This is Life. The joy of riding a bullet on this amazing place is a blessing by the almighty, not everyone may get the chance but the feeling is out of this world. I would love to go to this region... I feel it is the only place that one can really get to see what Tibet was like before the Chinese invaded, yes we have Bhutan, but Bhutan looks like Bhutan, Ladakh, looks much more like the Tibetan plateau(as far as I can tell from internet imagery..). The thing with Tibet is, I would imagine the average Tibetan is pleased with the development China has brought into the country(the Dalai Lama, even wanted to modernize his country), however I would imagine the Tibetans would have preferred that their culture did not get homogonized with the rest of China, and they would probably have preffered that the Han did not instigate a program(much like what ancient Rome would do, post conquest), that I feel has the eventual goal of literally, breeding the Tibetans out of existance.. The only future I can see for culture in Tibet, is that, eventually the majority ethnic Han chinese, with some Tibetan heritage, in about 100 years, will look back with a sense of shame, like how some Americans feel about what they did to Native Americans, and will, in hindsight take some interest in their "adopted.." territory, and some very limited Tibetan Buddhist cultural revival will occur, in a small minority. Beyond that, I really cannot forsee a future for Tibetan, in Tibet, ethnically, linguistically or culturally. I apologize for dragging politics into this, it has just fascinated me for so long.. I look at what has happened there in the 20th century, and it reminds me of any other time a large power, absorbs a weaker neighbor.. The fact that China was communist has not helped, Implemented "Communism" has many facets of a Fascist Deathcult, it deals rather harshly with groups it sees as "the enemy" much like the Nazis, I speak specifically for the Stalinist variant, and Mao def was one such adherant..
