    Lansweeper, more of an asset manager, is a similar tool that provides the greatest breadth of metrics for any and all IT related equipment that I've come across. Adding this to that toolset would provide the only missing element... a network topology diagram.

    Visio 2003 Enterprise Edition could scan a network or subnet and draw it. However, it was realised that hackers could use it to attack a network and they removed the feature. Really annoying as it was really useful.

      Will the original 2003 version still have these unique feature? I need to drawn a network diagram for a rather large client.

    I have been using this software for a while now it is very nice the only issue I have had is that it is tied to a switch so if you want to upgrade your switches it can break your license

    • @dreniarb
      @dreniarb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A while back I replaced my 3rd switch and the software reverted to unregistered. I contacted the author and he issued me a new license based on 3 current switches. Honestly though the software is so worth the money that I probably should have just helped the author out and purchased another license.

    Hi Willie,
    The application looks good. Let me ask something different, do you have any network documentation tool. If so please make us a video.

      NO, don't touch it! Perfect, clean, understandable UI. The correlation between website and software are impressive!
      Need one more page with full explanation of trial version limitations.

    How do you feel this compares against using Auvik solution? The cost is a BIG difference but the GUI in Auvik is much cleaner and easier to work with. I also noticed the CSV export function isn't very clean in Excel 2016, did you update your template to make it easier to read somehow?

    I would actually love to try this out, but the fact that the website is based out of Russia to download the software and its software designed to gather information about your network simply scares me.

    Since SNMP has been deprecated, can you still use this mapping software with SNMP Traps?

    • @WillieHowe
      @WillieHowe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Who said SNMP has been depreciated?

    • @msheffield24
      @msheffield24 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WillieHowe I just went to enable the SNMP Service on a windows machine and there was no service listed any longer. Only SNMP traps and after a quick Google saw that windows had started removing it after Win 10 1083 and later. I am just trying to find a program like this that will automatically generate a topology of a domain network. I was able to enable SNMP on all of our switches and the auto topology worked great. My problem is with the windows issue. This is also for DTC regulations so I would not want to install it if the US-CERT recommends disabling it. I guess I could see if my penetrations and vulnerability scans pick it up as a vulnerability. Also was trying to get around installing on hundreds of PCs. I may be wrong and missing something, and if so, please advise. I will post back after a test scan.

      @@WillieHowe So, the information that this program collects is amazing. Wanting more, I haven't been able to add another WMI Query. The simply dropping the ";" from the front of Win32_DisplayConfiguration DeviceName does not seem to work. Something like TPM status would be great. Get-WmiObject -Namespace "Root\CIMV2\Security\MicrosoftTpm" -query "Select * from Win32_Tpm" | select IsEnabled_InitialValue

    is Visio not the only acceptable diagram? Spend a week with the PowerShell office automation docs and make your coworkers look like useless toddlers. Getting that data is another story, but SNMP won't cut it if you have a decent variety of hardware or stringent security. Dells it assistant or amitage in Kali Linux at least provide multiple protocols in case SNMP isn't feasible.
