1.Never even thought of body language for interview. I do well for on stage interviews but notice my scores tank for the closed room kind. Might need to look into my body language. 2. i won a state pageant with my bun falling apart during a high fashion style evening wear during my teen years. i never even noticed it until my mom tried to fix it after crowning. my focus was how my gown made me feel amazing
Interesting. I'd try to ask for scores too. You could also lack content in interview. Most girls speak but don't actually tell me anything about themselves. It's bizarre to watch.
Yes, body language is so important! I’ve been paying attention to it in my pageant prep. I just finished reading the book Presence by Amy Cuddy, such a good read and helpful for pageant preparation.
Wow, I never even considered the potential aspect of judging a contestant! That's really reassuring to know. Thanks for the great video, I'm already prepping for the 2020 MTU/Miss USA pageant season (I know, already?!) and your content has been a great help to me. 😄
I NEVER thought about it either, but it's something a lot of directors have mentioned to me before judging. They don't want us to just focus on that one day but more so on how the girl can change with some help. There's a fine balance.
I’ve been watching your videos for years, Dani, and this one has been the most informal, by far. The last tip about potential makes incredible sense now that I think about it, it’s he only one I hadn’t ever thought about! Thanks so much for your dedication! Love you❤️
In my interviews so much happens I don’t really pay attention. I was wondering if you could make a part 2 about how to stand and or how to work on body language and posture.
In the spring I’m going to be competing in a pageant with over 50 girls. The age range is 14-24 but I’m 13. I got accepted despite my age. My goal isn’t to win, but to get into the top 15 and possibly a 4th runner up title. My main goal is to get into the top 15 really. I feel like I’m good, but other than my age I don’t stand out too much in pageants. This video helped me so much.
Dani, thanks so much for this episode! I would really love to hear some more about the last quality you’re mentioning - the potential! 😀 is there perhaps another episode where you talk about it? Thank you for all the amazing information you’re sharing!!
I've competed in Rodeo pageants and stuff and I can see where body language is really important because I've watched videos of myself in horsemanship impromptu, modeling on stage and at some point when i didn't have enough positive body language about myself, it really shows👀
I made sure to look through the videos before I asked this question but I am wondering how much line up matters? If there is someone before you that may be extremely tall or have the same hair color as you, what can I do to stand out after her?
Good question! I am running for Miss Idaho USA in the fall - I have had short hair my entire young adult life and don’t know if I’ll be able to afford getting hair extensions? Do I grow my hair out to try to make it look more standard for the pageant or do I keep it short?
I’m competing in a Miss America’s Outstanding Teen local pageant this weekend. In interview, I’m the last person to go. Any tips to make a lasting impression? Any tips for OSQ?
The order you go in doesn't matter. It's about practice, presenting content and purpose. Preparing your closing statement as well. MAO is tough in OSQ, you need some great info to back up your answers. That comes from doing your research on current events so you can present an informed opinion. Best wishes to you!
Wear clothes that suit ur body type Skin tone hair style Body language cues Ur purpose Authenticity Embrace it One mistake is not everything Be present Be prepared mentally and physically Potential Seem flexible Demonstate that u have potential to win
Dani, how do you feel about tanning for natural pageants? Is it necessary? I've had people tell me it is, but I don't really want to hop in a tanning bed if it's unnecessary
Ari couldn’t tell you without seeing everything. Just go get a spray tan ASAP. Give it a test run. Different places offer different shades and tones so it takes time to figure out what looks best
Kyra Hobaica I don’t think it’s so much about doing something extra to attract them. For me, I love girls who do less. Girls who aren’t frozen, ones that don’t pull at their hair, someone who can look me in the eye.
Study Dianara Torres MUP performance for how to stand out. Not one move was by accident. Alicia Mechado's was spectacular as well, albeit by pure accident, she never should have won but she did.

Hey Dani can you make a video about your pageant competition history and how long it took you to win your state title and how you dealt with losing ?
Yes, body language is so important! I’ve been paying attention to it in my pageant prep. I just finished reading the book Presence by Amy Cuddy, such a good read and helpful for pageant preparation.
I love her TED talk, I bet the book is great. I also like Every Body Knows.
Seriously am in love with that lip color! and you look gorgeous as always! :)

I am just now watching this today and was wondering if there is another guided list you have, it would really be useful for me!
I have some resources. What list are you looking for?
@@DaniWalker like things I should do on a daily basis to get me ready for the pageant!

Good thing is that you've noticed that. A lot of contestants are very unaware.
I never considered body language in pageant preparation. These are great tips and pointers. Thank you Dani, you are amazing! ☺️
Gabriela Darlene ❤️❤️❤️ thank you!! Glad you’ll be thinking about it now 👑
I made sure to look through the videos before I asked this question but I am wondering how much line up matters? If there is someone before you that may be extremely tall or have the same hair color as you, what can I do to stand out after her?
Do a different pose than her. Change up the visual :D

lyssa ann schei you don’t have to grow your hair out but some contestants look better with longer hair. It depends on how you style it.

You are most welcome
Dani, how do you feel about tanning for natural pageants? Is it necessary? I've had people tell me it is, but I don't really want to hop in a tanning bed if it's unnecessary
Well don't get in a bed. Get a spray tan lol. It also depends on your wardrobe. Some wardrobe looks soooo much better with a tan.
@@DaniWalker all of my dresses are jewel tones, do those look better with tans? I'm olive skinned so I'm quite hesitant about getting a spray tan

Im in 7th grade doing my first pageant ever!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im so scared to fall or trip up! Thank you so much for these videos there ever helpful
Good luck!
@@SharonTakim thank you!!!!!!
Positive body language is a huge thing in dance auditions even before they interview you sometimes, it's all about how you walk into the room.
I have thought about body language however, I find it difficult to figure out how to entice the judges with body language.
Kyra Hobaica I don’t think it’s so much about doing something extra to attract them. For me, I love girls who do less. Girls who aren’t frozen, ones that don’t pull at their hair, someone who can look me in the eye.
Dani Walker interesting, I’m great at eye contact but I do talk with my hands a lot.
Kyra Hobaica so do I. I had to tone that down. Took practice.
Study Dianara Torres MUP performance for how to stand out. Not one move was by accident.
Alicia Mechado's was spectacular as well, albeit by pure accident, she never should have won but she did.
I'll have to check out Alicia!
Hi Dani ,I would like to know if judges ask 13 year old contestants questions at a pageant .
If there is an interview competition, yes, judges will ask questions.
Gods tips can 12+ wear cheetah prints on their interview outfit ?❤️
I would NEVER put anyone in cheetah for interview.
I thought so thanks!
word............................john 3:16
Never
So basically u want the judges to know that your not just a pretty girl and u want to help make the world better right?
Hey Dani if you are a person who talks with there hands cause I do will the judges take that as being nerveous.
omg the last tip! never thought about that. thank you dani❤️
You're welcome! I never did either but it's something I wish that I understood years ago! :)
Never.
Never
Never
Thank God :D
