    Im so glad i found my way to these 3 guys. People who actually seek out the truth regardless of threats or risk of harming their own reputation more and potentially damaging their own income through lack of communication with orgs/players and having content they make blacklisted by reddit or orgs putting outside pressure on people. You care more about the subjects you talk about than any sort of consequence, and that is a special fucking thing indeed

    Outside of Ls reading Richard's article on stream and Dom retweeting a link to the article it has been quite silent about the Danny topic in the lol scene. You would almost think it never happened and Thorin just endorsed that Freeze Pipe sponsorship a bit too much one evening.

      Because the majority of the original information came out through Danny's sister, by definition a biased source. Most people in the industry have to be extremely careful about how they deal with conflicting information, whereas these guys can just shoot from the hip because they burned all the bridges they could possibly burn already aside from Monte who coasts on an insane level of goodwill. As more and more is corroborated more people will come out with their own statements. This always happens don't let these three fool you into thinking no one ever talks about these things aside from them, they just do it first because their entire brand is getting there first.

    • @Obzerver
      @Obzerver ปีที่แล้ว

      Both LS and Dom have publicly expressed their opinions that the players health doesn't matter if you want to be the best.
      Most recently in the context of saying NA players should work harder like peak korean starcraft days.
      Funny how these opinions change when presented with a specific example, especially one they like.

    • @marcrush55
      @marcrush55 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Obzerver "Being the best is not a healthy endeavor". I know what you are referring to and they were talking about players own personal discipline when it came to practice. I don't even know how you can compare that to an esports organization abusing their power and mistreating players. Two totally different things.

    • @Obzerver
      @Obzerver ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcrush55 Its literally the same thing, just a difference of who's idea it is to play in an unhealthy way. On one hand player should wants to fuck themselves up trying to be the best. On the other orgs should be held to extreme responsibility if a player ends up unhealthy.
      I just don't understand what people wanted to have happen. Every fan seems to say they wanted Danny to keep playing and to see him win. That's clearly what EG wanted too (it's literally the whole controversy, if EG didn't try to keep him playing then no one would be mad at them). Do people really think that by playing less, not scrimming, having more time to fly home to with family, and generally doing less work - then EG would have won summer? If so that's completely contradictory to LS/Dom's point about how to be the best and that's what I was trying to call out.

    So thorins comment about “certain players were cynical about it and were applying pressure” would have been inspired. Not only is he known as being ridiculously blunt and upfront.
    He also publicly say in interviews talking about how EGs weaknesses were botlane because Danny couldn’t play the meta champs.
    He was known on Rogue to completely flame the absolute crap out of Trymbi to the point where he was borderline in tears.
    The moment he left - Rogue became an infinitely healthier environment.
    He is also as slyly spoken about by Larssen without confirming it, a very demanding player who actively would demand the players and team played his way (spoke in an interview about inspired and said “Yeah I’m glad he has gone to NA and the team is playing the way he wants and it’s working well for them”.

    Frankly, the entire esports scene needs to grow up. No more gaming houses. No more paying food and rent for children. Go back to employment at will, we can fire you at any point in time, you can quit at any point in time. Put in performance bonuses and incentive comp to encourage players to complete the season if you're worried about them quitting. Use structured bonuses or scaling payouts for multi-year arrangements. Every big company in the world does this with their executives, and manager/ director level employees. When the league minimum is 400K+ per year, then they can have this "we own you" attitude. Not at 65K per year. It's a job, you show up, you work, you go home. If you don't perform, you're fired. If you perform well, you get paid more.
    And to be fair to the company, why are they in a position to be responsible for a player's mental health to begin with? Who would agree to that? Danny? His parents? Of course they have an incentive to get as much value as possible out of him? Why are they contracting a player for stressful job, where it won't be possible to provide him reasonable accommodations to reduce his stress if he's easily triggered by stress? The responsible thing to do would be to say, "This is a public facing, highly stressful, highly competitive position, and it would be inappropriate to put you in this role. The nature of the role doesn't allow us, the league, or the broader media and competitive landscape to create a low stress environment for you."

    only watched so far yet but personally it would not necessarily be a problem if EG helped writing the tweet or promised to help and then they had to rush it because of Thorins tweet as long as he asked for it maybe exactly because he doesn't normally write like that. Also the content creator contract could be an actual attempt from EG to help the player as promised even without them only thinking about possible punishments but I am sure when we go more into the details throughout the episode it will unfortunately show that it wasn't :D

      Nah you're actually right but these people don't actually care about Danny lol. In reality Danny LET EG do a PR tweet because he's getting paid and that's a fucking good thing he's getting paid to do literally nothing by EG and doesn't want to fuck that up but yet all these people are trying to make it impossible for him to have any healthy attempt at a relationship with the only org he can possibly be contracted too. Because of all this bad press no other org will touch him so its in his best interest to stick with EG.

      @@evanblaylock2750I think you're having a skewed perspective here. It's not that people don't care about Danny... It's correct to critically ask questions and report on bad organizational behaviour even if it doesn't help Danny anymore. I think that point was well communicated in this episode

      @@evanblaylock2750 thats like saying Riot will never face the same situation again in terms of sexism problems within the company because most of their employees stayed afterwards and they have a successful product on the market. We are talking about mental health problems that were mishandled and you say Jojo is the same situation just without the mental which means it is not applicable for this situation anyways :D also if you had listened to the show or look at the behaviour of players in general you will see that many of the young players are immature and or in one way shape or form in need of help in terms of mental/growing up/developing. Also just because others stayed (they might care about winning more than how to behave towards each other or not care what happens to others etc etc) you can't just shrug of misbehaviour. EG is a company who employs very young people they have a responsibility to take care of them. Especially the vulnerable ones

      The video basically says that EG's management staff knew Danny no longer wanted to compete by the end of the regular split, so they convinced/manipulated him to keep playing during the play-offs (in order to keep his market value up and selling his contract for good money later) while simultaneously signing 2 substitute junglers (meaning they voluntarily didn't sign a substitute for the ADC role despite Danny clearly no longer wanting to compete).

    So basically we have a scenario where EG didn't register a proper substituon for Danny 1) to mentally coherse him into playing 2) to save money on plane tickets woooooow

      Wait… they explain it when they’re talking about him. Because Travis unfortunately is like a content cuck who larps as a journalist. No flame to Travis but that’s literally what he is.

    This story sounds like theyre blowing shit out of proportion. Dannys job is to play for EG. They ask him to play even though hes got some mental shit going on, he agrees to play then take a break. Now theyre paying him and hes relaxing. How awful?

      Also if you do a bloodtest for most league players, im positive theyre malnourished. Danny is nothing new

      I have so many things I could say, but I’ll just say I think this is an oversimplified, aggressive, and harmful take.
