    Interesting note about Kevdak and the Heard of Storms, during Critical Role Matt hadn't finished the Path of the Juggernaut yet so they were Bear Totem Barbarians as a placeholder.

      That is a fun fact!

      Well Kevdak was Barb 9 (Totem Warrior)/ Fighter 7 (Battlemaster) so being a Juggernaut wouldn't have made much difference. Had he been Barb 14+ he would've negated Hold Person.

    This is so cool! I love this path for the barbarian. I especially like the fact that this barbarian can deal siege damage. Thanks for another great video on the Tal'Dorei campaign setting!

    Seems like a very interesting take on the barbarian, where you are at least for sure able to deal your damage and not have to worry about those secondary conditions.

    I've been thinking of a homebrew barbarian path mostly based of Tokyo ghoul, Path of the Troll. fluff; you were a normal person until one day you were attacked and on death's door. some one saved you... Or cursed you. You received transplanted organs from a troll in order to save your life.
    Machanicaly; 'Keen Smell' starting at lvl 3 you have advantage on wisdom (perception) checks that rely on smell.
    'Trollish tenacity' starting at lvl 3 you gain some of the regeneration of a troll while raging, when you enter a rage and at the start of subsequent turns you regain hit points = to your con modifier + half your barbarian lvl. You do not regain hit points if you took acid or fire damage this round.
    'Naturally deadly' lvl 6 your body starts to betray your trollish origins. Your fingers grow into cruel claws, your teeth grow and sharpen, the color of your irises changes to a sickly yellow green and your scleras become black as night. you may make unarmed claw attacks that deal 2d6 + strength mod slashing damage. You may make a bite attack as a bonus action 1d6 + Strength mod piercing damage. You also gain dark vision if you didn't already have it.
    'Trolls stomach' at lvl 10 you feel an aching hunger that nothing seems to satiate, you have advantage on saves against poison and/or traps that rely on being eaten. Also you can consume the flesh of almost anything with no ill effects.
    'Loathsome Limbs' at lvl 14 your limbs aren't destroyed when detached and can be reattached as an action, if they are not reattached they will regrow when you take a short or long reast. While the limb is unattached it may move with a speed of 5feet and if it's an arm you may use it to attack as an action. detached limbs have an AC of 13 and 10 HP.

    I like it! When I think juggernaut, I think an unstoppable force that just keeps plowing through. I think the boulder than chased Indian Jones personified. It sounds like that's how this plays.

    • @TitanGamingTV
      @TitanGamingTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think its really exemplified with the pushing power on melee attacks.

  • @plasmaentity7681
    @plasmaentity7681 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This sounds like an awesome idea, but the ability to deal siege damage sounds like a mechanic the DM would have discretion over. So if you get a really strict DM this subclass could be shafted.

    • @TitanGamingTV
      @TitanGamingTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its true that siege damage can be held in high subjectivity from DM to DM. Hopefully having a specific class power linked to it will encourage DM sympathy to keep player choices relevant!

    I think it would be cool if WOTC made arcane traditions for fire, water, earth and air, that gained bonus spells relating to their element and maybe some cool abilities, like maybe the Fire Wizard could deal fire damage while grappling and gain resistance to fire, water wizard gains resistance to acid, gains a swim speed and can breathe underwater.

    • @TitanGamingTV
      @TitanGamingTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      An element-based division of Evocation would make sense, thematically.

    • @IHateNumbersOnNames
      @IHateNumbersOnNames 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Intruding and recommending moving it to druid and sorcerer.
      We got storm sorcerer, we got shadow sorcerer, we can 100% do the ole elementalist build
      Druids too, since they already focus on nature. My friend plays a girl triton druid that uses water and fog magic. Since tritons get easy access to fog cloud and tidal wave, she can select cantrips and spells that further complement that, for example shape water and mold earth.

    • @owl2944
      @owl2944 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IHateNumbersOnNames all good ideas. Maybe their could even be some kind of elementalist class that is restricted to spells of one element but has more power somehow? Whether that be through unique traits like the ones i mentioned or they can just cast the same spells at a lower level.

    • @owl2944
      @owl2944 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you have a good idea with the sorcerer or druid thing though. I just think maybe it could be further developed than the way, for example, storm sorcerers are?
      edit: on a side note, i do think your friend has a good idea with the water-themed druid. I've actually played a storm/wind themed druid in 3.5e.

    In part due to your videos on what's in the Tal'Dorei Campaign Guide.. I've ordered one myself.
    I wanna make a Bloodbender, and a Juggernaut, and probably 1 or 2 of the other archetypes that are in there.
    I might try out Gunslinger sometime, but I've already got too many character ideas that I want to play..

  • @h-grid3137
    @h-grid3137 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think that shoving people with every attack is too situatinal for 3rd level feature, its useful only if you have casters that constantly cast area effect spells or your DM makes natural hazzards in every fight.

    • @TitanGamingTV
      @TitanGamingTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dont forget just being able to move enemies around has some other innate tactical advantages, even if its not pushing them into spikes or harmful effects. Messing up enemy positioning (especially alongside a hulking barbarian) can thoroughly mess up a squad.

    • @h-grid3137
      @h-grid3137 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @patrikg.6320
      @patrikg.6320 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on type of game, I give bonus damage (1d6) against cornered enemies but PCs also suffer from this and I tend to include some hazzards in most of the fights, soo in one of my games this could be potentionaly OP but I got to say I like the juggernaut a lot :)

    I love this archetype but gaining a level exhaustion at 14th level ruins it, why dues the barbarian get an infinite amount of rages if he rages more than 5 times he dies. Yes, the features very useful but, it's not worth a level of exhaustion.

    • @DurandalsFate
      @DurandalsFate 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't have to use the "unstoppable" feature every time you rage; it's optional. So you only use it when you're _particularly_ worried about the frightened, paralyzed, or stunned condition or reduced speed. Or maybe you can deal with exhaustion easily (Greater Restoration and you're rolling in diamond dust).

    That eyebrow motion at the end is very seductive 👍🏻. Love the content! So what would you recommend to a DM who would have to create encounters against a PC in the archetype?

    • @TitanGamingTV
      @TitanGamingTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Ryan. Technically speaking, Restrained would still apply disadvantage on outgoing attack rolls, and charm effects still take effect. But from an encounter design perspective, you should really just assume the barbarian is going to be slavering around hacking stuff. So make sure battlefields have varied terrain, limit adding flight effects to barbarians cuz its just going to make them THOROUGHLY hard to handle, and try to use non-condition oriented magic spells. Their saves still arent good, so subjecting them to other forms of control magic is still always effective :P

      The offspring of goliaths and orcs, Golrics are truly fearsome specimens. With their massive stature, raw power, and imposing presence, they prove to be quite intimidating for even the most savage of foes. Often larger than goliaths and more thickly-muscled than orcs, Golrics are often observed performing feats of incredible strength with ease. They usually bear a mixture of their bloodlines' physical traits: the markings, coloring, and eyes of goliaths; the thickness, sharpened canines, and pointed ears of orcs. Bone structure is typically angular and solid, and about half of males and most of the females are able to grow hair. Golrics also share a mixture of their parent races' personality traits, known for having the even temper of goliaths, but subject to the powerful emotions and heightened senses of orcs.
