Only advanced because you need to measure and mark at a couple points, once you get the hang of it, it will be medium level...
D E S I G N E R : paperkawaii (me)
Y O U W I L L N E E D ▶
· 3 sheets of square paper.
- 1 is 20 x 20cm
- 2 are 14 x 14cm
(This will make a box that is 5cm tall x 5cm wide x 5.5cm deep)
· A ruler & pencil (to measure and mark)
· Glue
Smaller size:
- 1 is 15 x 15cm
- 2 are 10.5 x 10.5cm
The gap to leave for the lid: 0.4cm
(This will make a box that is 3.5cm tall x 3.5cm wide x 4cm deep)
Large size:
- 1 is 30 x 30 cm
- 2 are 21 x 21 cm
The gap to leave for the lid: 0.8cm
(This will make a box that is 7cm tall x 7cm wide x 8cm deep)
To get the correct measurement:
Take your large size paper.
Your large paper width x 0.7 = Your smaller width.
Your smaller width ÷ 23.6 = The gap for the lid.

I made this and it turned out glorious! Initially I was reluctant to even start because it looked hard and I needed a much bigger box. But then with each subsequent fold, seeing how it builds up I persevered and in the end I did it! It's such a great gift box. Worth the effort and time! Thank you!

For the most part, Amazing tutorial. My only suggestion is to maybe use paper that's a different colour on both sides, so as to make it easier to see what's going on. Other than that, awesome job!

Mine looks a bit crooked but it is a great box! Great for gifting and for storing rings! I need to make one with less thin paper or the hinges will tend to pop out a lot! :))
Yes, thicker sturdier paper works best, if it's a bit wonky, maybe play around with the folds in the lids :)

+anthony woodworth the biggest one I made was from 30 x 30 cm with 2 sheets being 21 x 21 cm.. If you take a look in the description, I added instructions on how to work out the size based on your largest size 😄
Do we use proportion math to figure out the hinges when we make it with a 12 by 12 inch American paper?

Wow magic! It is based on a masu, the sides are inverted, the lids are my own design 😀

I actually made this and I got so frustrated at 11:57 😫 but the tutorial was good👌 it's because of some miscalculation I made that made mine a lil uneven😂
Yeah that part is weird but once I figured out why how you do it I got confident with it
does it matter what the gap for the lid is? my large size paper is 28 cm, and the smaller size is 19.7 cm. is the gap size important?
hmm about 0.7 cm ... should be ok :)
brilliant. could you adjust the note at the beginning for 14cm x 14cm to 14.2 cm x 14.2 cm cos i'm after making two squares at 14 cm x 14 cm and that a tad too small. your videos are excellent, thank you for sharing with us.

What is the final measurements on the larger box
Very interesting and cute box, I love how it closes up. Mine sort of stained from the glue though...I need to make another one with bigger and better paper, thanks for the tutorial!

You are welcome, I really enjoy folding your models, so far very few did not come out the way I wanted them, ofcourse paper quality and humidity has lots to do with the final success of the model! I am gathering strength and paper to fold your office supplies series ^____^

the 20 cm is mark 4.7cm at 1third how about 70 cm
If you are starting with 3 sheets of 70 x 70 cm. (2 will need to be 50 x 50cm) At 2:03 you'll need to mark a third. It will be 16.6cm. Hope that helps :)

+James Kilts The glue is just to stop the top triangles from flipping up, there are many origami designers such as makoto yamaguch who use a dab of glue here and there.
She's right sometimes you might need tape or glue or some stuff might flip up or some stuff else

classical ones, only fold the paper (no glue).
ORU = "to fold" ( 折る )
ORI = "foldable" (折 )
KAMI = "paper" ( 紙 )
ORI + KAMI => ORIGAMI ( 折り紙 )
(phonetically change 'K' by 'G').
when paper is cut,
KIRI = "cut" ( 切り )
KAMI = "paper ( 紙 )
KIRIGAMI ( 切り紙 ) : "cut the paper"

I still dont get it how do you made for 15cm x15 cm? i got confused ...i read the description i just confused anyway its STILL CUTE!!! XD
+alice hatter If you only have 15x 15 cm paper, then you need 1 sheet of 15 x 15 and 2 sheets of 10.5 x 10.5cm and then in the video while making the 2 lids, I measure some gaps, at 8:29 ...they need to be 0.4cm ... Maybe try the video I posted today, it's similar look but much easier, maybe 😁💕

I don’t like the paper i used, but it came out good for a first try. Mine doesn’t perfectly close and the hardest part was cutting perfect squares 🤦🏻♀️
