Great film. Nakakalungkot lang na marami sa mga katulad ni Filemon ay "misplaced" sa lipunan dahil sa stigma, ignorance, apathy ng ilan kaya hindi sila nabibigyan ng opportunities. Hindi sya mailagay sa realm na magagamit nya sana ang extraordinary intelligence nya gamit sarili nyang sikap (without other people asking for him to accept him). He is stuck and feels dehydrated as he yearns for real love and self-actualization.

This movie is quite deep like water. Water according to ancient philosopher is the origin of life. FILEMON symbolises LIFE like water. Everything in the movie is all about water. it started with FILEMON talking about climate change and how it will affect their lives. He then went to the bathroom and took him too long to fill in water in his pale. He also feels dehydrated in the movie which affect his behaviour. He went to the sea when he lost his job. Her mother cried for his husband who lost in the sea. That's why she always ask the tricycle driver to drove her near sea. MERYL delivered him water to become close with FILEMON. His GF Seashells also symbolises life and water. FILEMON'S mind is like a body of water.It is beyond ordinary like an endless sea. And if you enter his mind, you may get drowned. The movie also started and ended in the sea or body of water. I hope I got it right. it's how I interpret this movie.
It is likely NV’s BONA..water s its symbol from rain scenes to tragic ending where the Fan Alalay throws a boiling water on an aspiring actor but ended to b an extra...starlet..
Without giving too much away, did you also notice that poignant reference to the Manunggul Jar, paddling that bangka? The subtlety is so delicately done, but the references are so deep.
I believe it is a subtle campaign about Asperger's syndrome , about climate change and about family. The eroding family ties. The grandfather is about to be left alone. Well, at the end Filemon is seen paddling towards where the moon is rising most probably southeast of the Lamon bay that means either he will reach Caluag , Quezon or the Bicol region. Along the way he might stop in Atimonan ,Plaridel, Gumaca or Lopez all Quezon town before ending in Caluag. But if he veers eastwards, he will end his voyage in Alabat island another island town in Quezon. Just opposite Mauban. Still i believe he cannot find seeshell because i don' t know anybody in that island with that name. Thank you.

A masterpiece! I love the way the film moves across the two generations. I love that it taps the selfish nature of man, the way we lack appreciation in all things, just like water. The film also captures the beauty of relationships and the mundane vibes of the province.

Ang simple pero malalim. Malungkot na katotohanan sa buhay ng mga Pilipino. Stuck. Takot sa pagbabago. Ayaw sa hindi naiintindihan pero the film does not make you despise the characters rather understand and sympathize with them. Kumbaga sa sitwasyon natin ngayon si Lemon yung "woke" at animo kinamumuhian yung lugar niya kasi hindi siya naiintindihan pero sa huli natutunan niya ring mahalin at yakapin ang pinanggalingan niya nung hinalikan niya ang nanay niya, tinikman niya na yung alak na pambato ng lugar nila tsaka palang siya naging handang pumunta sa kabilang parte ng mundo at nagsail na siya. Galing!

I dont know how I end up watching this film. This is indeed a masterpiece! It gives me a lot of realizations that made me thankful for everything. A real life in province and characters are well portrayed. Basta ang galing! Simpli pero ang lalim. More of this type of movie please.

Isang katangi-tangi at nakapahusay na likhang-sining pelikula. Simple lamang ang daloy, napakanatural; sa pagganap, sa tagpuan, at sa mga pangyayari ngunit napakalalim ng nilalaman. Makatotohanan at napakagaan lamang dahil sa mga piniling tagpuan. Pagbati at pagpupugay sa mga aktor at aktres na nagsiganap maging sa mga tao na nasa likod ng produksyon. Kudos TBA Studios❤️

The simplicity of life in the province depicted at its finest. The complex of coexistence between highly intellectual and its opposite. The cinematography and directorial finesse. What more could I ask for? Thanks for the upload.
Those shots of the sea after Lolo Ume's funeral hits me hard. Little by little, it gets farther and farther as if reminding us of this special soul leaving. The space of the sea gets bigger and lonelier. Ito yung espasyong naiwan ni Lolo na wala na sigurong makakapunan.

this was such an engaging, quiet yet powerful, gem of a movie. Thank you for making it available/accessible to those of us who aren't in the Phil. The ending reminded me of the one from The last Black man in San Francisco. Another quiet and thought-provoking film.

Just watched this movie after months of storing it in my Watch Later list. I believe there is a time for everything and this is one of those. Seeing this movie during this pandemic (almost a year with this pandemic) gave me a different perspective. It reminds us that no matter how mundane we think our lives have been doing, how stuck we might feel right now, know that all of this happens for our own good. We might not understand why, but may we be reminded to live simply. We are all blessed to be with our family given with good health despite how chaotic everything seems to be. The movie itself gave all the feels and atmosphere of making yourself part of the scenes and it made my heart ‘crushed’ a bit because we are facing a new normal and somehow, it makes me miss those times and those lives we had before everything has changed. Thank you, TBA for giving us the opportunity to see this very wonderful movie! God bless and expecting more of your movies in the future. Mabuhay po kayo!

I love how the tug-o-war between pursuit and indifference is shown in many details like the pushing and pulling of the ocean waves. We just end up drowning.
Honestly, this movie struck me. First salamat sa up load and I love the movie so deep yet knowing the different types of mind na nag meron Ang bawat Isa sa atin. felimon boundless Ang isip niya Ang using water and climate change to escape mga tanong na gumugulo sa isip. And yet Ang mother niya nais siya mauunawaan but Felimon doesn't want why Kasi may 8bang problema na Ang kayang Ina na mas dapat na pagtuunan Ang kanyang pagtanda. Love the ending song and credit to the director also sa place if that is Mauban Quezon salamat po that's my home town. Thank you and more power sa inyo

Salamat, ramdam ko kung paano humihinto ang oras sa probinsya. Dahil sa pelikulang ito na curious ako sa Nipanog at Mauban Quezon. Tatlong oras na drive lang daw galing manila sabi ni google map. Kaso habang sinusulat ko ito muling nagbalik sa MECQ ang kalakhang Maynila at mga karatig bayan nito. Yung mga eksena na napaka bagal naalala ko yung mga ganong panahon noong tumira ako ng walong buwan sa Vigan. Lalo na yung liwanag ng buwang nakikipag laro sa dalampasigan. Pinakita sa din dito yung mga idle moments na sobrang napaka epektib dahil parang dinadala ako sa mismong oras na iyon. Saktong sakto talaga...
Noong nag premier ito nilampasan ko kasi akala ko pretentious yung character minsan may mga pelikula pala na kailangan mo din maging pasensyoso. Naalala ko ang kaibigan ko noong Highschool na may pinagdadaanan ngayon, sila na lang ng Nanay nya na imagine ko kung ganito kaya sila magusap kapag kumakain sila?

Also, great performance from the actors! Sobrang realistic and they really became the characters theyre portraying. Sobrang natural. Kasi sa ibang indie films, medyo amateurish pa although maganda yung story at kakaiba. This is a different take naman at sobrang pinoy pero may nakatagong profound message. SUPPORT LOCAL TALAGA!!!
