kids are shy and often told not to show off, but for tryouts you need to make an effort to really SHOW OFF every chance you get and get noticed, u could be the most skilled and coach doesn't notice (learned the hard way when I was a kid)

Great video as usual Sean! These are the exact things I tell my son going into tryouts. He has a lot of natural ability but just can’t seem to get working earlier… Having a part time job now doesn’t make that any easier.. But he always takes part in the Pre tryout Ice times and that seems to get him back to where he needs to be going into tryouts. I always tell him that he has to compete harder than anyone else, always think he all in his own and lead the way in every drill , know when to be selfish and when not to be.. that’s important for any playmaker which he is..he would rather get an assist and set a teammate up for a goal than score himself, but he needs to show he can also score so being selfish sometimes is important. Thanks for another great video to share with him…. He listens to your advice over mine even when we say the same thing!! Cheers

Great video I show my son all of these he’s 6 and absolutely loves it. One thing I added is once you make it you can enjoy the moments more throughout the year but nows the time you have to give 110%

Thanks so much Coach! My tryouts are in a few days and this really helped me focus on what to do during the tryouts and what to focus on later. I really do appreciate the breakdown of all the tryout days and stuff, I hope it helps. I’m also really looking forward to your camp this summer! Thanks again for this video and all your amazing content!

i knew someone that could make AAA maybe AA any chance but hated how strict playing in a high level was so they tried to play not the best in the try outs so that they would get on the AE team

It can be disappointing if you were excited to play at a certain level but developing as an athlete is a process. Hopefully you can key in on any areas of weakness and tighten them up, improve your strengths and go into your level with the mindset to dominate. Keep pushing! Every year is an opportunity to improve and grow.
