I just did this to my front porch. It looks identical except my wife stained the wood a darker wood color goes perfect with our red door and it complements the blue walls and white trim... Red White and Blue where the colors I choose for my first house. Thank you awesome DIY literally spent like 100 bucks
Looks real nice, I'm doing something similar, starting off with the 5-1/2"cedar board, then stack it up with two rows of 2-3/4" boards then repeat process with the 5-1/2" board all gapped at 3/4".
This is great tutorial sir. Thanks for making a video. I have watched the other video of installing outdoor shower as well. Impressed and Subbed to your channel.
Looks Great 👍 I dont have your knowledge base to do it myself, but Ive wanted to have a roof over my deck where my front door is. I think this may be an example for the sides. ty
This video is exactly what I want to do with my deck. Thank you for posting. I have quick question...as of now I have low rails and I would need to extend the posts. Any tips on how I could do that? Thanks in advance
Ideally, you’ll need to remove the smaller posts and install larger ones…that’s what I did for the wall in this video. You might be able to get away with attaching additional 4x4’s to your desired height with mending plates and then installing a pvc post sleeve over the assembly. I wouldn’t go more then a couple feet with this method. Good luck with the project!
@@fixitwithzim thanks for the response. Yeah I was trying to avoid replacing the 4x4 post because I’m in a town house and deck is on the second level. But looks like that’s going to be my best bet. What height did you use for the new posts? Thanks again.
you already have the pvc extending up on the ends. We have caps on ours and want to attach 4x4s but the pvc is wrapped around the existing 4x4. would a dowel be secure enough?
I have an existing deck, which means I'm thinking I will have to add 4 x 8's to my existing deck floor and attach them to the existing posts. Do you have videos on how to do that? My biggest hurdle is how to attach 4 x 8s to my current 4 x8's, if this is the way to do it, so the privacy wall will look like it was part of the original build. I also plan on putting slats across as you have.
Cedar 5/4 decking ripped in half for the slats. The pergola was Cedar 2x4. The posts were installed in an earlier video on my channel...part of my outdoor shower framing. They are 4x4x16 PT with a pvc sleeve. Thanks for watching!
@@fixitwithzim if I could ask one question, how big was the spacer you were using? I've tried a couple different sizes and I can't get it to look as nice as yours. 🙂
@@kimberlydelamater4927 I believe it was a 1/2” spacer that I used. PT wood will shrink some so if I was doing it over again, I’d go even smaller with the spacing…maybe 1/4”

Nice job bro, you are a true craftsman
Nice workmanship
That looks incredible! Nice job
Thanks for this video! Was looking how I can transform my current ugly privacy screen on my deck. This is exactly what I was looking for!
Do you have a video on how to add support posts to an existing deck railing that doesn’t have post’s extending up past the railing top?

Very helpful. You have a great setup. Thanks.

Thanks!...It looks hard but trust me, it’s really not...just cutting up wood and screwing it together.
Nice I like it Thanks for sharing.
Great job! I love this idea, thanks for sharing.
Thank you!

thanks looks good. gonna set my posts and do it like yours after
Thank you. Still looking good a few years later too. Good luck with your build!

Yes, you can probably get away with that. When you sleeve it with the pvc, be sure to use one continuous piece. That should give it enough strength

Wow, just wow....can you fly to Clearwater Florida and do a fence at my house . You can truly tell you are a true expert in your field.
What size are your horizontal boards?
💯👍👍
Nice
Was this a how to build or a watch me build?
Don't be a jerk. Most of us don't need to be handheld to figure out how to put it up. Just say thank you and move on.
