My husband gets short term assignments for work and the pay has dropped 20% from November. Everything is so much more expensive. It’s validating to hear very smart people like you all talk about the economy and not gaslight us that everything’s dandy.

your correct that this interview was not gaslighting, however, I did not see any advice, or directional targetes they providede to you or me. It was over a 2 hours history lesson?? Do you really need a 2 hours history lesson????? I have been listening to Adam since her started like 3 or 4 years ago. All the commentary is not much more then history lessons. Not one commentator has applied the totaly approach of calling out the problems in DETAIL except squak about history and what we did live. Men, and all other Commentators that read this,
WHAT NEXT???? Not one of you have any idea and it took over 2 hours to say it????? WTF??
we have spoofing in markets, which is MMT at it's best which is not the American Charter, if you can call it that. Controled markets are not FREE MARKETS. GIFT GIVING TO LABOR, in the form of extended unemployment, like Obama did in the most highlight way is really stealing from that labor, and the business they work for, it does not help. NOt one of you are saying incentives to get jobs back into the U S A, or not one of you is saying WE AS A INDUSTRY OF COMMENTSARY ARE DEVELOPING A ADVISOR BOARD TO HELP GUIDE REALITY INFORMATION AND SUGGESTIONS TO OUR LEADERSHIP. NOT ONE OF YOU ARE SCRAMING ABOUT THE CRIMES TAHT ARE HAPPENING IN THE ECONOMY, TO THE POINT WEHRE IT IS BEING OUTTED IN DETAIL. ONLY THING IS HISTORY AND 2 HOURS OF IT. BS. GET OFF DED CENTER BE SOMBODY IN P;LACE OF A TALLY KEEPER COMMENTARY IS A DIME A DOZEN. THE ENTIRE AMERICA SYSTEM IS GOING AWAY FOR LESS, AND WE ARE BEING TOLD LESS IS BETTER, AND THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE TIME THE CONSTITUTION IS BEING SET ASSIDE AND GETTING RAPED AND YOU ALL SEE IT, AND GIVER HISTORY LESSIONS. My wife and I decided that insted of killing ourselves working longer or getting 2 jobs, we retired with our social security & some pensions, we sold or home (with still a big mortgage), Changed our USA address to a none INCOME tax State, then moved to her home country - the Philippines, where our cost of living is way cheaper than California. We rent a 3BD home in a nice gated community for $620/mo. We meet with friends for coffee often. We now live more slowly and simpler.

Great discussion. And, thanks Todd. I was a career stay-at-home mother and I was proud to serve both my family and community. You're right, Todd. A lot of people don't understand or value the work that we do and assume that we are unintelligent. The stay-at home parents that I knew were brilliant. Thanks for the recognition, Todd. I've also been a working mother. Shout out to all the working mothers, too. There's a reason that I came home to be with my kids. I was looking for a more equitable workload between my husband and myself, and I found it.

I got married and had my first in 2000. We both had to work to pay bills and daycare. I wish it wasn't that way. I think my kids and so many others have issues because of poor mother child attachment. Mental health, adhd, autism. Some could be because of environment factors as well. Processed foods, pesticides, corn syrup. So many things have changed in the past 50 years that are like causing the family to breakdown. I have dealt with depression that I think stems from being overwhelmed with work and caring for children and not having the time needed as a mother to be them and having to leave them in daycare. All due to this messed up economy.

I love Adam Taggart ! I follow his channel, thoughtful money . I see common sense is making a come back .❤️
There is a lag effect of common sense being on vacation the last few years and we are feeling that now. Excellent interview!! I truly appreciate all of your insights into what’s going on in the housing market (around the 1 hour 18 min and past )section of this video…. talking about the true costs of maintaining homes, and the true cost of all of these new safety measures that builders must adhere to.
I also see that same principal playing out amongst many different sectors of our American living. This all rolls into the true cost of being an American. I understand a lot of these safety measures, seemed like such an advancement of the old ways, however, it has out priced what the average American can afford. The same principles that you are talking about also apply to the automotive industry, and also owning your own business as well. That same premise Can be applied to multiple things that Americans view as “progress”. There is a HUGE COST with embracing these new rules and regulations. We need a reset.
The American dream was more attainable when we would have the checks and balances of plain old common sense.
I have told people in my circle lately that I believe if a car manufacture would start putting out vehicles with “bare bone “ features- like they had back in the day- I think the company would be voraciously successful!!

    • @kris_7304
      @kris_7304 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I was just talking about cars with bare bones with my husband. We were thinking about how a fully loaded vehicle 30 years ago is the base model now. I don't want all the bells and whistles that a new car has. I want simple, functional, less things that can fail and need fixing for a decent price. That's why I stick with my 1998 car. A new car is not worth the price to me.

When Adam talked about the family formation and social contract near the end he is spot on. A lot of men and women I know are opting out of having kids due to social decline. Some are agreeing with Adam that it is to expensive, others are saying that even though right now they can afford kids there is a real fear that one day their jobs may just lay them off for a cheaper worker. They do not want to run the risk of having a kid and then forcing that kid to live in poverty because corporations no longer have any loyalty to this country.

    • @nannetteralphs9042

Todd, There was a filmmaker named Aaron Russo who made a documentary about taxes before he died. Mr. Russo had several video interviews on the internet. At one point Aaron Russo ran for political office (I think in Arizona) & at that time he became friends with Nicholas Rockefeller (a Rockefeller). Mr. Russo in an internet video interview said Nicholas Rockefeller asked him: "Why do you think we promoted feminism?" Mr. Riusso said he naively replied: "To make women's lives more fair." Nicholas Rockefeller is said to have replied something like; "No stupid. If we got 2x as many people in the workforce we would gain twice as much in taxes..." (Something close to that.) Thanks to you & Mr. Taggart for very helpful interview. Sorry if my name icon comes up 2x. Computer glitch.

This is probably the single most insightful conversation I’ve witnessed anywhere for a long time. I’m British and live in the UK, but everything said is equally applicable to what’s going on here too, and Todd genuinely echoes my own thoughts and frustrations 100%. Every word.
I wouldn’t ever describe myself as a radical, or a conspiracy theorist, I’ve never thought politicians clever enough to conceive a conspiracy…..but maybe bankers and big businesses are? Democracy’s biggest flaw is its short term view with eyes on getting re-elected every 4 years. Banks and lenders don’t suffer this problem…..
A massive conversion, I look forward to more insights from this brilliant channel.

One thing that baffles me in regards to the US system is why the elite doesn't seem to understand that if you get as many as possible participating and prospering, you're going to end up making even more money than just trying to grab as much as you possibly can here and now. It's economics standard course 1A! Get as many as possible along for the ride and you'll be even richer. What they're doing now is just stupid capitalism...

To expand on your reflection regarding the deterioration of the nuclear family: perhaps broaden your perspective to having an economy where the average family can thrive with only one parent working outside the home. I know many families in which the higher wage earner isn’t the person in the traditional “Dad” role. The feasibility of thriving as a one income family would also support the numerous single parent households.
