  • A handy tool for all sorts of applications. This is the newer model. You will find reviews or the older model elsewhere.
As far as I can tell this model only does metric.
I did also test it in lots of outdoor applications. The only way I could produce bad readings was by pointing it at windows or reflective/shiny corners - it seemed to pick up the bounced beam off the reflected surface sometimes.

Thanks for the video. I learnt everything I needed to know through this video in a flash.

Ah, so happy to have found this - there's still basically nothing out there beyond marketing on these so you've made my day. (Unrelated, but I love your footage videos. I haven't been to NZ in far too long, would love to head back one day.) That angle test with the ruler was genuinely interesting. Even on the severe angle it was surprisingly accurate when it worked.
Have you had any issues with it since this video? I'm currently recreating my house in Sketchup (just for fun) and a laser measure is looking incredibly appealing...

Two issues - of course the batteries eventually go flat. So have a couple spare with you when you're working, to avoid interruption.
I have been caught out a few times, intending to measure from the front, but accidentally measuring from the back edge. It changes to the default each time it's turned off. If mistakes could be costly, it's probably better to always work with the default setting (i.e. back edge).
Hope you make it back to NZ!

@@thomaswilding8818 Spare batteries are def. a good plan, at this stage I'll only be using it at home but if I need to take it out with me that's sage advice. The back/front measuring would be a massive headache, I'll be sticking to the default as much as possible I think, as I'm definitely the type to measure correctly the first couple of times and then forget until it's far too late hah
I ended up buying the PLR 30 C; the 25 isn't available here that I could find (used to live in AU, live in the UK now) and I liked the idea of the Bluetooth connected app for storing room dimensions etc. Functionally I don't think it's significantly different aside from the app connection.
I hope so too, I was only there for a few weeks last time and that barely touched the surface.
