    I use to dye mine with the semi-permanent Adore jet black and it lasted longer than a permanent hair dye. I also didn’t wash my hair every week. Maybe once or twice a month. My preference I just don’t see a reason to wash my locs every week.

      Me either! I see no reason to wash that often! Once or twice a month is good for me😊

    I’ve been following you for a couple of years now but this is the first time I’ve ever commented.
    Your locs are beautiful and have grown so much, wow! I used to dye my locs black (I installed them myself 3 years ago, I interlock and I have 284 locs). As I get older and my gray start to come in more, I just leave it alone. I noticed that after I dyed them, it took them a while to bounce back (dry, etc) but I did love the richness in color. It eventually faded anyway. Lol! I get tempted every once in a while to do it again but I don’t want to damage my hair. Plus I think the gray will now give me a little character. Also my ends have started to turn brown. Peace and blessings to you. Congratulations to you on your marriage!

    I'm 8 months locked and was rocking a reddish brown for about 6 months. I also love color and I just recently dyed my hair with the Dark and Lovely Midnight blue. Baby!!!! When I say my hair looks sooo thick and healthy!!! I haven't retwisted in a month so my hair is doing its own thing and I love it!!! It's like it's doing this Whoopi Goldberg beginning stage/90's loc bob. My roots right now are thick and it's still in the budding stage so I don't mind the frizz at all. It's very full and thick!!! I'm enjoying this stage before it starts growing out. But I can't wait to see how they grow out. But for those who are doubting going black,DO IT!!!!. Just moisturize, steam, spritz on a daily and you're good!! Very informative video!!!

    My natural hair color is the brown color you mentioned. I’ve been dying my hair blue black using esalon which is a subscription service. It comes with instructions, I do it myself every six weeks, it has not bled on any clothing or pillows. The texture of my hair is 4c, to the touch, the texture doesn’t feel different but it may get a little drier a bit more often. I absolutely love it. With hair color, you have to maintain it to keep the color. I’d say try it.

    Have checked out Saleemah Cartwright (Hydratherma products)t on TH-cam who died her hair black. She has a lighter complexion also and her locs look great. Have you considered henna and some Ayurvedic products? Regular dye will permanently change the texture of your hair.

    Great Video 👍🏾 I loved all the hairstyles pre Locked 👍🏾😄 your Locs look great black or ashy brown. I messed around and coloured my hair at the start of my Loc Journey I love COLOUR!!!! However in my experience I found colour very damaging and drying for my Locs 😩😩😩. Even the box dyes I also used to dye my hair jet black (which I loved) but it just didn’t last 🤷🏾‍♀️.
    Also for me I didn’t want to be a slave to colouring my Locs because like you said eventually it fades and washes out then your back to square one 🙄. So now I’m embracing my ashy brown golden luscious Locs with fine streaks of grey 😌. However I will try the hair paint that washes out 🎨 one day just for fun! 😉
    My favourite colour that I love is golden cooper bronze 👌🏾😄

      I have used hair paint wax and it allows the versatility without the damage. I also use manic panic because I have greys and it actually looks like I have streaks when I wash it out. Maybe the ACV is making your hair color fade faster than it should. Great video and conrgats on your marriage sis 🤗

    @seliciaadams2378 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Don't feel bad. I've dyed my locs black too and I also have a few friends that also have locs and have colored theirs black as well. It's normal for the black to somewhat fade. Those natural hair colors starts to pop through. Think about when your hair was blonde and how your Sandy brown color grew back in. It's the same thing except now it's popping through the black. Especially on my ends, I didn't realize how brown my hair was until I colored it jet black. AND, I went black after having my locs the red color like Keisha Charmaine (TH-camr) I colored my locs 4 months into my journey. Started with orange highlights and then went straight RED and then toned down until it was a dark burgundy brownish color. Now 6 and a half years into my loc journey I'm black again. I actually went black year 2 of my journey and I love it. I really want to do a deep navy blue but don't want to bleach my hair again so maybe once my locs are waist length then I MAY bleach 4 or 5 locs and then switch up by changing the colors using rinses after the bleach job. Phewww that was a mouth full. Congrats again on your recent nuptials and congrats on your move. Can't wait to see the next video. Blessings to you❤️

    Glad the Jet Black hair dye worked for you! My hair is what you were calling the "Ashy brown" lol... most Black men/women's locs end up that way naturally because of the sun .. as I've learned locs are supposed to look "dry" (FOR ME) as what you spoke was for you... and not that glossed off shiny look we get from the beauty supply store products. Moisture through water has been the best cure along with no products (For me). I think your hair sis beautiful so do you!

    • @donnar000
      @donnar000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. I spray rosewater on my hair and wild growth only on my roots. I have never had naturally black hair. I have locs so I can have 100% natural hair. If ppl wanna dye it that's up to them but it's never gonna be as healthy as it used to be and it's irreversible. Damage of some sort is to be expected. This journey is interesting viewing. I dyed my hair many colours wen I was a loose natural so all dem shenanigans are outta my system lol. The damage is inevitable u may not see it now but once u do notice u regret messing about with ur hair. When u first colour it u have fun then u realise uv trashed it lol.
      I've done all there is do with my hair and I'm not tempted to dye again. I love my hair as it is and it's growing more grey every month. As long as it's healthy I'm good. Shiny locs make no sense to me but never mind me. Enjoy the journey!

    I am not sure if you do all ready do this, but invest in a color safe shampoo (especially designed for dyed black hair) if you can. This will help a great deal with the fading.
    Secondly, there are ways to get you hair black hair to "pop" again. You can dye ur hair again (but with a *demi or semi permanent dye* not permanent. This way you still get vivid color but your hair is left in a "healthier state".
    Also I found a video about color demositing hair masque that may help you...
