    Nice job, It was interesting to see this done in detail, I may give this a try as I have a mustang I'm currently making and decided I would put bare metal foil on it, rather than paint the chrome.

    Color the tip of your new blade with a sharpie..to follow the flow of lines on bare metal foil so you don't have Chrome blade on Chrome foil. I just picked up this tip on Facebook..

    I always clear coat over Bare Metal Foil. It seals it and protects it. I do not use acrylic as it does dull BMF but the lacquer or 2 part urethane clear does not. At least it does not for me. I think it looks more "real" when you clear over it as well. Nice video...thanks!

    I’ve heard of people bmf first, paint the vehicle then use lacquer thinner to remove paint off the bmf

      +World Of Car Models Craft I've never really tried it, as i do not like opening doors, to me they always come out looking unrealistic.
      Halfway on this page is probablu how i would go about it: www.layitlow.com/forums/30-model-cars/252203-some-my-rides-hinge-man-old-new-13.html

    Do you have any tips on if you were to paint it chrome instead of using bare metal foil? I know doing chrome accents is probably a pretty basic skill to have, but chrome paints always seem to be thick or not very metallic and so it seems to apply slightly differently than other paints. a small tutorial vid great, or if there are any older vids where you go through it. Thanks.

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +SSJChar Honestly i have no clue on how it go about painting it like this. Thoug i do know that chrome painst never come out good when applied with a brush. So id just suggest BMF or a silver paint marker, those give a good effect aswell but might be a bit fat for some spots or details.

    I have watched your videos and I think they are magnificent. While watching I hope to learn something. I'm starting to paint with airbrush. It is not easy and I have realized that it takes a lot of practice. Can you tell me where I can buy this material, the BMF? Thank you and congratulations on your work.

    I would like to see a "How to" on raised small letters or logos with BMF. For instance, I am doing a 70 Chevelle SS and the "Chevelle" on the trunk is very small. I have tried to paint it but it keeps going down into the small cracks. But I have heard you can lay the BMF on the raised letters before you paint the car, then after you paint the car take a tooth pick with paint thinner on it and slowly and lightly rub over the raised letters until the BMF shows through. Any tricks would be helpful.

      Your describing it exactly how it can be done. Thats the way id try it to if i needed to do it.

    I noticed you added black around the windows. Did you do that free hand with a brush or did you airbrush it after masking around the trim area?

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jonathan Winterkorn I did it free hand, but you could do it with masking and then airbrushing it aswell.

  • @randallsaunders8927

    I have been doing this pretty much the way you have shown. However, I always get adhesive residue on the surrounding paint from the BMF that as been removed. I was wondering how you clean that up?

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you tried isopropyl alcohol?

    • @randallsaunders8927
      @randallsaunders8927 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Won't that strip or dull the paint compounding the problem?

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Randall Saunders that depends on the paint and gow much alcohol you use. Isopropyl alcolhol can be used as a paint stripper. When leaving the part in for a couple hours. But if you just apply a tiny amount and quickly whipe it off again it can be used as a cleaner. Though to be very honest i have never had any trouble of residu from BMF. If you don't trust the alcohol try a mild abrasive polishing compound
