WNBA players like A'Ja Wilson, Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart and Sue bird have all given their opinion of the number 1 pick.

Phee's deensive (and offensive for that matter) impact on the court is significantly higher than A'ja's. In fact A'ja had a negative on/off rating. Either way, the Aces offensive and defensive ratings don't swing much with or without A'ja. The Lynx see a 10 point swing in both offensive and defensive rating with/without Phee on the court. Phee not only clear DPOY, she actually should've been MVP as well (in that case DPOY would've been given to A'ja as a consolation prize, again) but the agenda prevailed. Glad the "A'ja deserves DPOY TOO!" agenda didn't prevail.

As an Aces fan, Phee deserved this award. A’ja you won MVP, but Becky of all people stop crying over this award. Our team wasn’t even defensively good until the end of the year. A’ja doesn’t guard the best player and she’s in the same spot 90 percent of the time on defence. I still think she’s the best player in the league, but Phee is DPOY.
It's nice to see reasonable fans among you guys. Evrything you said is true, and in terms of impact to team defense there is a HUGE gap in Phee's favor. A'ja has a negative on/off. the crazy truth is the real mvp of your team is Chelsea Gray. The Aces would have 17-20 wins if she couldn't play this season, even with A'ja's good looking stats.
Collier is one of very few players I actually enjoy watching since i started watching the WNBA this year because of Clark. Collier is a baller, and shes got a good attitude toward the game.
I thought her game against the Fever was the beginning of the series of one-sided ref corruption games, which gave the go ahead for other teams to start fouling the Fever more routinely. Up until then other players would cheap shot CC22 here and there but after they played the Lynx the refs stopped calling fouls for the Fever. They wanted to stop the run the Fever was having. I thought it sucked when you other commentators would stick up for the refs just stating that the Lynx, Sun and Aces were better teams. Even though the Fever still have improvements to make, in a fair game, they are the best team in the league, a league filled with corruption. If you think a player like Canada bumping into Clark while she is trying to advance the ball and not being called for the foul is good basketball, think again.
the sun had 23 three throws in game 2 the fever had 9 three throws 😂 the refs clearly didn’t want fever to win it should’ve gone to game 3 and i think the fever win in indiana because the atmosphere and crowd would be too much for the suns so ye i agree with u the fever were robbed and fouls weren’t called i think the new york liberty the lynx are too much for the fever even with good referees but the fever can beat any other team in the league in a playoff series with good refs in my opinion

Phee deserved any award she got this year, she's been unbelievable and they are 2nd most successful team this year with her being the only true superstar on it; no disrespect meant to Kayla McBride but she isn't the same tier of impact as Phee.

If we’re being honest though, a lot of people, specifically the new CC fans, hate on Wilson because she reminds them of Angel Reese. They needed a new target to compete against once ROTY was concluded. Collier poses some resemblance to their identity being mixed race so they’ve bandwagoned over to her to compete against Wilson. This is how it seems to me but I’m not concluding it as fact.

MVP should be scored on a round by round basis, with 3 players scoring a possible 1, 2 or 3 votes per round for the best players each week with the best player of the round recieving 3 points and so on. That way there is some accountability and credibility to the scoring system and not a popularity contest. Like what we have here in Australia for the Brownlow medal.
Collier deserved it and anyone arguing otherwise is going against history. However, I believe the Lynx also have better defensive pieces overall than the Aces. Gray and Plum get targeted too much for my liking and Wilson clears it up. Both are great defensive players, but the best defender on the best defensive team usually wins it, hence Collier winning it.

Collier = MVP. Much more dynamic player than AW. I don't understand why these awards are made before the play-offs. MVP should also have some relationship to winning the Championship. Not requirement but it should be part of the total evaluation and voting.

Good defense, especially on a good defensive team, doesn't always show up on an individual stat sheet. You can have a game with no blocks, steals, etc. but still completely deny an opposing player from having an impact on the game.
