    Very good video. I installed the exact lights but used the bigger transformer. They have been working for a good 3 years now. The only issue you will have is the connectors will start to corrode and cause the light to loose connection. My fix was to solder each connection directly to the wire. No more issues.

    They say you can use with 12g but that is a really difficult thing to do. when you insert the wire into the connector it will widen the threaded portion making it impossible to thread on the fitting. I was kinda able to do it by using flat pliers to flatten the rubber insulation on the wire to make it a bit easier to fit, but that was iffy.

    • @hanoveroak

    Thanks for the video, would it work with DEWENWILS 200W Outdoor Low Voltage Transformer with Timer and Photocell Sensor, 120V AC to 12V AC, Weatherproof, for Halogen & LED Landscape Lighting, Spotlight, Pathway Light, ETL Listed instead the 300W?

    • @hanoveroak
      @hanoveroak  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that would absolutely work. You just wouldn’t want to put more than 15 of the 12 watt lights on that size transformer.

    Can you use these connectors for 12g wire? Any recommendations?

    • @hanoveroak
      @hanoveroak  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are supposed to work with 12g wire but I had a hard time fitting them over the 14g wire I used. I think it just depends on the thickness of the wire jacket on the brand of wire that you use. You might have to experiment!

    Any reason why my lights would turn off and on. I just installed it today 4 led lights running on a 300 watt power pack (Portofino). I check all the connections. It's connected with a 12 gauge cable 100 ft. Thx

    • @hanoveroak
      @hanoveroak  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not familiar with the Portofino transformer. Sounds like something may be wrong with it though! How long do the lights stay on before shutting off?

      Did you ever solve the problem?

    • @johnlocke3481
      @johnlocke3481 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If all turn on and off at the same time, then probably back connection of the main landscape wire to the transformer box. Maybe accidentally clamped some of the insulation down along with the exposed inner wire when making connection to the 12v terminal in the transformer.

    Can you use 16/2 instead of 14/2 ?

    • @hanoveroak
      @hanoveroak  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can use 16/2 wire but you won’t be able to add as many lights as I have and you won’t be able to have very far runs from the transformer. If you’re doing a small project, 16/2 will be fine. There are calculators online to help with wire gauge for landscape lighting. Hope this helps!

      @@luvmybeemer The lights are made by SUNVIE - you can buy them on Amazon here - amzn.to/3G8Qzda
      They are LED and yes, the connectors come with the lights. They are not silicone but I have had them installed for 10 months with no issues whatsoever in rainy Florida. You can purchase silicone connectors separately that would probably last longer.

      We are in Florida and gets lots of rain. No issues so far! I have no problem swapping out the connectors every couple years if it becomes an issue. They are relatively inexpensive. I will have to take a look at the silicone connectors if we have problems down the road.
