks for giving us dreams.
Amazing work as always, Solaris :)
I need this.
So beautiful!
This is absolutly stunning. I can't wait for the new version to be released, this looks so fantastic! Good job, good job!
Woah, what a coincidence, I was just using SE for the first time in a very long time after finding the Nvidia fix.
0.972 looks seriously amazing, can't wait!
The entire Nvidia issue is fixed in the latest drivers, so you should update the drivers instead and revert back to the original executables.
HarbingerDawn Thanks for the heads up man.
Epic! I've just had goose bumps all over. And this is done by one man army!
SpaceEngine 0.9.7.2 released today!!
This version more then any other was a huge leap of improvement in my opinion.
9.7.1 was fun, but 9.7.2 is that much better
+Kwstakhs Mane 9.8.0 is bigger. They added more stars then mo mans sky recently. Hey added planemos and carbon stars. They redesigned the gas giants and they look cooler now. They added the accretion disks on black holes and they made then make light. This update was also big

The music is INCREDIBLE!!! Space Engine as well, of course =)
This is Art. Im already njoying this masterpiece
so damn beautiful
Love the music with the pictures. That's awesome! :)

Excellent music! Reminds me of Liquid Mind by Chuck Wild!!
This makes me feel so blessed to be alive in the 21st century..
Simply mind blowingly good. I hope Elite Dangerous will get up to this level eventually.
This...
I...
Brings tears to my eyes
Awsome! Simply awsome! Nothing more to say!
this trailer is god tier

Finally space engine 0.9.7.2 is out!, i even more exploring than 0.9.7.1
Beautiful video. I hope you will make more of these.
i hope this will hit next gen consoles, i'm afraid my pc won't stand this beauty...
amazing work! very impressive!
makes me yearn for planetary exploration in Elite Dangerous
I just downloaded this wow! Beautiful.
"What star you want to go to?"
"How"
-Zooms all the way to reveal a tiny speck was actually a freaking huge solar system with huge planets you can explore on-
Gg. Few of my brain cells were destroyed in the process, I'm speechless.
Just downloaded it, its the best one yet. If you dont have a PC capable of running this, its worth it to get one.
Half the reason I purchased a high-end gaming computer was just to be able to run this simulation. In hindsight, that was a great decision.
can't wait!
Definitely looks awesome!
Oh my "god"... This looks amazing!
You guys NEED to team up with Frontier devs, make Elite look like this. Omg
Infinite Space It's Full Of Stars...That's Simply What We're All Made Of !...
amazing program
thank you for making it (:
This is super-super cool. I'm playing KSP, but it has lack of realism. Fantastic! Fabulous!
Perfect soundtrack to play with this engine is interstellar
this is wonderful ......
A much better version of No Mans Sky for free.
True That
At least it isn't going back to the desktop after the load menu haha
+Emerson Collier But is No Mans Sky made by a single dev?
***** It's currently in beta. And yet it already stomps no mans sky.
+Emerson Collier
Virtually nothing is 100% bug free, to expect such a standard from any program is simply unrealistic.
Its humbling, that you could sit in front of your PC every day for the rest of your life and you will never see all of it. Amazing there is a piece of software capable of this. Imagine in 25 years........
Really good like always ,THX .
are those volumetric clouds I see? Also, I like the warp drive spaceship at the end
Bring on the future!
Amazing... Incredibile... This is definitely the best space sim ever made.
Anyway, wasn't accretion disks implemented too?
Not yet.
I believe there are disks around black holes, not around WD companions however.
This isn't a "disk" this is gravitational lensing. And WD are incredibly dense and heavy (thus distording light path)

Mind...Blown
Beautiful
Guys what if the Universe we're living in right now is just like this program, but really advanced requiring the most powerful quantum super computer ever. The Simulation Theory...
Can't wait for this game to come out for mac
I think adding the Interstellar soundtrack is a must.
DaDoubleDee Imagine going at decent speed from earth and outwards into unknown space with the Wormhole soundtrack playing. Chills.
Amazing... :O Can't wait to try it on Oculus Rift CV1 with a Joystick!
That was amazing :)
ЭТА ШЕДЕВР!!!!
The song title is in the notes: 'Heinali - The Sun Will Rise Yet We Won't Be Here'. Stunning!
WOW! This looks cool.
So relaxing the music... aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ah so cool, so cool, that's so cool! ;)

the hype is strong in me
nice !
TEARS OF JOY :_ D
Awesome!
I'm *hic* crying again...*hic*
*deep breathing*
*hand fanning*
I see this and I see beauty.... I look down at my laptop held together with duck tape and say "WHY!!!!!".
If it had HTC VR headset and interactive hand controler support ..Then i would buy it .
Epic Trailer Will try it out for sure
you should totally work with the kerbal space program team
okay maaaaybe the crazy theory that we exist within a simulated universe isn't so crazy
Pretty cool stuff..
it would be cool whent they put life on planets that you can see
That there life is
Like: City,creatures,.....
It will be implemented in the Future Versions!
Da Heavy well it works for me no laggs
Very nice video and game, if you want to sleep.
Superbe!!!!!!!!
Excellent
Solaris, can I please use your trailers to talk about space Engine on a video/ podcast show of mine? I would of course link you in the description and with an annotation onscreen.
Thanks in advanced
Nunca hubiera pensado encontrarte aquí xD
I feel way too insignificant when playing this.
to move around in the Epace Engine blows my mind..
vinesauce brought me here. It's wonderful!
fantastic work!. I believe rift DK2 support is coming too?
M.
So, why exactly have I never heard of this before?
If only Carl Sagan lived to see this, he would weep. Then fund this guy and help him with scientific accuracy.
Спасибо тебе.
