When he saw her arrive, he couldn't really react or say too much without giving away that he 'killed' her. But he didn't actually watch her die (because he's an idiot) so just thought she somehow escaped and that his plan to kill her didn't work and he would now have to do it another way.
@@harry6743 he couldn't freak out or people will think something is up but what is unusual is after the initial meetings, he could have gotten her alone and confronted her(check if she's wearing a wire first) but they both act like nothing ever happened
