The “weird modified wings” on the 737-Poseidon are called raked wings. (As sees on later versions of the 777, 767, and all 787s.

basically what the p-8 poseidon does is it is a search and destroy aircraft, as soon as it finds a enemy sub it will ddestroy it. the reason it was developed was to follow up an old turboprop 4 engined aircraft called the p-3 orion which my grandpa served on/ pls do a vid on it!!!

The RAF bought one and operate it in Scotland, it like to make a visit to Wales once in a while too for the Mach loop. It's not weird. It helps find ships and Subs within UK waters and in international waters too....
