Yeah, you know I ran out of superlatives and general words of praise a long time ago. So, I’ll just cover a couple of specific moments that really got to me: 1. The cesura before the final /t/ in “syncopate.” (It’s subtle, but makes all the difference.) 2. The smooth transitioning between scatting and the lyrics and back. Beautiful. 3. The articulation during the tutti with the guitar. So incredibly musical. A teeny-tiny jab at the video editing (just because it stood out to me). The cuts between different takes are a _little_ too obvious. The audio editing is virtually perfect, though. I’m sure there was a perfectly good reason for going with the final video edit. In any case, it’s the musicianship that matters, and it’s top notch.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments. It is one take with the audio. We recorded in a small space and had to make some decisions about the filmed shots. The video crew was incredibly thoughtful about this, and we went back and forth several times to make it as smooth as possible with the visuals.
