I noticed the clay pieces you made were kind of thick. Maybe making the clay ones thinner like the cardboard pieces may have fixed the problem of being too heavy.
Same! Roll them out like a pie crust about the same thickness as the cardboard and cut them out the same way. Just be sure to keep the thickness of the clay consistent. Otherwise they won’t line up correctly. This was so awesome to watch
Back in the late 80's I used a multi-sided die and assigned numbers to certain tetramino shapes. I'd roll the die, get a number, then draw that shape where it would fit on some graph paper that was a 10 x however long so I could keep going for a while. The key was to not have any blank/empty squares. No score, or game speed increase. Just a relaxing way to enjoy a game I couldn't get because I didn't have any system to play it on.

I personally wouldn't say "old". Alot of lego pieces like that are still in circulation, because of the fact most of them are still major lego motor functions. Gears, wheels, they still alot of them, you see alot of technic sets, especially the special motorized ones like the excavator crane or pickup truck. They use alot of gears. Now, maybe I'm misunderstanding what you exactly mean by the word "old"? But, in my opinion they're not "old"... 😅
@@WarlockEthan I mean their color are "old" : Light Gray, Dark gray. And the gears ClayClaim uses are from the 1990s. If your remember his video with spring loaded shooters where the projectile has a rubber part, the colors of those projectiles/canons (yellow, turquoise, magenta, ...) are no longer made by LEGO because I made some research and they come from "old" LEGO Technic sets.

I love those "old" lego pieces from 1980/1990/2000. They are awesome with this type of gears and wheels.

For a solution, if the clay was too heavy, you could of made their height shorter or hollowed them out.
