He immediately recognized from the way the corpse swayed the blade like using a saber instead. Like imagine your long dead closest friend suddenly turned up headless and full of resentment aura, of course you would feel sad and shock.
That trauma for LZ of losing WWX 16yrs ago, failing to protect him or keep him safe when the world was against him, not being able to see him before the end, frustration of not finding his beloved's body/grave, or any remaining pieces of proof of his beloved's ending, not even a piece of cloth to remind him of WWX, so he resorted to branding himself and compiling his beloved's hand writing,. all made LZ the protective husband that he is now,. he may have dreamt of this all those years, seeing his dream finally come true,. no shits gonna take that away again haha
Lan Zhan is so nice he subconsciously projects someone while I consciously won't protect anyone or myself because I want to die badly and if I can die then I should and protecting others is hard and big responsibility. I'm not kind enough to do that .
